True, but with Barnes at 2 gives us length and it won't be a final print.

We need JJ and Jamal for the stretch run.

Am I the only one who thinks Bullock should start at the 2 with Granger?

I think this is the first bought out player almost the entire board is opposed to getting. XD

I'd sign Sasha instead. Better defender.

Seems pretty clear we need another SG and we can't make a trade. So we pick from who's available and I don't see who else is out there with the same potential to contribute. Sasha plays hero ball and he's never been a hero. Gordon is a vet who would be going from a terrible situation to a great one. Especially if we can lock him into a team option for the minimum, it's low risk and possibly he's just what the doctor ordered.

If we don't make a move, Doc is going to have both of our PG's on the court together quite a lot for the remainder of the season. First of all, they're both undersized, secondly it's an injury risk, 3rd is it's going to put too many minutes on two guys who are extremely important to us. Status quo is not sustainable unless they really think JJ is coming back for sure in the next couple weeks.

If Dudley was worth a $hit, I'd say just use him as the back up SG but he's killed us all year. Not reliable. At least bring in an option.

I say sign him if you can.

I'd just start Matt at SG, start DG at SF, Reggie can be backup SG until Jamal gets back.

CP/DC

Matt/Reggie

Granger/Dud/Turk

BG/Baby

DJ/Hollins

Until Jamal &/or JJ get back.

Against a lot of SGs Barnes and Dudley would probably be fine defensively, Doc has used them both to defend SGs throughout the year. A lot of SGs are largely spot shooters or use power to drive to the basket more than quickness, so a bigger slower player defending them isn't necessarily bad. Dudley survived an entire season starting at SG in Phoenix and is slower than Barnes and Barnes played some at SG with the Lakers.

Dudley played SG 31% of his time with the Suns, while Barnes played a lot less (8%) with the Lakers. Agree we should be ok in spots.

I like Bullock but he's been bad, he still hasn't completely beat out Green for minutes, Green and Bullock are both only shooting 37%, not from 3, but overall. I'd like him to keep getting chances and show he can do more, but he needs to show more to earn minutes.

I loved the scoring from Collison last game against Houston, maybe he can fill the role if necessary.

However we have one slot free but I don't think he is better than Willie Green.

If Redick is out for the season, I would think Gordon would be worth having. Would prefer him to Willie Green. But I am gettin gbehind the idea of reggie play the SG position.

According to Phoenix fans, Dudley's year at SG was his worst defensive year. He just wasn't quick enough. The effort was there, but the results weren't, so their conclusions were "he needs to go back to SF", but doesn't mean he can't play it in spurts and based on matchups, and similarly, Barnes.

No point getting Gordon now if he can't play in the post-season though.

THERE HAS GOT TO BE A SG in the D league that is YOUNG, AGGRESSIVE, AND READY-ANXIOUS to show the nba teams that he belongs HERE, not there, and our FO is BLOWING IT! Unless I don't know what the rules are for this, the FO should do their job, and sign this player to a 10 day contract NOW! And keep doing this till we find that DIAMOND-IN-THE-ROUGH before some other team, like SA, grabs him. Any suggestions that we can list here, 'cause I know someone in our FO reads this blog for ideas, LOL!

Calm down, lol

It's usually not that easy, and sometimes more experienced teams are looking for a more sure option than a trial at this stage in the season

A guy I grew up with named Scott Suggs plays for the Knicks affiliate of the D League. He is a short 6'6 shooting guard, or a tall 6'5. He has some handles and can shoot, the only problem he has is that he isn't very stocky, reminiscent of Durant a few years ago. He played preseason for the Bucks but was cut before the season started. I would be so happy to see him on a team, and preferably the Clips, I just wonder if he has what it takes to play with the big boys.

here is his profile:

he is actually a good friend of mine, we grew up in Augusta MO together. D-League stats should be taken with a grain of salt, but he is producing.

Maybe if Redick is out until playoffs, Gordon can be a stop gap to help the team get the highest seed possible.

Didn't we need to sign someone yesterday for them to qualify for playoffs? Or is that just players need to be waived by 3/1. Like, we had that mix up not having Granger on the roster sheet which prevented him from playing last night. Does this mean he doesn't qualify for playoffs either since deadline passed?

Man the Bobcats FO is ruthless haha. But I kind of get where they are coming from. They are likely going to make the playoffs after some horrible couple of years. They are trying to build a good roster and keep their fans interested. They are a improving team that is finally going in the right direction and now their second highest paid player is asking for a buyout like they are a lottery team. And rumor is he wouldn't take less money to get bought out. That probably rubbed them the wrong way.I don't agree with them and think they took it too personal but I get it sort of.

At this point, I don't think Ben Gordon is much of (if at all) an upgrade to Willie Green. In 24 games this year, he has been downright dreadful.

Most D league shooting guards are far worse than Willie Green. Lets not act like capable shooting guards grow on trees. These players are in D league for a reason. The majority of them are scrubs.

There has to be a "scrub" out there that is younger than green that would be good enough to be a end of the bench reserve, yes?

If they are better than Green why are they in the D league? Its like people here have selective memory. Willie Green was our starter last season and we did fine. He isn't someone that you can easily replace with random D league players. If players that were better than Green in the D league are so common they wouldn't be in D league. End of story. D league gems are very rare and often hit or miss(usually miss).

Well just to refresh our memory travis leslie was so good in d-league, but can't make a shoot when he was in our roster, just a simple comparison. of nba and d-league players.

I understand what you are saying, but my point is that these players do exist in the d league and aren't being scouted. Those players would play a little differently if they knew that there was a nba scout watching them for a week or two. I had a friend who was being scouted by the Kansas city royals as a pitcher when he was in h.s., and they came TO EVERY GAME he pitched, and were considering drafting him to their farm club, that is until his arm stiffened up after going 7-1, AND THEN they quit coming to his games after 2 more loses in a row. I know We don't have anyone following any "d" players that closely so these "gems" go undected unless they are flying off the stat sheets, that's all I'm saying.

At this point in the season we really can't afford any playing time to unknown D league players who will probably suck. Not to mention I doubt they can get into rhythm with only a few minutes a game. Even with Redick and Crawford out those minutes are better served given to Granger, Bullock and maybe even Willie. Not to mention Crawford comes back in a game or two so yea no minutes.

Not to mention all the time invested to get that player to learn out defensive and offensive schemes. It simply is not worth the effort.

Manny Harris is a sg. Extremely good rebounding. Bad 3pt percentage though.
