I feel sorry for the guy. He has certain viewpoints that are outdated and he doesn't understand why what he said was wrong. He was backstabbed by someone who was supposed to be his confidante and now he is extremely paranoid. Not to mention he doesn't seem to have much time to live. Not a good way to go out.

I wish the best for him even though I don't like him.

Well the NY Post does print a lot of BS,let us search further.

But prostrate cancer, for you young guys, is pretty common when you get in your 80s but it is such a slow growing cancer that if got it 2-3 years ago they would probably just let it go rather then treat it, due to his age and the fact something else would probably get him first.

Here is a thing about DTS. As much I despise him as a person, I do not want any harm for this guy. He did not kill, r***, or any unimaginable acts. The worst thing he ever done is discriminating someone which is lot better than criminals ever done. He never cause any one with harm. In all fairness, I wish he recover well and live a good life. Get well Donald!

Well put. We should keep things in perspective. He did not kill anybody; he is not a terrorist; he is not a child molester. He is a person with outdated, racist views -- and there are many like him in America, just that they have a lower profile. And though much of his life has been framed in reprehensible, hateful acts, he did give -- regardless of motive -- to a lot of charities, which is more than many rich pigs without racist views do.

I think in his case, the punishment fit the crime. But I do not wish cancer on just about anybody.

What a "bad person" is is relative to your own morals. He's a fellow human being who is suffering. That's all that matters. I wish him a healthy happy and long life

I echo the same sentiments shared by most of you- best wishes to Donald Sterling for full recovery. And I would not doubt that most of the Clipper players & personnel are thinking the same.

is it just me or is wishing a privately racist man dies from cancer, a man that you only know as a basketball owner, just as bad if not WORSE than what he did in the first place?

besides IMO, i don't think he's "racist" but just a product of his upbringing and culture. what kind of racist man buys a basketball team in a majority black league? what kind of man freely donates money to charities that contribute to the welfare of minorities?even if he donated that money as a front, if he were genuniely "i hate you" racist, he never wouldve taken part in those actions.

ease up on the man and don't get gobbled up in the mob mentality that the media created.

no, I'm not saying they guy's free from blame. but he's a freaking human being.

get well soon, donald.

My overriding thought is just what a terrible person his mistress is. You've got to believe she was aware of this.

Most rational people would find themselves much more centered and humble when dealing with a life threatening illness. DTS has done some disgraceful things in his life, at least those that are 'known'.....one can only hope he turns at some point and finds a center ground.....

I won't come right out and say he deserves to die a terrible death, but he's far from a 'good a decent person', and this might be a bit of karma coming back.

Wow, what awful news for Sterling and his family. As despicable a man Sterling is, he ought to just be given some well wishes here.

Its not tho. I, along with tons of users on here and clipper fans everywhere, have been hoping he would drop dead for years!! This stupid phone scandal has noting to do with it, I personally didn't even think this was that bad. More funny than anything that he doesn't care if his girl friend screws Magic but doesn't want her taking pictures with him. I think its ridiculous that people are all sympathetic to him now that he reportedly has cancer. He's old. Old people die, I hope DTS does soon.

And I have some bad news for you Freakeyy, he won't get better. He's too old for them to do much and the cancer is too slow moving. He's going to die, hopefully without the Clippers. No need to be PC about it.

Repped High Quality Post

My prayers are with DTS and his family and when I say prayers, I truly mean it as a lot of people just say "prayer" without really thinking of what it means and what not.

I would hope that someone could talk to DTS in a spiritual manner. Sometimes God puts you through tough and trying times because he's sending a message. He needs to realize that he's wonged a lot of people and now is a good time to make up for those wrongs. An example that comes to mind is when he didn't pay for Kim Hughes' prostate cancer. His excuse was that if he does it for one person, he'd have to do it for everyone else. My question is if that's such a concern, why not help Hughes privately as opposed to letting the entire public know which would then lead to DTS' concerns regarding everyone else asking for his help.

When people complain about DTS and his views, I think about how small his small minded racist views are in comparison to the other things that he's done such as his renting policies which inhibit people from finding a place to live based on their skin color or worse, endangering Hughes' well being due to cheapness and concern about overkill.

It's never too late to do good. Sell the team for a billion and then turn around and put that money to good use. Save some lives, build a homeless shelter, continue to give to charity and do everything you can in the time you have left on this earth so that people can remember you for the good things and not the bad. It is possible.

Those on here glad that he has cancer or hoping he will drop dead are seriously disgusting individuals. You make me ashamed to be a Clippers fan and ashamed to be a human being. People seriously need to get perspective. How many of your friends and relatives would you have to hope "dropped dead" if all of their actions and thoughts were in the open and accounted for? Sterling was a bad man, but didn't murder or r*** anyone. Those acting morally superior to Sterling but then hoping for his death are, in my opinion, more morally repugnant than Sterling himself. Way to be complete hypocrites.

Do yourselves a favor and get a little perspective in your lives.

I don't wish cancer or death on him, but the idea that he didn't harm anyone and was only "privately racist" is complete revisionist history that doesn't stand up to the facts. Look up his housing policies and then try to tell me with a straight face that he never did anyone harm.

Good point, easily overlooked.

And a second rep (although it cannot be given) to trueblood for the "DTS Post of the Year."

I'm sorry that you're not as comfortable with your hate as some of us. Have you ever known anyone with prostate cancer? If so you'd realize that it's not a painful or challenging cancer to have. You can have it for yeaaaaars and never have it affect your life and live just fine. Maybe you don't pee as well as you used to. You judging other people and calling them "disgusting" for their feelings is as f***ed up as anything else talked about on here.

And I think everyone (that I know of) on this board is morally superior to DTS bc we aren't f***ing racists who treat other people like trash. His quotes have nothing to do with it. It's his actions that are despicable. Those of us that have followed the team for long periods of time have always known this and always had a disdain for him. There's been jokes about people wanting him to die so the team could be good forever. And now that he has a cancer people all of a sudden feel bad for the guy and hope he gets better? F*** that. He's 80. Thats old, old people die. Most members on this board probably won't live to be as old as him.

So you should get yourself a little perspective and the next time you feel like coming on a message board to call other users disgusting for their beliefs, don't. You should be ashamed of yourself for judging other members on this board.

Yeah seriously. People want to show him some sympathy just cause he has cancer? After all the things this guy has done? I mean it sucks and all that he has cancer but if you expect me to cry a river for him forget about it. This guy literally denied people the right to live just because of the color of their skin. I'm sorry, but I can't say friendly to people like that.
