The Clippers are starting to click and playing their best ball of the year. This started back in January. even with the close losses to the heat and denver we were playing great ball Paul wasn't even back yet.

since Paul's return he have beaten POR,OKC and HOU yes we lost to SAS and MEM but even those were close contested games and MEM is just ridiculous, they can lose all other games but if they are playing the clippers all of a sudden they are world beaters.

Plus facing POR,OKC,HOU,SAS and MEM practically in a row is crazy and we did pretty well, add the heat a few games back without paul and you'll see the schedule has not been nice to us, plus we are STILL not 100%.

Why do I think we COULD win out.

  1. from here to the end of the season is the lightest the schedule looks ALL season long. This stretch of games is similar to last seasons 18-0 december.

  2. we havent had a good streak this year thus far, this team is too good not to have one.

  3. We are getting healthier and deeper, adding granger and getting paul back only leaves reddick out, when he comes back our team will be scary good.

4.you want to play your best ball towards the end of the season, doc knows this and he will have our guys ready.

I know the clippers can have an orlando/bobcats loss type of debacle here and there but if we don't win out i think we can finish with only 2-3 losses.

I wouldn't be surprised if Reddick came back next week. Doc said he shot for the first time and that was last week. Clippers can really achieve this. Reddick is the X-Factor. DJ and Granger....

the suns x2 is the games I'm least worried about, if you remember the suns loss was bledsoe's last game and although he was not that big of a factor in that game the suns were 19-11 with him and now have gone 15-13 with out him. the two "real" games we have are OKC at home and blazers @POR, hard games but winnable.

This. They seem to match up well with us. I was looking at the schedule and this team was the one that gave a lump in my throat. Remember, we play these guys 3 more times. They're also fighting off the Grizzlies for the last playoff spot. Oh, and Bledsoe WILL play in at least 2 of those games.

This is very possible. Even without JJ coming back.

I said earlier in the season PHX won't make the playoffs

and it looks like I'll be right once again.

Memphis will be in that 8th spot.

I honestly believe we blow PHX out at least 2 of the last 3.

Win out?? Settle down there Mike Smith. We have 21 games left! At Phoenix twice, at Portland, at Houston, at Dallas, vs. OKC. I would happy with 15-6 and absolutely thrilled with 16-5.

its always like that with a former team and not to be funny but its dud performance. I wouldn't be surprise if the reason why they match up well is because of him and that they didn't need him.

bled did well when he was playing to show he can make it on his own.

Don't you get him? he thinks your fandom is measured with how positive you're. Show any semblance of reality, he'll call you a negative know-nothing. Reminds me of the religious right.

That's a bold statement! The Western Conference is stacked and as a realist I am fully aware that OKC, SAS, POR, HOU, DAL, GSW, PHO, and MEM all would have legitimate shots to beat us. In fact we would be underdogs against OKC and SAS and near toss-ups between POR and HOU. Having said that, I would like to face Houston in the first round. Outisde of Howard, Harden, and Parsons, nobody on their teams scares me.

Keyword is "might", I gave the reasons why. Only 2 games that worry me as I said OKC and POR but both are winnable. I ain't worried about inferior teams hou,phx and dal.

Well, I wouldn't want to bet on this happening, but sure, anything CAN happen. But we have to be very wary of the teams sitting in 7 and 8 and 9 spots, they are fighting for their lives and will go to the mat to not lose.

Yeah... pretty much. After the Memphis game, I saw a possible 13-2 over the next 15 and so far we're 3-0.

I'm not saying it's impossible to win out, but a smart coach will rest players and keep his strategy close to his chest once he's realized he has already secured the highest possible playoff position.

If the last game against POR is important, we'll go all out. But if not... expect a scrub-fest.

I don't think resting our players will be a factor for two reasons.

If we are closing in on a strong finish as I am saying, then we will be in the mix for 2nd or maybe even 1st seed also doc does not want to face memphis or gsw, those two teams will loose to the kings in a 7 game series but put them against the clippers and all of a sudden they play like title contenders.

Winning out is a bit extreme, but since the schedule has finally started to let up, we can definitely head into the playoffs on a hot streak.

Meh... not much we can do about the 5-8 spots except for staying away from them. Even if we seed 1st, we could still face Memphis or the Dubs. I expect Doc to try to win games until it's either not important or advantageous for us to lose.

You are exactly right, that is why it is important to try and get the highest seed possible because with these good lower seeds the last thing you want is to say, rest your guys the last few games and then we end up in an unfavourable matchup.

If we end up in an unfavourable matchup because we went balls out to get the highest seed possible then its no biggie because you can't fault a team for winning.

If we begin to try and navigate our seeding (by resting/losing) then you open to "be careful what you ask for" type scenarios.

CASE IN POINT: if I recall correctly, in 2007 the mavs rested their players in a late game against the warriors. The clippers and warriors were battling for the 8th seed. The clippers lost the last game of the season on a game winner after dubs had clinch already. If dallas had played their starters that late game against the warriors, that last game for the clippers would be to clinch hence the mavs would have avoided the warriors by winning but instead they chose to avoid the clippers by losing to the warriors. At that point the clippers were considered the dangerous team. Well the warriors became the first 8 to beat a 1 in a 7 game series.

^ Yes, we all know the Mavs/Dubs story.

The point is that if we're locked into a 3-6 or 4-5 matchup with the Blazers, for example... both coaches would be stupid to show their cards or risk their key guys in a meaningless game. Players being rested and healthy is a lot more important going into the playoffs than seeding... unless one is trying to avoid a particularly bad matchup.

One or two extra regular season wins mean nothing in the post-season. Just ask Pop.

We don't need to win out.

Look at "12 Years a Slave", it didn't win out at the Oscars and was getting spanked by "Gravity" for most of the night until the last and most important Oscar, Best Motion Picture.

Let OKC have the #1 seed, let them have the individual awards. I want us to be holding up the FINAL award of the season, the Larry O'Brien.

I think a nice little streak or two are coming. I don't think there is a need to win out, but do think there is a slight possibility. I think 18-3 is a realistic possibility and locking up that 3rd seed would be good for us. I don't really think resting our players is absolutely needed as long as they aren't being overworked.

I think we won't be locked in, in any matchup until the last game. Seeds 2-5 and 6-9 will continue to be within a couple games within each other.

I can't remember the last time I was happy to see a laker win.

And to the point of this thread, how about we focus on trying to win the next game? I'd be concerned about it if I were you.

Besides being wrong you have trouble with reading comprehension, I said might and I acknowledged that they might have a couple bad losses.

Point of the thread, considering the reasons I listed the clippers MIGHT win out I know its a small possibility but its possible.

Schedule gets pretty laid back after the Suns and Warriors game. If we come out of those two with wins an undefeated March is really achievable. Considering that Portland is about to beat Houston ....

if JJ and/or jamal can make it back before the dallas game, 2 weeks from today, we have a really good chance at winning out. Jamal and reddick as just plain sick at shooting the ball and the way our team is playing.

Just wondering, if we reach the finals, who would you guys rather face? Heat or Pacers

Not exactly right. At season's start we were a lock for the PO's and a dark horse to go to the WCF's. We were Barkley's favorite team. The team imploded. We lost almost every road game. We beat ourselves. The Mavs tanked that game and I can't remember why. I think it was so they wouldn't play GSW in the Playoffs. Playing the Clippers was not an issue because we sucked canal water.

The Heat, it sounds rather dumb, But 4 finals in 4 years, They don't have the Size to match our Front line, and no Paul George who seems to want to Destroy us for Picking Amenu over him (still SMH on that one). I'd rather face the Heat, but then again I'd face anyone if it Means were getting to the NBA finals. Just to think something like that is possible is enough for me..... BUT I still like to get their and win.

Heat. BG and DJ can completely dominate inside. Pacers are too good defensively, they always have a chance to win even when shooting horribly. Call me crazy, but I don't think both Heat and Pacers would be in East finals. Bulls, Nets have a small chance, and Raps will have a shot if they match up with Pacers.

That Denver game is going to be hell and I suspecting a let down on a back to back. OKC and Houston we can handle.

that doesn't make sense, them tanking THAT game ensure they WOULD face GSW. Maybe it had nothing to do with us but even if it the reason was: hey if we lose THIS game we are facing GSW, lets tank it and not show our cards to them so to speak, even if that was the case what I am saying is you don't want to play the "lets lose and and start controlling who we face game" I'm of the believe your goal should be getting the highest seed possible and face whoever you draw.

The clippers have easy match ups coming into playoffs.

The team, that are the scariest here are rockets, Dallas, and even denver. The rest are pretty easy.

The clippers are on a 10 game winning streak, so if they win each game, they can beat their 17 game winning streak from last year =D
