"Three seasons Paul has been on the Clippers, three seasons he has been banged up in the playoffs. A strained groin that carried over from the end of the regular season in 2012 followed by a strained hip flexor in the first round against Memphis, a bruised thumb in 2013 against the same Grizzlies, and now the strained hamstring and a bruised right thumb. He has persevered enough to play big minutes each time. He just hasn't been able to be his best.

This time, the right leg has been a factor much of the way, from clearly being bothered in Game 1 to the Clippers openly appreciating the extra recuperation in the schedule break of two days off before Games 3 and 4, to Paul laboring along in Game 6. The hamstring was often wrapped when he was out. The attention was always on when he was in."

But, unlike some wussy players, CP3 rubs some dirt on it and goes back into the game. He was obviously hurting yesterday, but he will take a few Aleve and be out of the gates tomorrow,I have faith in CP3. LIke I said in the gameday thread for tomorrow, just

one less stupid error and we would have one,or two more freethrows, one less stupid thing

He'll come through for us. Hopefully Blake too.

Excuses. It's playoff time, everybody's tired and banged up after a long regular season, but most superstars aren't mentally weak enough to let it turn them into a scrub. Either that or CP3's just way too brittle to be worth the $107 million we're paying him.

agree. he is unfortunately injury prone, but have to respect his effort. he's trying his best to slow down curry which in itself is hard for anyone to do.

I think someone writing an article has nothing to do with a player and excuses, you don't hear CP3 whining, just writers and fans.

I think the media coddles him, especially compared to guys like LeBron (pre-rings), Dwight and Melo who have all done more in the playoffs than CP3.

I didn't hear CP3 complain or make an excuse ever. He said he was grateful for having the extra day off, heck I was grateful for having the extra day off! I Have felt like a junky with how much basketball I've been watching every day, it was nice to get a little break.

I could be wrong but I don't think CP complained either of the last two years or made excuses up as to why they lost. He just says that the other team was better that day. We happen to have one of the smallest guys in the nba and he plays hard and gets banged up, Id rather that than someone who just played offense and worried about his own numbers.

Living in Portland and having the blazers be my second team, literally every night is a game. And the thunder series has been so good that i don't want to miss those games. same with the spurs. i can't wait till round 2...or till the finals

Would it hurt CP's game to bulk up a bit. Jordan's summer work out was well documented on the bad boys documentary.

CP is pretty bulked up as it is.

Yeah,he is pretty big for his size, any more muscle would probably hamper his speed. Next time you're at Staples take a good close-up look at him.

Do you mean bulk down lol? Don't see how making a big PG bigger will help them get less injuries.

LeBron - Eastern Conference

Dwight - Only success in Eastern Conference

Melo - Flash in the pan run with Nuggets

Exactly, Mike Conley is hurt also..hamstring issue I believe, so we need to be able to overcome these injuries. What bugs me most about this is that we had a perfectly good opportunity to close this series out on Thursday and get healthy, but we squandered that and will most likely be at a disadvantage against the winner of Memphis vs. Oklahoma City matchup. Also, we hold a key advanatge in the fact that we have one of the best backup PG's, so come game time this should not be an excuse

CP3 - Never been past the second round

He'd be a regular in the Eastern Conference Finals, don't delude yourself.

Look at the Heat's road this year and compare it to the Clippers' potential road.

Bobcats - Brooklyn/Toronto - Washington

Warriors - OKC - San Antonio

I'm not deluding myself, I'm living in reality. CP3 has never been past the second round of the playoffs while everyone he's compared to has.

Everyone he's compared to? You mean that list of Small Forwards?

Among all players, CP3 is supposedly up there with LBJ and Durant in the top 3 and ahead of guys like Melo and Dwight. In reality, all of those players except CP3 have done **** in the playoffs.

Paul isn't going to grow 8 inches or gain 50 extra pounds any time soon, yet you want him to slash to the basket and dunk on centers like LeBron and Durant in the waning moments of games.

Any PG's you'd like to compare him to? Let the Tony Parker debate begin!

I think it's a natural result from his playing style, especially on defense. He gives 100% running through screens, pics, working for deflections and steels. He's an extremely aggressive player, his body just can't keep up, especially after a long season.

I'd take a 70% CP any day over some of the lethargic pgs we've had in the past.

Only it hasn't been a long season for CP3. That's worrisome.

If the other 28 GMs were polled right now (not counting Portland or clippers), would the majority want Lillard or Paul

Will Lillard be a hall of famer? Pretty bold guess based on the sample size. Let's see how he does next year with high expectations Wink

They get paid to evaluate talent. So I'm pretty sure all 28 would pick Paul.

They take Lillard... but only based on his contract. Same way they'd have taken Rookie Blake over $20mil+ Dirk... upside and $. You can get another max player with the difference in salary.

Lillard is still on his rookie contract for a few more years so you can get Lillard and a max contract player.

If not for contracts I would take Paul handily. Paul is a way better facilitator and an elite defender while Lillard is a so-so facilitator and can't guard a garbage can. Great shooter though and very clutch though but Paul has outplayed him in every game. Badly even.

Also, let's not forget that even though it's only Lillard's 2nd season, he's almost 24 years old.

I think Lillard still has room to grow but yea Paul peaked when he was 22/23 lol.
