In this game, and especially the Spurs game, there were at least a dozen situations where he doesn't shoot for 3 while no defenders were 6 feet from him.

Oh man. Poor CP. I hope his thumb gets better soon. That can be annoying as heck.

Memphis went under the screens to negate the pick and roll, they ran it enough, don't want to do Vinny offense where it is just pick and roll also.

This season is done - we aren't strong or quick enough.

I've never seen Memphis score this easily on any other team

Not really, part of running it is executing it. But it should be utilized with Deandre more as well. What killed us was having Dudley, Hedo, and Bullock in together. All of them sit on the outside and don't move around. The. On defense Turkoglu played matador and Dudley wasn't much better. Out p&r defense is horrible. Actually all of our defense against screens is terrible.

Tonight, the Clippers really shot themselves in the foot, missing *16* free throws combined. If they had made a couple more- this could have been a different outcome. Blake battled hard out there and had a very good game, though you wish he would have made a couple more FT's & made one of a couple of easy shots near the rim that missed. CP3 played so much better than vs the Spurs. He didn't hesitate shooting his jumpers which was great, but too bad he didn't make more of the shots he would normally make. DeAndre Jordan- not a good game as he just wasn't as sharp as he needed to be, giving up key offensive rebounds late in the game, & of course the 1 for 5 FT's hurt the team.

Crawford and Barnes had nice performances as they were active on both ends of the floor and helped carry the scoring load. Unfortunately, the bench got badly outplayed again. The Clippers were up be 6 or so early in the second quarter, but the second unit just could not keep up with the speed & athleticism of the Memphis bench. James Johnson really energized and hurt the Clippers. The guy looked like an All-Star out there. And from that point, the Clippers had to play catch up. It was a valiant effort to come back at the end, but just couldn't overcome again the poor FT shooting & lackluster bench.

The Clipper bench guys combined for 1-10 FG's & 3 rebounds in ~48 minutes. That is simply not going to get it done.

It's honestly inexcusable how poorly they play on the road for an elite level team (14-15). If we do not secure home court in at least in the first round we are going to be royally F'd.

That Is what happens when you bring in a bunch of old farts/shooters into a team, they are passive and to easy to defend hence why we need an athletic wing so desperately. Someone that can put more pressure on the defense, put the ball on the floor get into the paint and create good offensive plays for himself or others, we just don't have such a player on the team right now.

I am annoyed that we make a crap

Offensive team look like the spurs. How come we seem to be the only team that cannot defend Memphis? They either score or get to the line on every trip. What is happening? I'm not that impressed that DOc hasn't made a difference in this matchup.

Evan turner would have fit that very well. The idea of having three players just sit on the perimeter doesn't work if our bigs aren't attacking the rim and being set up by other players.

I don't know what not really means. Do you mean they didn't run it enough, or?

Paul's outside jump-shot isn't crisp right now. Memphis was playing under and playing contain on the pick and roll with the idea of we'll give up the 20 foot jumper and if Paul hits it, that's life, he's a good player if not, we're good, but we'd rather keep him out of the lane and close rolling lanes from Blake. Paul obviously isn't hitting or super willing to take those shots at the moment.

Ding ding! Now, this wasn't their best offensive game as they killed the Knicks, but the Knicks are terrible. I said it in the other thread. As a supposedly above average offense, we shouldn't let Memphis score above their season offensive efficacy against us, they did.

In the last 6 games, only us and the Knicks allowed that. I believe 3 of the other 4 teams held them under 1 pt/possession, so we still need to defend. Now, regular season wise, I won't get too worried. Why? During the regular season, you don't want to tailor your system to each team you play, every game. You want to try and install and re-in force your system and identity, so you take some losses where you aren't adjusting your game plan because of that.

Vinny did the constant adjustment, which is why Blake complained that the defense was constantly changing. There's no baseline defensive principle when you do that, and you don't develop the defensive chemistry you need.

In the post-season when you play someone over Andover, then you change it. So in the post-season, I would expect to blitz Randolph off the move. So as soon as he puts the ball on the floor. send a second defender, it makes him flustered and much less effective.

If you really paid attention in last night game its a no brainer how we lost

So it was a back and fourth game, suppose to come down to the wire, and all of a sudden MR AMAZING aka doc rivers, ruined it again

6 mins in the 3rd he decided to put Turkaboo along side Dudley!!!!!!! and all of a sudden connely makes 3 layups in a row and we could not score, went down by 10 or 12

GAME OVER

whats the lesson learned here????

DONT PLAY 2 OF YOUR WORST PLAYERS TOGETHER FOR ANY STRECH OF THE GAME

and sorry i havent been here for a while, WHY THE HELL ISNT THERE A WAIVE TURKABOO THREAD

Another Troll Thread. I do not think you should be able to make a thread unless you are a Clippers Starter or something to do with CTB Rankings. D-League Pick Ups with 1 post shouldn't....

Rotations do need to be tweaked some I putting all five of our best players on the floor starting games no longer works. Its a passive and aggressive type thing that needs to be better balanced with Barnes and Crawford helping the second unit along Turk and Hollins. Can use a Reggie and Jared starting wings to see if we can open spacing and get our bigs and Paul going early.

Turkoglu was really bad last night, he was -14 only 7 minutes. He was doing really bad defending the pick and roll and Memphis went right at him. Even Dudley's run out as a small ball PF at the end of the first half when Griffin was in foul trouble was much better than what we got from Turkoglu. I assume we will sign Davis or someone else in the next week or two and Turkoglu won't play much anymore.

Whoa- your second post and you are already violating the site rules with a personal attack. Normally that would mean a ban for a newbie, but I'll let you pass with an official warning this time.

^ If we'd shot 89% from the line like Charlotte did, we'd have beaten them too. No mystery there.

So Charlotte beat Memphis tonight --- it just goes to show that at any given night, any NBA team, no matter how good they've been playing, can be beaten. As Doc and other Clippers have often said, this is the NBA, full of professional players. A win is no sure thing when you've got guys playing at this level. Memphis was on a second night of a back-to-back too so there is that consideration for their loss. Like I said earlier, time to move on from the Clippers' loss to the Grizzlies and try to beat OKC tomorrow.

This is a good sports-fan mentality. I just want to point out that most of the time when you watch other teams play us, then play a different team, you'll notice that they rarely bring the same kind of energy and determination; I bet James Johnson didn't go off on Charlotte like he did us? I bet Zbo didn't lock arms with Biyombo every time up the floor like he does with Blake. It's something that's a little frustrating for me as a Clippers fan, but only through adversity do we succeed. On another note, look for everyone to come out strong against OKC.

Let me just make an observation CLIPPERS SUCK! right now, we haven't beat any team of worth since last year, but I'm surprised we could hang on so tight when our bench is SHT SHT SHT it might as well not even be there.

Bobcats are much improved defensively this year. We all remember how they knocked off the Clippers just not long ago as well. They're definitely playing the right way, at least their focus on D is really terrific thanks to their new coach.

its crazy how much Charlotte improved their defense yet we still haven't had consistent defense over a stretch of games. you would of thought we'd have it down by now.
