Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the eve of the 1992 LA (Race) Riots. The Clippers were in the playoffs for the first time 16 years and it was DTS' first playoff experience (how fitting). Also fitting that the team was led by none other than PG Doc Rivers.

That's the towel they gave out to fans for game 3.

Max Kellerman is right, people should go to the games to support of course, but also to keep DTS in the spot light so the story never dies out. #DTSgottaGO

To me it's sounds like a set up TBH she is too ugly that even if she will spread her legs in front of me while eating my hamburger, i will just finish my hamburger and order another one. Mr Sterling's problem was, he talked too much, and that B*** has a follow up question as if she is doing an interview. And the old fart gentleman is so genius to answer her every question.

That is really cool ekker. If I were you I'd frame that towel. This current incident reminds me of the situation where the Clippers had to play in Orange County due to the riots. They beat the Jazz in probably the most emotional NBA game I experienced, let alone one that Ralph Lawler broadcasted. Ralph was hoarse at the end of the game. It still gives me the chills.

Apparently Sterling wanted to talk to Doc Rivers, but Doc declined:

Wasn't that kind of obvious. Doc is bolting as soon as he can, as this is not his first run in with racists (house was burned down).

Clipper fan since 1986-87 ,sterling is a 81 y/o racist fool period ,money got him in the position as owner and money will get him out !!! Sir Charles said it right ( believe it or not ) the other white owners need to put pressure on the nba to fix this issues fast ,cuz this issue is bigger than basketball itself. I believe the players need to put there money where there month is on this issue ,and this will be fixed ASAP ," boycott all playoffs period " if the players are Truly united on this issue ,money wouldn't matter and the owner / tv / sponsors would be in a tail spin ,the owners would ask for Sterlings head ASAP !,,,Until that happens he will not be removed just stupid fines etc etc bs , because these owners will not step up as for fear that this could happen to them ,,,unless money is effecting them they won't say **** !! The owners need to ask for Sterlings head period !!

Yeah, all the players will be gone, all the sponsors will still be gone, and a large number of fans, including myself, will be gone too.

The only way sterling gets completely removed from this league ,is pressure from the owners ,but the owners are in fear this could happen to them in a different situation. That's why I suggest a complete boycott of the playoffs. That's will get the owners ( good old boy club ) to move !! Mark my word this might happen. God I hope not but this situation won't go away with just a fine / suspension !! I love my clippers basketball ,but come on man this idiot is a bad seed and needs to go now and us as fans have to stand behind this team !

It would be so classy of the Warriors if they also followed in the Heat/Blazers footsteps and also wore their gear inside out. Too bad they aren't a classy organization, oh well.

Good article by KAJ on the absurdity of the just-now moral outrage. Pretty much what I was trying to say earlier, but much more eloquent: http://time.com/79590/donald-sterling-kareem-abdul-jabbar-racism/

I thought the KAJ article was ridiculous because of the ridiculous assumption that 5 years ago someone else besides the diehards gave a damn about Sterling or the Clippers. The only press the Clippers got a as little as 5 years ago was the blooper reel. It seems to me that the are quite a few people WHO KNEW what Sterling was about and that instead owning their own crap because they didn't do anything they want to assume that everyone knew as much as they AND DID NOTHING simply to make themselves feel better about their own lack of action.

Someone anyone please tell me what the owners of the worst team in the league the Milwaukee Bucks are doing in their personal time. Obviously everyone should know because we all follow the ownership of the bottom dwellers in sports meticulously. I'm sorry but the travesty in all of this is when people spout nonsense just to take an alternative view.

Bomani Jones had a very deep response to all this on the Dan Lebetard radio show today. I hope to find a link.

I know I'm like everyone else and wondering what the kandi man's opinion of this is. And don't forget about eric piatkowski. Are there any former Clippers left who haven't been interviewed about this?

If this is it, the NBA has failed and we're in deep ****. Sterling won't sell unless he's forced to. It's all well and good to say "we hope you sell the team" but DTS is too stubborn and delusional to listen. Goodbye Doc, goodbye players, goodbye relevance.

If this franchise is thrown to the wolves in order to protect a bunch of other scummy old white billionaires with skeletons in their closets, I might be done with the NBA entirely instead of searching for a new team. It's just not fair to the fans.

It's very sad but most likely true... The NBA is NOT going to force DTS out... And DTS is NOT selling the team either. Like I said hundreds of posts ago, DTS will burn this franchise down to the ground with him before the day comes and he sells. He wins and us fans lose, bottom line folks. It was fun while it lasted. Again I'm very sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But someone has to be honest...

I feel you. The announcement will fall short what we envisioned. Many years of crap begin and I can't see myself as a fan anymore because DTS is still an owner. Being faithful to your team is one thing, but support an owner that against your morale is a whole new level.

Can't wait until the Lakers get to sign all our players off our roster, that will be next. Silver is just as big a crook as Stern in my eyes. Thanks for destroying our franchise, NBA. Pathetic!

I can't believe I've wasted so much time and energy on such a pointless franchise and a rigged league.

I'm at the point where if the players play this game, it shows that they don't care about the fans and are just waiting until they can join the Lakers/Mavs/Rockets.

Let's just wait until tomorrow to hear his official announcement. Then we can gloom and doom later on. We are still in the playoff so let's enjoy it!

Don't you think you might, just might, be panicking a wee bit prematurely? I'm not sure exactly what you expect to happen tomorrow but you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment if you think the league will just take the team away immediately. There's this thing called "due process" which is kind of important when dealing with potentially billion dollar transactions. What that reporter speculated-- and that's all it is, speculation-- is actually pretty harsh; it would be the harshest punishment yet levied against an NBA owner and pretty unprecedented since the alleged "crime" was actually something that may not even be admissible in a lawsuit (and believe me, this will incur multiple lawsuits). I think the idea is that you suspend the guy "indefinitely" (aka forever) while the pressure builds up from sponsor pullbacks, media outrage, and so forth and eventually come to a settlement. But, barring a weird change of heart, there's no way this happens before the end of the season.

I think the best we can hope for is that he Sterling stays away from the team (pretty much inevitable, fortunately), the players focus on what they are paid to do, the fans support them, and we win some series. Then this gets resolved in the offseason.

If you don't want the players to even play the game, why do you even care about being a fan? Our only role as fans is to support the players doing their jobs, which is to play the game. They don't really give two shits about us, you know.

JQuick32

They need to hit pussified owners like Mark Cuban in the wallet where it hurts in order to put an end to their "slippery slope" excuses. IMO, it's the only way Sterling is out, because he won't sell on his own and too many owners are clearly scared of their own behavior getting exposed to force him out right now.

LuckTheFakers

But Cuban-- who is a very smart guy-- is totally correct in his response. He's just saying you can't start thought policing the league, using stuff said in the privacy of their homes against people. The "slippery slope" is just how social media plays into this, whether something like this is private or effectively public once it is leaked (I would argue for the former since it's basically blackmail). Now the cat is out of the bag and there is a lot of pressure for Sterling to self-resign; to force him out is indeed a tricky issue. It's not like he held a press conference and denounced black people, or he killed one of his players or something. The crime is really the media taking something small and turning it into something huge.

I'm a few months from taking the Bar exam, and I can assure you, 1 million in fines + indefinite suspension is the maximum that Adam Silver can do.

Taking a man's property is something only a court of law can do, and until becoming a racist is illegal, this will never go before a judge.

Do I think the punishment is adequate? lol NO. An Adequate punishment is the guillotine.

Adam Silver is neither the police or the courts. He is only a NBA Commissioner and having read the FULL NBA By-Laws, I assure you that this is the 100% unequivocal maximum punishment the NBA can possibly deal.

What does a suspension mean? He essentially can't draw a profit from the team until further notice. Sterling is a businessman and when something is no longer profitable, he will sell high (because he bought low) and finally cash out.

Then I assume that once you quit watching the NBA you'll devote all that spare time to having Rich DeVos removed as owner of the Magic... what with his public stance against equal rights for gay people.

I think having a constant negative attitude has to be a defense mechanism, so that if the worst does happen, you're ready. On the flip side, you're basically miserable 100% of the time. My attitude is that we, as fans, have spent a long time watching some horrible basketball and the payoff is all in games like tomorrow, which may determine if we go as far as we ever have (the 2nd round lol). So we should be excited for the opportunity and positive for a change.
