How did he even get the clippers to begin with...They should input a rule where an owner is obviously detrimental they should have to relinquish control...DTS basically bought the clippers 30 years ago and shitted on the entire franchise the entire time. The NBA holds this L for allowing this to happen

This has become such a clown show that they should start playing Yakety Sax during Donald's witnesses' testimony.

Closing arguments set for Monday. Shouldn't be more than a day, then however long it takes the judge to rule. Honestly, I think he's already decided but he doesn't want to give Donald any grounds for appeal - like he rushed his decision without due consideration of the evidence - so my guess is he'll take 2-3 days before he renders a verdict.

Still, I'll be shocked if we don't have a verdict by the end of next week.

And he had to pay both of them... his doctor and the marketing 'expert' from the nuggets.

Ever get the feeling nobody likes you, Donald?

Strong argument that Shelly is doing what's best for the family finances, with a sidebar opinion from Lester Munson that the latest suit filed will be laughed out of court...

Yeah that little note from Munson is golden. He says there is a small chance he could be granted an injunction, but highly unlikely. I've always thought Munson was pretty reliable so I find that comforting. I like him better than that other legal guy ESPN has.

Donald's lawyers have every right to claim a victory... they've paid off their mortgages and put their great-grandkids through ivy-league college with the fleecing they just put on that senile old fart.

As for Donald - well, he's just embarrassed himself playing the game he invented... kinda like England at the world cup Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_33

But then, I always knew that it was a fight they could never win... kinda like Donald vs. the NBA Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16

Closing Statements are to take place on Monday. The judge will be making a verdict then but I am unclear if this new lawsuit DTS has filled against the NBA and Shelly Sterling under corporate fraud will further tie up the sale of the team. I would assume it would. That would make way for Doc's departure and probably all of are roster who were said to be able to be given a way out by Adam Silver, if I read into what he was saying correctly.

I thought that too, but it turns out he can only get monetary damages from his fraud lawsuit, and Judge Levanas can invoke a specific clause in his verdict preventing DTS from appealing or holding up the sale anyway.

Why can't Donald Sterling go out like Pat Bowlen the Broncos owner?

He is well loved by his fans and the city. They will have a big celebration in his

honor. And fans will shed a tear for him.

He admits he has Alzimers. And it seems very close to his situation. Age.

It would seem human nature to want to go out in a good manner.

so this would mean that the money hungry lawyers are playing Donald Sterling

in his old age as much as they can.

It just doesn't make much more other sense.

Amazing post. Great writing!

I've rubbed shoulders with Donald for a decade. I never even thought he might remember my name, but I did fall for the trap that he may care for us fans. These past three months have shown Donald cares about ONLY Donald.

With that said, I do think the NBA has him in a corner and should revoke the lifetime ban. You've won NBA. Give the man an inch.

If he were classy and simply sold the team with a Thank You to the fans and Good Luck wishes to Doc and Steve Ballmer, with the obligatory "if I can help in any way," then I would revoke the lifetime ban. But by putting us through this desultory legal circus, he deserves TWO lifetime bans. And a monitor to detect if he comes within five miles of Staples Center.

This Sterling makes Al Capone look good.

I'm willing to bet that within six months of the resolution of all this, Donald's lawyers will be suing him for non payment.

Although his lawyers are pretty sharp and probably demanded payment in advance, like at MacDonald's when you pay first and then you get your food.

Exactly. Donald Sterling doesn't give a rat's ass about any of us. He just wants our money, just like he wants money from the tenants who live in his buildings. Any plea to him to do the right thing by fans is a waste of energy and beyond naive.

Sterling is not being played by his lawyers. He's the conductor here, however enfeebled. There are a number of differences between Pat Bowlen and Donald Sterling that make them take opposite approaches to their ownership. Pat Bowlen is a good and caring human being who values the people around him and the fans who spend their hard-earned money on the Broncos. Donald Sterling is a self-loving bastard who sees his employees and Clipper fans as commodities to be exploited. DTS leaves an entire life history to prove he doesn't belong breathing the same air as Pat Bowlen. He will never be beloved. He is Scrooge without the night time callers.

Sterling is a lousy excuse for a human being and that's why he does as he does.

You make a good point. It would be hilarious if they had to sue to get paid.

But it's quite obvious that he retained the McDonald's of legal teams, as they are clearly favoring quantity over quality in their product... lawsuits.

What is DS's aim with all this? If he manages to keep ownership the Clippers franchise will crumble, Doc, Chris , Blake and the other other players will leave. How does that serve DS finacially or otherwise? If he is all about greed why doesn't he just take the money of the sale and f*** off???

It's all about ego with him. He can't let go of the fake fame/importance he thinks he gets from owning an NBA team.

He probably also thinks everyone's just bluffing about boycotting against him. Can't say I blame him for that - after decades of the NBA kicking the can down the road, it's no wonder this clown feels invincible.

People are missing the point as to who DTS is. Time for lesson from the president of Cynics Anonymous

Sterling does not have fake fame or importance. They are real He has been famous for years and any billionaire is important. It is impossible to embarrass DTS. He has no shame and he is beneath reproach. Sociopaths do not understand shame. With the exception of people who invent things, self made billionaires are never nice guys, usually cut throats and at best SLIGHTLY sociopathic. Usually they are usually heartless crooks. Please look at the Robber Barons. Gates is not a choir boy. These people know how to wield power, that's how they get and stay rich. They do not care what anyone else thinks but themselves and their "girlfriends" He doesn't care about the fans. He may think we are suckers for being LAC fans during the down years. They REFUSE to lose. A self made billionaire gets that way by having an iron will to win, Losing is not an option. They are usually brilliant and a move ahead of most. They are unpredictable so you can not know what they will do next. They are spiteful and vindictive to a flaw.

Saddam blew up his own oil wells. When the Portuguese left Angola and Mozambique they poured concrete in all the sewers and destroyed all the infrastructure. Why? Because they lost. DTS would spend a billion dollars in this fight without blinking an eye. He does not care what happens to the Clippers. He doesn't care about the fans CP3 or Doc Rivers. He just cares that he owns the Clippers. He will let the whole franchise fall apart before he gives in. Cross hm and he would crush you for fun.

As far as Capone someone and I can't remember who once said the Capone was the most honorable man he ever met. He didn't lie and always kept his word. If said he's kill you he would but if he said you were safe you didn't have to worry. He spelled out his rules. If you broke one you were dead He did not lose. Sterling isn't a murderer but Capone was a better human being otherwise. Would DTS have been a bootlegger? Hell Yes

Infamy is not the same as fame. Sterling thinks he's a celebrity and a local institution, when in reality, he's a pariah who should be in an institution.

Well said, too hip While I think you are being hard on most other billionaires, many of whom are wonderful, generous, philanthropic people, you have DTS down cold.

Comparing Sterling to the robber barons at the turn of the 20th century is very appropriate. These guys employed people and kept them in company housing, buying groceries from the company and literally stealing back every penny they paid them. When the workers tried to unionize, they sent in thugs to bust the unions. They built stunning mansions that served as monuments to themselves. Interestingly, many of these mansion stand idle and unlived in now. Sterling would have done all that and more.

If you get a chance read the poem, Ozymandias by Percy Shelley. It's about man's arrogance and the monuments we build to ourselves that inevitably return to dust.

Repped High Quality Post

Anyone willing to work on a viral video project directed directly to Donald Sterling with me? I just need some source created, I can do the editing. I also need some short clips of Clippers fans in their gear (shot horizontally, not vertically... slap yourself if you've ever shot video with your phone vertical) saying "Please" or "Please Donald". The premise would be "Please don't live up to the hype" and would basically point out the years and years that analysts, ath-a-letes, and fans of other teams have rubbed in our noses that no matter what the Clippers do, the success they find, Donald Sterling WILL find a way to screw it up.

So not a direct appeal to do it for the fans, an appeal not to live up to the hype of being a screw up.

Again I'm the president of Cynics Anonymous but

fame --"Being known or talked about by many people especially on account of a notable achievement"

infamy "the state of being known for some bad quality or deed" A bad deed is a notable event.

All infamous people are famous but all infamous people are not LAL fans.

Again except for people who invented something, most self made billionaires are nice and philanthropic only after their blood lust has quelled. Carnegie, Ford, Gates, Huntington, Rockefeller, Joseph Kennedy. Then there is Rupert Murdock. Most billionaires and now in Russia and they didn't get that way by exporting vodka. Let's not mention the Chinese.

Yes there are some decent ones but not many.
