We would have to give up a first round pick, or a few, as well. But, I would much rather have Melo as well. Plus, Doc would help him defensively. 3-peat team right there.

How is this even in question? LeBron all day! Melo is a selfish brick-chucker and severely overrated. He also is a poor fit for us because he's better as a 4 but we already have Blake.

Melo fits better, but I'd still take the best player in the world any day...

Lebron all day every day; that being said, if he's not available, I'd gladly take 'Melo over our current SF

Neither, as both would be a very additive gain imo, and, therefore, wouldn't warrant the cost. Give me our current staff of small forwards, and improve our most glaring weakness (still): backup bigs.

Has no jump shot? He's shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc. That's actually better than Jamal Crawford's shooting %. Lebron's not a sharp shooter, but he still has a good jump shot.

LeBron makes everybody better and he is one of the few elite defenders in the league, and he can do it at practically any position.

Exactly. He likes to pass and he plays great defense, unlike Melo, who I do actually like. The fact that Lebron is so unselfish makes him a great fit for any team.

Neither are even possible why are we even talking about it? Lol. Laker fan like thread right here.

Lebron of course can drive and pass the ball to any open guy, with CP3 and Lebron in the floor plus Blake it's like we have 3 PG with different sizes.

Lebron by a mile lol and his jump shot is fine. If Lebron has no jump shot neither does Blake.

Most likely neither is a realistic option though.

Lebron has no jumpshot? What are we in 2004 or something? lol

The guy has made 39% of his last 534 3PA, if that's not having a jumpshot, then I don't even know what to say.

The real question though is why is this being asked as if there's some sort of option to get either player

Seroiusly not keen on watching Melo throw up bricks and make selfish plays all day, LB makes smart basketball plays and makes everyone better, but having him devoids the need for a superstar PG like CP on the same team. Oh the dillemma thank goodness realisticly its not a situation we will have to deal with

Its not ideal but I don't see how its any worse than a Lebron and Wade combo.

Lebron. He can score, draw double/triple teams, facilitate, and defend. Melo can score, but forces the issue. Pull up 3's in transition? There has to be a better option than a pull up j.

Blake, DJ, and LeBron would dominate the open floor.

I'd trade CP3 for LeBron in a nanosecond if LBJ decides to come here. Problem solved. A core of LBJ and Blake gives the rest of the league absolute fits because of their size, strength, athleticism, and guard skills.

the obvious answer is Lebron James..... But I went for the realistic choice... Resign Granger trade Duds...

If we get Melo then he is our #3 man. If we get LBJ then CP3 is our #3 man.

I don't know about you guys but if Chris Paul is your 3rd best player......you are going to win multiple championships.

I'm not even sure I'd take Melo over Bosh. Positioning would be weird, but he knows how to play with superstars.

Sadly the Ariza ship has sailed. We had our chance and "preserved chemistry". Unless he's asking for unreasonable amounts which would keep him out of our hands anyway, i'd be very surprised if Washington didn't keep him.

Deng is probably going to ask for a little more money than this team can throw out. If he wanted $8M, it would be great and workable, but good luck with that as a GM when he'll be getting much more lucrative offers

If this was meant to be realistic didn't think it was, then the only realistic option as of now is the resign Granger etc option.

Why does keeping Barnes/Granger need to involve trading Dudley? Dudley recently had a game where he started at PF against Kevin Love and did well and he's filled in for Granger lately as well. Granger's health isn't too reliable, so we'd probably want extra depth at the position anyway. Having a versatile player who can fill multiple gaps as needed is pretty useful to have around.

The proposed trade doesn't work $ wise.

It's a complete no brainer which you'd choose

Moot point anyway...not happening.

i was just saying id rather take ariza or deng because they would seem to fit the team better and wouldn't cost as much as lebron/melo. getting ariza and deng seems a little more realistic than getting melo or lebron though. the more realistic options would be getting pierce or resigning granger

The only player who can convince LBj to come here is CP3 not Doc so trading CP3 for LBj is very slim.

Melo isn't even a top 5 player.

I don't disagree with that, just saying that sadly even though would be very difficult to accomplish, not to talk of Lebron or Melo. The whole thread is weird, lol

A Lot of confusion on this thread. There were rumors a while back that Melo and LeBron wanted to play here or with Chris and for Doc. I know you can't get both. To clear....

No confusion, it's just a waste of time. Razz

It's a lot more difficult playing GM then just saying who you'd want, LOL.

And again, for sh!ts and giggles, it's a no brainer.

Melo a role player? eh? I thought he was a franchise superstar ball stopper, which is pretty different.

Edit.Oops. I think I misunderstood what you were saying, my bad.

I'm a Lebron hater and I said resign Granger (most realistic and we keep CP3), but if you are keeping Blake then you have to take Lebron. From a basketball standpoint that is an unstoppable group. Just fill with 3 and D type players.

I wouldn't trade Blake or CP3, just for loyalty reasons in any case. Carmelo would be ok, but I wouldn't consider giving too much more then Crawford and Dudley or something similar. Heck honestly I'd have trouble trading DJ and Crawford for just about anybody too, even though I've mentioned it before.

Why hate LOL, theres no loyalty in the NBA, its a business and you do what ever it takes to win it all, even if it meant trading BG/CP

BG is off the table, I don't care who is on the other side. His potential is as high as anybody's and he is our draft choice. That doesn't happen as often as it should.

Instead of LeBron or Melon, the Clips should get a young swing that's okay with being a 3rd option but will step it up once CP regresses with age. Maybe Indiana will panic and give us PG for some draft picks and role players.

Revist why? You think the Heat will sign and trade him to us? You think we have the cap space to get melo? No? Then let it go...

I think LeBron and griffin would be great together too..

trade paul for lebron..

we can keep collision...he would stay to be a starter..ucla guy

we have collision, redick. lebron, griffin and dj..

then dj would resign for the same amount to stay and play with lebran..

we have bullock, crawford, barnes, and baby would probably stay too if lebran was here..

get a back up point in the draft..

maybe trade dudley for a pick and get a back up big,

and win the championship next year!!!

with a new owner too..

and have a parade!!!

Lebron isn't coming here if we have to give up CP. I don't know why that is so difficult for some of you to understand. If we have to give up Blake to get the best player in the world (and one of the best players of all time), then who wouldn't do that trade? Best possible scenario would be to keep CP and Blake, but that is difficult. Big no to Melo as we don't need another chucker. But this is all moot point considering the chances of either one coming here are slim.

Yep, and I think losing to OKC showed Doc our biggest flaw. LENGTH!

We can't get by anymore with 6'9" players at the Center position. Good riddance Big Baby.

It would be hard to see Blake Griffin go, but if we did do a straight up swap for Lebron, couldn't the Clippers then add Pau Gasol for MLE to fill in at PF? Pau may be interested in staying in LA and will have a starting spot on a very competitive team. Additionally, we add Paul Pierce and re-sign some of those folks that opted out and add a couple bigs like Kris Humphreys, Shawn Marion, and Andray Blatche or Birdman to fill out the roster. So the Clippers could sport this lineup next season

PG CP3, Collison

SG Redick, Crawford, Willie Green

SF Lebron, Pierce, Barnes, Dudley

PF Pau Gasol, Kris Humphreys, Shawn Marion

C Deandre, Blatche

I think this team competes for the NBA title next season. Of course, lots of these veterans are going to have to be willing to play for minimal contracts.

Keep our core team and add some defense. LeBron needs to go to a team that is going to build around him. I can't believe everyone thinks their team can win a championship with LeBron or Carmelo. The Clips have their Stars and we don't need neither one.

why not straight up paul for lebron???

then get livingston and collision for point guards???

then pick up pau gasol for pf and c backup??

that sounds better to me.. Smile
