Last night against the Jazz he was clearly struggling with it. Had a heating pad on during the game and was favoring it all night. [update 3/29] Blake Griffin suffered back spasms in the March 29 game vs the Rockets in the first quarter, and did not return to the game.

Here's a question I have been pondering:

When the NBA eliminated hand checking, the game sped up. Could that be the reason there are so many more injuries in today's NBA?

In an injury-prone League (DRose, Wade, etc.) it appears avoiding injuries (like JJ) is more important than just about everything else.

As to the OP question, I think Griffin is a strong guy who will get through it all.

Bumping this now that it is obvious he has been trying to play through back spasms.

If there's a silver lining to this (hoping it's only a few games), it's that CP will become more aggressive, the same way blake did with CP out. Plus it gives blake some much needed rest (he's been playing way too many complete 2nd halves).

who even knows if we are better off with the 2 or 3 or the 4? I say whichever one doesn't match us with memphis I'll take.

Say send him back to LA rest up and see how he feels when the team returns. No need to rush him.

****! Hope it's not serious. He always suffers an injury heading into the playoffs.

Since we're up 2 games on Houston (3 games if you include the tie breaker), I say we sit Blake for a while. No reason to rush him back before he's ready. We can't afford to have him injured during the playoffs.

We are actually only up 1 game because they only have 1 more loss than us. But yeah, we do have the tiebreaker so I guess we are up by 2 games.

Day to day. Sounds like it could be related to a hip injury.

With the hip thing lingering sure Doc will be very catious with him. Does Doc trust Davis start after emotional lapse? Granger back home does not help think going against inside out players at PF the next two games Dudley should get the start.

We are better off at the 2 or 3! Any other seed will face the Spurs second round. You want to face them in the WCF when Memphis has beat them up and Houston takes their punch because they own the Spurs

The game was faster in the 80's than now, it slowed down in the 90's because of iso ball, hand checking was alive in both scenarios.

Injuries have always been a part of the game. When you play 82 games, that's kind of what is going to happen. I think what we also have know is superior diagnosis of injuries, so things are being taken care of that might have been overlooked at previous times and ended up becoming worse.

Guard injuries though are being examined as to whether there is an correlation to a lot of the hard planting that a lot of modern advanced dribble moves integrate and the added stress it puts on the joints.

Blessing in disguise? ??? We don't need him right now. .. let him rest. .. he's been getting beat up lately. ...i think this might be good for him as well as big baby. .. more playing time with cp3. We'll see

I agree, we don't need a lingering injury going into the playoffs and nobody needs rest like Blake does.

You need some luck to win an NBA Championship. This could be a really lucky break. The better teams -- those in the playoffs -- tend to be cleaner, play on a higher level and are less thuggish. It is the bottom dwellers who have those awkward and dirty players who would rather injure Blake than get schooled. The less bum teams BG plays against, the better.

I agree. Unfortunately for my fantasy team this will be very painful.

He's 50/50 for the Timberwolves. I wouldn't mind saying he's available to play, but keeping him out unless he's absolutely needed.

My prediction: doc sits Blake, big baby apologizes to the team... they all rally behind him and he has a monster game in Blake's absence! Or Blake just sits (rest) and we come out with a W because we played as a team and figured out a way to win without BG. Haha

It's best to let Blake rest so come playoff he is fresh and ready to play. Hopefully JJ too.

I hope Doc rests Blake for the Suns game. We've got a little bit of a vision between Houston and I'm not sure a shot at the #2 seed is worth Blake having an nagging injury in the playoffs.

If Blake does not play tomorrow, would you guys be okay with sitting CP3 and DJ also?

There's a 90% chance Blake and Jamal do not play in the Suns game.

I would love to see CP3 get some time off, DJ I think needs to stay in to keep himself fresh. He seems the type, to me, that if he sits it is worse for him.
