Building a new "state of the art" facility to help recruit free agents...but I thought they didn't need to recruit anyone? People should be honored to wear the purple and gold. Lol.

That said, I still feel like the clippers facility will remain the nexus of off season life for players

Makes a lot of sense for them. Playa Vista was among the first rungs on our ladder to the upper echelons.

Looks like the lakers are following the Donald Sterling model for building a winning organization.

Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16 Writing that was just too much fun... I have to do it again!

That could be true, but until we actually win something...Very Happy

Hopefully it's this year or very soon.

^ Under their current owners, the Clips have been more successful than the lakers.

Jimmy Buss did not inherit his daddy's track-record. They're not the same franchise anymore. I've never understood why things that happened in past decades in other cities or under different owners has any bearing on what a team is today. Attendance figures and national viewing numbers for laker games this year would seem to agree with me. They're not the draw they once were.

I give the Thunder credit for unashamedly "starting over" in their new city and not trying to claim Seattle's honors as their own. We are still tied to the Clippers awful recent history because we are still in L.A. and Donald is still the owner, but he deserves no credit or blame for anything that occurred during the Buffalo days and if some other billionaire buys the team tomorrow, he deserves no credit or blame for what came before him.

Dinosaurs used to rule the planet, but their pigeon descendants don't particularly frighten me. Rome used to be the most powerful nation on earth... these days, they're taking handouts from the EU. History is quaint and all... but it's not power.

As far as I'm concerned, the lakers name is all their fans have left to cling to.

To paraphrase the great William Shakespeare: "What's in a name? That which we call a turd by any other name would stink just as bad."

*Chuckle*....I agree, but with that said (with your usual sharp wit and all) still won't mean squat until we win "something".

P.S.

Wonder what the great Christopher Marlowe would have said.

Have you seen the Lakers' practice facility in El Segundo? Ours look a palace compared to theirs.

How about: "Money can't buy love, but it improves your bargaining position - at least, it did under the old CBA"

That sounds pretty relevant to the lakers Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16

As long as we keep moving forward as we have been, a championship will come.
