Warrior fans need to get over Bogut being injured. One of my close friends is a Warrior fan from the bay and that's all he talks about too. That has to be the worst excuse ever. You guys knew what you were getting when you traded for him, an injury prone player. What else did you expect? My buddy still says he would take Bogut over DJ, "when healthy." That Is my point. He will always get injured, every season. It doesn't fail. His only healthy season was his rookie season. DJ (if I'm not mistaken) is the league's iron....

Exactly. We have CP3, also a somewhat injury prone player. That is why we have always had a starting caliber backup for him as insurance (Bledsoe and now Collison). The W's tried to do that this year with O'neil and Speights, but we all know those 2 are not starters in this league. The missing piece for the warriors this year, besides a quality big to backup Bogut, is Jarret Jack. He was huge for them last year and was great insurance for Curry's ankle's.

I wonder, how come no one gives Derrick Rose any crow? He's played 5 games in 3 years, and people still be like, Oh He needs another MVP like season for the Bulls to win a championship, I'm like REALLY? He ain't even gonna play man, GEEZ!

Completely different scenario. Chicago has a lot of money tied up in Rose and his real injury problems only began after that contract was already signed.

The warriors traded for Bogus, knowing his history of fragility, then extended him another 3 years after he only played 32 games last year.

To quote their GM: "We put a lot of money into believing he's going to be healthy".

They gambled... against bad odds... twice... and when you gamble recklessly, more often than not, you lose.

Two things:

1) The injury history of Bogut is the reason Meyers pursued Dwight Howard last year. Though most of my fellow Warriors fans were unhappy with that decision I supported it only because of Bogut's injury history.

2) But once Howard made his decision, the Warriors had no choice but to sign Bogut. And it was a good decision because he is a very, very good center, and those don't come by often. Seriously, unlike Rose, Bogut has not suffered injuries to the same part of his body. He's had a bunch of freak injuries to many parts. Guy is like Evil Knievel. None of those injuries came because he is injury prone. They came because he is a physical player and quite frankly he's had bad luck.

Injury prone is injury prone no matter how you slice it.

Bogut is "prone" to "injury"......that's what injury prone means. Do you understand now?

Nonsense. A player who is often injured is an injury-prone player. That's all there is to it.

PRONE - adj. having a natural inclination or tendency to something; disposed; liable

Your bemoaning the fact that the warriors might stand a better chance in this series "if" Bogut were healthy is no different than if I were to say that we'd have taken game #1 "if" DJ had made all his FT's.

Though both statements are equally true... if one is relying on them for success, he is likely in for a disappointment.

Players are who they are, and after 6 years of DJ being a bad foul shooter, I've accepted that DJ is a bad foul shooter.

And after 8 years of Bogut repeatedly missing significant portions of every season due to injury, it's time for you to give up your little fantasy and accept that Bogut is an injury-prone player.

Predict all you like. Just for fun, I'll go ahead and predict Blake continuing to put up >1 point-per-minute, and the Clippers hitting their series average of 120 ppg.

It's all kind of moot until they put those numbers in the book, though, isn't it.

Still, at least my Clippers numbers are based on precedent. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_08

He still played 67 games this season, its not like Bogut is expected to not play. The was a major part of their success this year. But I do agree that he is "injury prone"... 67 is actually a good year for him

That's my whole point. They've already gotten more out of Bogut this season than he's usually capable of giving before breaking down, but they're moaning that they need him to face the Clips.

Yet if they'd rested him enough to be healthy for the postseason, it's unlikely they'd have made the playoffs at all. They were only 3 games better than 9th place.

They knew what they were getting... a guy who is good for - on average - 55 games a year. They rode him 'til the wheels fell off, and now they're whining about being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Good post. The Warriors have given Bogut a lot of rest in order to preserve him for the playoffs, but there isn't much you can do when someone breaks his rib. And that is a seriously painful injury. Not sure he can play with it. Anyway, I hope you're right that he returns. Would love to see a few minutes out of him on Thursday. If he comes on the floor on Thursday night, the crowd is going to go crazy.

Warriors!

That's OK... he's a big boy, and $12,000,000 a year buys a lot of tylenol. Very Happy

If that rib gets cleared and Bogut changes his mind about a shot, that would erase all the bad memories of Monday night. But I've heard nothing about Bogut possibly coming back. I'm pretty sure he's out for the entirety of this series.

If that rib gets cleared, my money's on some kind of a nose issue sidelining him again after one game back.

It's as good a guess as any as to what his next string of DNP's will be caused by.

I never felt rose deserved that MVP to begin with. He only got it because they were 41-41 with VDN the season prior. People forget about who was on his team...Omer Asik, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, Boozer, Kyle Korver, Watson, Deng a couple other role players and of course the white Mamba Brian Scalabrine! But I mean they did win like 60 games that season... Idk if I'd place a healthy rose in my top 5 pgs right now.

Also yes Bogut is injury prone, he needs to build up stronger bone density or something... If we had a Deandre Jordan type center who could run the floor rebound block shots I would've been happy, sucks he was a restricted free agent. Sucks we gave up Wright we could use him right now.

Cut them a break Cleepers their original plan of acquiring a durable center in DJ was stymied when DTS matched their offer. That money had to be offered to any center, no matter how injury prone, before Mark Jackson found his way to it and then donated it to Oaklands finest strippers

He could have killed two birds with one check... pay the stripper $12,000,000 to start at center and he probably would have gotten the STD's thrown in for free.

Thanks for bumping up the thread, DN. Have you had a chance to read Adam Lauridsen's Post: "Go Small or Go Home" over at the Fast Break Blog? It's a great read and provides great data and analysis that are keys to the Warriors for the rest of the series.

Here's hoping the Warriors employ some of his suggestions. From what Mark Jackson has said, I think they will.

Repped High Quality Post

This annoying thread needs to be deleted. It doesn't belong in a Clippers forum at all. If we wanted to get another team's perspective, we can check out their site and read up in what they have to say. To read this garbage here creates too much negativity and offers no real input other than to be an annoyance.

I'm more interested in collecting belly button lint that listening to another team's perspective. I don't care. The only thing I want to hear from another team's fans is the sigh of disappointment when we beat them. To paraphrase Ghegis Khah "I want to destroy my enemy, leave their fans in tears and pork their cheerleaders"
