While some of you are debating who's the better coach, here's a great read about Doc's beginning adventure as coach of the LA Clippers. Very well written with a little style by Paul Flannery. Take a time out and enjoy:

^ I think you missed the point. I'm not debating who's better, just whether Vinny was really as terrible as some people like to think.

Nice article, though.

I hated Vinny's offensive schemes, rotations, and a lot more , but I do not think he is a bad coach as some of you say. We can't just blow off this guy because we got Rivers. This guy won 56 games last season. Our First Pacific Division Title. You just don't do that in a competitive West and a back then East as well.

Doc is an extreme coach , and he fits everything Del Negro wasn't. Del Negro still won games and I think he should still be coaching in this league. Maybe Head Coach and Maybe Assistant. I also believe Byron Scott, Lionel Hollins, and George Karl should still be coaching.

A team like the Magic or Pelicans and may be the Lakers could use any one of those guys. Byron Scott may be a good choice for the Lakers.

But Del Negro should be respected on here, even though we did not like what he did sometimes much. He still one and took us to a Western Conf. Semis and playoffs 2 years in a row. Teams just do not go out there and play. They are coached and the players and coaches should each get 50% of the credit for their teams failure and success

I love doc, he is an excellent coach and I think the values he has instilled in our younger players is priceless. I feel much better knowing he is at the helm. Anyone know if he still brings up the Ubuntu concept? No one has mentioned it.

I agree, a lot of us last season blamed coaching for failures. How are people feeling this year? I really hope we can advance to conference finals but it's so hard to picture beating spurs or thunder in seven games without home court. Sort of demoralizing

Didn't miss the point and for sure not singling you out mate. I just though this was an interesting well written expose'. Keep up the good fight though as I know you always do.

I'm also in the corner that thinks Vinny wasn't as bad as some here made him out to be. Sorta like what some people thought of DJ. Very Happy

What a great read. Thanks for posting the link!

Doc has really changed the Clippers organization for the better and it's wonderful all his players have bought in. He may not be using the word "Ubuntu" now, but the concepts and spirit of team togetherness certainly are present and all the players are better because of it.
