It seems like Sterling kind of held most Clippers employees in a "Stockholm syndrome" kind of way.
It also seems that despite all of Sterling's awfulness, the biggest reason he was able to survive all these years was because he could really turn up his sociable side when it counted
Finally, the Clippers's second choice if Doc Rivers wasn't made coach would've been Lionel Hollins. A pretty good choice, actually.

This was a great read. Bill Simmons is an excellent writer. Not a fan of most of his commentaries on NBA TV, but his writing is top notch. Thank you for posting, OP!

Well if the reports are true, we may be looking for a new coach anyway so can we get our second choice? Then all we will have to replace is a 2 PGs, PF, C, 2 SGs and I guess the rest too. Ryan will be our number one guy.

The craziest part of this article was the fact that it mentions how Sterling told V. to record their conversations so he could remember what he said. He stated that there are hours of tape recordings still out there. What a fool.
