Even though I do really like Granger, I would have to take Barnes. With only a handful of games left in the regular season, it seems like we would be asking too much of Granger to jump back into a starting role. But if we still have Granger going into next season and he's proven to be a solid scorer who can stay healthy, then I'd be all in on him being our starter.

(PS. I was so excited that we signed him, I picked Granger in the poll by accident. Don't I feel stupid? Oh well. LOL)

Granger does not know the system.

Barnes should start he's playing well and has earned it. Granger hasn't been very good this year and is new to the team, he should have to earn it and he will be given chances to do so, but it should not be gifted to him.

The poll should read, one extra vote for Barnes. Apparently I can't read very well and picked Granger by mistake. At least I didn't pick Duds.

Maybe Granger gets worked in slowly, but within a few weeks, he will absolutely be the starter. I'm hoping he regains his form of a couple years ago and ends up being the third wheel in the Clippers Big 3 for more than just one year. Will he be able to be signed for a few more years or do we not have any cap space? I mean, we are also getting Paul Pierce next summer too.

Granger, so he gets really familiar with the system by playoffs and Finals time. He will be our X factor vs. the heat and pacers

Granger for defense+rebounding. Although Barnes and him are pretty equal this year so doesn't matter. Dudley better rarely play, that's the key here.

In the game against the Thunder Dudley played almost in entirely at PF and Turkoglu got a DNP-CD, I wonder if Doc was confident he would get Granger and was trying that out in anticipation.

Easy there fellas, washed out vet scoring 10 ppg isn't gonna be our magic saviour that takes us to the promised land, we still got Spurs, Thunder, Blazers.....Warriors, Rockets, Mavericks to get rid of before we take a dump on the East. Go Clippers!!!!!!

Matt earned his starting spot after the all star break. But i like him more coming off the bench. So in time i would start Granger and bring Matt of the bench for that extra spark. Dudley i don't know, he still has to prove himself to me.

I can't agree on him earning it. 2-3 games out of 60 is definitely not earning it.

I'm sorry to rain on this parade, while I am excited that we signed Granger, I am not that high on him yet. History tells me not to be excited about a veteran player who is in a funk, but that might be the old pessimistic clipper fan in me.

It might be a class half empty approach but it is definitely a fair point and I was concerned about how how healthy he is too.

I picked Granger, but it was based more on anticipation and high expectations. I think he will have to come off the bench at first, but would like him and Barnes to get staggered minutes so we can get a chance to see him play with the starters. We always talk about the CP3 effect, I'm hoping it helps bring his 3pt % back closer to his average. I also think he is getting healthier and has a chip on his shoulder.

I like that he brings some added toughness to the perimeter. It can't be Barnes all the time, at least now you know you will get that every time.

I am hopeful Granger pulls a Rudy Gay and improves his efficiency due to a change of scenery. Like many, I voted for Granger on optimism.

Granger is the starter,Barnes back to the bench good for the 2nd team.

I picked Granger. I like his spot up shooting combined with defense and play making ability off the drive. It would work well with the first unit. Barnes fits the 2nd unit because he plays more freely. Him and collison and Jamal (eventually).

Barnes for now,Granger when he learns the system. That will be part of why he (granger) comes here,to be a starter rather then a bench guy.

Granger after a game or two should start and Barnes behind him with Dudley competing with Hedo for PF. In other news Caron Butler signs with the Thunder.

Dudley is terrible and Barnes shouldn't be a starter... So it's a pretty easy decision.

If Dudley is going to play PF then we have 4 players at that position. In fact we now have 7 players at the PF and SF positions.

Thankfully Barnes and Bullock can roll out at SG and Granger and Dudley at PF. Davis can play majority of his time at C and Hedo can spot any forward spot.

Yeah that's quite a flexible set up. Doc's going to be looking at how they all fit and where his PO rotation will end up. Davis is a bit short for C, I am wondering if we need to add another big who's a genuine C.

I think Bullock will fit to cover the SG position since he is still young and has quickness, Maybe Doc can bring Sasha back for another 10 days and give more time to see if he can still play. i'm not fan of Gordon though.

I don't think it matters whether he starts now or in 3 weeks. I doubt he will be worse than Barnes and Dudley.

I rather him start now and get time with all the starters BC is think hell end up being the starter eventually

Focusing directly preparing for the playoffs, I would start Matt Barnes then have Granger come in for him. They will split the bulk of the SF position minutes for a week or so giving Granger time to know the system. I will only play Dudley if MB or Granger are having a bad game. This will keep both of them on their toes. If they don't play with heart, aggressiveness, and discipline, their playing time will be in jeopardy. After the "probation" period, I think Doc will have a good idea of who should start, get more minutes, and end the game with.

Doc is more concerned with where the team will be 20 games from now, not worrying about who starts at SF the next few games. The best thing that we have going for us is that we have players who can play 2 and even 3 different positions. Granger can potentially play the 2, 3, and 4. In the video I noticed that Granger is a pretty crafty passer as well. Doc can now put a variety of different looks on the floor and matchup to any situation. It will be hard to tell who is playing what position.

Why would it be Dudley when he isn't even starting right now?

Whomever the coaching staff decides, really don't know enough about what Granger's level of performance will be to say anything definitive about what role he should be playing.

I'm a bit perplexed at everyone picking Granger. He has been playing downright terrible this year. Barnes is a better defender, and while he struggled with injuries and inconsistency early in the season, he is back to old self now. In the month of February, he is shooting 48.9% from the field and 40% from 3. Granger on the other hand, is shooting 36% FROM THE FIELD this season. I hope he gets better, but until he shows that he can, he has to come off of the bench.

That's the main reason why he signed to Clippers as a starter ,the main selling point of Doc.

He could start in 2 games or 10. We'll see if it happens sooner or later or not at all.

Danny Granger was brought in because of Dudley's year. It happens and down years occur. When Dudley is out there he may be giving it his all but he always looks quite lackadaisical. The decision....

I wonder how long it will take this board to turn on Granger

when they realize this fantasy isn't real.

And the fantasy is Granger will join the clippers and magically

in 2-3 games he is going to be putting up 50ppg and be a lock

down defender ready to start.

In reality he himself has said he still hasn't got into game form

and will realistically take some time.

A more realistic time table will be 15-20 games until we start

to see a consistent Granger. We will no doubt see flashes, but

for the most part he will probably stink it up for 10-15 games.

Find me a quote where someone on this board say granger will average 50 point a game.

Since the day you came here you've criticized this board fan hood, loyalty and intelligence.

I think most in this board are excited to have someone who has the potential to take away Dudley's time

For the people knocking Dudley's effort his rebounding rate has way gone up since his knee has gotten better. Back in November he was only getting about 2 rebounds pretty 36, in February he was over 5 and pretty similar to Barnes or Granger. Most of his non-shooting numbers were up as well if you adjust for his drop in minutes. His problem last month almost entirely shooting.

Barnes has clearly been the best of the three recently though and it's not really close. Barnes was the best of the three last year as well. Whatever was wrong with Barnes earlier in the year, I'm glad he seems to be over it.

I think Doc finds time for all three with Turkoglu, Green and Bullock being the main guys losing out.

Obviously 50ppg is an exaggeration to demonstrate a point.

1. Your post is false. I haven't questioned anyones fanhood.

But there is a reality with this board that I've noticed which are unrealistic expectations

then turn around and abandon players, coaches, etc... when they don't meet them.

Do you need examples?

1. Trashing DJ and talks of trading him were all over this board. Even after

he was putting up great numbers, he was still being trashed by many members

because he hasn't turned into Dwight Howard, and defensive player of the year

in one season.

2. Doc Rivers - Many members started to turn on Doc as the GM just recently

before these big moves.

I've even seen members when were losing some games at the beginning

saying Doc wasn't a good coach.

3. Trade Jamal Crawford was huge at the beginning of this season.

4. CP3 gets injured and Griffin steps up, then there are members saying

in threads he needs to be traded, and stop "Ball dominating".

5. Trade Blake Griffin for kevin love threads because Blake hadn't developed

his 3pt shot as a Power Forward.

I have proven my point, which I didn't need to because all you

have to do is look through the threads and you see a consistent theme

of turning on players and coaches when unrealistic expectations aren't met.

If you have a problem with me pointing that out, then that's your problem.

Fans are going to throw ideas out there and this is a clippers forum where all kinds of ideas good bad and crazy are put out there. I feel like a lot of people forget its a forum with mainly opinions.

I think granger is going to fit in well. Do I think 20ppg? No, but once he starts grooving I think he will be in the 15ppg and 5 RPG range which would be great. Defensively it would be nice to have him do solid close outs and help keep people out of the paint.
