Interesting take on Jamal's career as a sixth man. I don't know if he has the work ethic necessary to start. I remember when we signed him and that season he said he has never worked out.

He has the skills to start on any NBA team, but a coach wants to get the whole starting unit working together, not scoring in isolation. Besides, it's not about who starts games, but who finishes them... and Jamal is on the floor in crunch-time more often than not. A championship ring would do more for his legacy than any number in the "GS" column.

I think a championship is definitely the ultimate, but there are smaller individual feats that define players more. Like if Vince Carter ever wins a ring, he'll be known first as a slam dunk champion and then an NBA champion. Can't sleep on those individual accolades.

Yeah, but do you really want to be like Antawn Jamison. Hall of fame stats with no ring.

This suggestion is bogus, you telling me Manu Ginobli's career is gonna be stifled cause he comes off the bench?

Jamal could start but its not even about starting really as I mentioned earlier this year its about age, career longevity, and stamina. If jamal starts his minutes tend to spike and at 34 he could easily play 3 more seasons at this level if his minutes are monitored.

It has nothing to do with isolations he is proven by now that he can score in every imaginable way and it ain't about defense either as throughout this season his Def. rating has been ,

Nov 104

Dec 105

Jan 101

Feb 105

for the year he is at 102.8 while james Hardens is 102.3.

let me add that I'm not saying jamal is better or even as good harden but he has given this team top ten sg in the league play whether he has started or come of the bench. that is why I think he should win 6th man this year not simply because he is having a good year for a bench player like some of the other guys but because Jamal has been one of the best players at his position this year. He Is even gotten better defensively in Doc's system this year which most thought was impossible

I don't believe Manu has always come off the bench.

The role of 6th man is arguably more important than that of an average starter. I fail to see how this stifles Crawford's career at all. Its not like he was an All Star.
