Unfortunately, I think we will belong to the NBA for some time to come.

The owners will vote Sterling out - probably unanimously - then he will immediately sue the NBA board of governors (ie: the other owners) and preliminary court hearings will put a halt on any sale until the matter is resolved.

Legal limbo until Sterling kicks the bucket.

Pretty sure he can't do that given the powers of the board of governors.

He will try and find a way to fight it. I am sure his laywer's are working on it as I type.

He is not allowed to sue other owners as an owner. When the league takes the franchise into receivership, he's no longer an owner and the Clippers become a property of disputed ownership. Only a court can resolve that.

One can only hope that he backs down.

Best thing that could have happened to the franchise. No more impediments to success. Onto the Championship

Coming into this season, I thought the best we could have hoped for was a championship. But this... this is bigger than a championship. I look forward to us competing hard for the rest of the playoffs, and win or lose, I'll be happy to know that this Clippers organization has finally started to move past the one man that has held us down all along. It really has been the greatest thing to have happened to the franchise!

It's crazy that we wouldn't have been able to do this without the current players, coaches, and staff that we had in place. We had to transform into a successful organization, in spite of Sterling, to get the attention needed to oust him.

He'll get laughed out of court. He agreed to the possibility of this punishment when he became an NBA owner.

The fact that our TV deal is expiring soon increases the value of the team. We have an elite team right now and it's built to last for a while. Clips wouldn't get Laker deal but it could be in the ballpark.

Sacramento was sold for 550mil and that is one of the lowest valued teams in the league. If they're worth 550mil, a bargain according to MCuban, the Clips are worth 1Billion no question about it. Value of the team only decreases if Doc resigns and our stars demand trades, which could still happen, but this basically means the value of the Clips is intact as long as he acts swiftly to sell.

It's in everyone's (the league, the owners, the players, not the fans necessarily) best interest for the franchise to sell for high dollar. Next teams that sell will point to most recent sales, regardless of extenuating circumstances, as partial basis of establishing value. It's just like checking the nearby comps when buying a house. Also, if the league votes to force a sale, even if Donald agrees, he'll still fight in court regarding fair value. If they take over the team and sell to Geffen for 500mil but it can be proven based on Sac's sale price and the Clips compared value, that the team is worth 1Billion, Sterling will be able to sue and probably win a judgement against the NBA to cover his lost profit.

We'll know tonight whether this is enough to possibly get the players heads back into this series and save our PO run but we're not out of the woods as far as keeping our coach and current players and whether we can sign anybody in the offseason. Even if it all goes perfectly smooth, selling a Billion dollar organization doesn't happen overnight and if there is uncertainty during the offseason, things could fall apart for the Clips even with Sterling technically out of the picture.

Laker fans are always going to reach for excuses to feel superior to us. As long as we keep whooping their ass on the court and in free agency, it doesn't matter and makes them sound bitter.

Commissioner Adam Silver writes a letter to us, the fans:

http://www.nba.com/official/statement-a ... _twitter_L

Dear Fans,

This afternoon I announced that, following the completion of a thorough investigation into an audio recording obtained by TMZ, I banned Donald Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers or the NBA, effective immediately. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, be present at any Clippers office or facility, or participate in any business or player personnel decisions involving the team. I also fined Mr. Sterling $2.5 million, the maximum amount allowed under the NBA Constitution. These funds will be donated to charitable organizations dedicated to anti-discrimination and tolerance efforts that will be jointly selected by the NBA and its Players Association.

The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and hurtful. I am extremely proud of this great league's diverse, respectful and inclusive culture, and we will not allow one individual's intolerant views to define us. Let me be clear: Mr. Sterling's views have no place in the NBA.

This has been a painful episode for all members of the NBA family. I very much appreciate your understanding during this process. I also want to express my thanks and admiration to Coach Doc Rivers, Chris Paul, and the entire Clippers organization for their professionalism throughout this matter, and to Chris and Mayor Kevin Johnson for their leadership and partnership on behalf of the Players Association.

And now I am eager to turn the spotlight back where it belongs: on the game we all love and on these thrilling playoffs, which have been some of the most exciting basketball I've seen in my 22 years with the league. I hope you enjoy the rest of the playoffs and The Finals.

Sincerely,

Adam Silver

If the clippers get bought by Magic we will have even more leverage over the Lakers. "Even ex superstars that represent the Lakers would rather be Clippers now"

I have to agree with Silver and the rest of the nba crew, this is the best playoffs in decades, for the West at least, East is a different story. Hope our Clippers come out on fire and claim the series as OUR own, #WeAreOne

18 year season ticket holder

after all these years, after all the losing, we finally get a team to take us to the promise land (THIS YEAR) and just like that its all over

what a punch to the gut

i unfortunately know Donald pretty well, and i can tell you for a fact he won't give up the team. he's 1 of the most stubborn people you will ever meet. his mindset now is " Bann me- leave me- i don't care that is my team.

Donald loves the clippers more than his own children. (and that is a fact)

3 things from this point

  1. he'll try to lay low, won't say a word for years and donate a brick load of money to any african american cause to eventually lift the lifetime bann. in 2-3 years

  2. the clipper organization will continually tell the players and coaches that the sterling siblings/presidents are in charge. that donald doesn't have any say(when we all know he does)

  3. owners won't dare a force sell, knowing what could happen to them if they do such a thing

Now a couple of factual points in what will happen to this team

  1. Tonights game is HUGE!!!! its the last stand for these guys. last time(playoffs) these guys would play together.

  2. DOC is leaving, there already reports of him not returning, expect cp3, blake. dj to demand trades after that

  3. Back to the 90s clippers it is, after the departure of everyone, we will stock up with rookies and sell them away. and expect some Danny ferry situation.

Lets hope we can ride this post season and win a championship without donald holding the larry obrien trophy. but after that expect the worse

g-d forbid we lose to the worriers, expect this departure to happen the next day.

Banned for life? Now it's time for Sterling to sell the Clippers while it has value, once Blake and CP3 is gone this will reduce the value and he will lost a lot of dollars, I just hope we will still have Clippers in different owner.

So, where do we go from now?

I read somewhere that Sterling is not looking to sell the team and will get help from his lawyers, is it true?

Even if Donald doesn't want to sell the team, ultimately it's not his choice, if Adam Silver and the NBA gets a majority of its owners to vote against him owning a team (which they definitely will) he will be FORCED out! Stay positive ClipperNation, its been a tough week but in the end it will all pay off.

i like marc cuban and he does make plenty sense (i do agree that what is said in private is no one's business but that person's). on the other hand, i agree with silver's response that "what is private is now public" and while his ban on DTS may have opened up a can of worms for future incidents, i admire he had the balls to do what he did.

in any case, i think cuban's business affiliations could potentially take a hit from his stance of refusing to join the vote.

With the ban, and the eventual vote that will undoubtably go through, the league will be in charge of the team until a new owner is found. The better the Clips do the more valuable the team will be. What if.....The clippers all of a sudden start getting all the favorable calls and become the league sweet hearts and were ushered to a championship.........it might just happen.

I'm afraid you're right. The ban today is just a bandaid and it was expected. If he doesn't willingly sell team, which would be a surprise, this drags on for months/years. In the interim, at best we're run by the league, and that would mean a very conservative fiscal policy, minimal new signings, allowing guys to walk instead of resigning, and bowing to trade demands. (We obviously know as well as anyone what league ownership can do to a franchise. We have Chris Paul and New Orleans has Al-Farouq Aminu) Doc can have any job he wants, if it's going to get messy and it probably will, he's gone and all our stars would follow shortly.

Anyway, if 'alostclip' is really a long-time Clippers fan and the dark ages have led him to have such a depressing outlook on life, I can attempt to reassure him by saying there is now way in hell that will happen, and that is simply because CP3 and Blake are in a very good situation here. They have effectively been absolved of the "guilt by association" pressure they were undoubtedly feeling from the media (and maybe their families) and there is absolutely no reason why they would continue to feel outrage, if they ever did.

I do agree with point #1 in that this is a huge game because losing this may well cost us the series. Winning certainly gives us the series cuz ain't no way in hell we're losing game 7 at home if it comes to that (although I think we'd close out in 6).

Please re read Jabaar's article. This is self righteous finger wagging. People had a quantum more reason for moral outrage years ago and nothing happened and to be banned for life for this incident is awful. He's just doing what we allowed him to do before. I am not morally outraged. Why should he be punished for being set up? He shouldn't. $10 million, a public apology is fair. He didn't hurt anybody. Cuban is right.

Having said this, this is the greatest thing that has happened to this team f*ck morals. We removed a cancer. We got lucky that he stepped in his own s*it. I would do anything to get rid of him. We are playing by the same rules that DTS plays by. Down and Dirty take no prisoners and we won.

Steven Colbert interviewed a multi billionare a couple of days ago. He asked why do billionaires still practice cut throat business when they have more money that is possible to spend. His answer was "competition". They love the fight and they love DESTROYING people for sport. DTS is one of those. He may choose to fight if there is an attempt to force him to sell or he may be too old and tired. He may apologize ask us to spin things to give him a fig leaf and quit. Who knows.

We got what we want. He's out of the picture. Stop being pissed and realize that we won the first battle in what may be a war.
