I want to discuss how we match-up against the Thunder and where we show great strength in a match-up and great weakness.

I'm very confident, Paul will make it extremely hard for Westbrook to go off. I feel like he would contain him well enough to make him a neutralized factor in the series. Where I think we will show great weakness is on our perimeter defense on Durant... Only thing I'm truly concerned about. I like our chances against Perkins/Adams and Ibaka/Collison. DJ will make life tough for both Adams and Perkins and I think Griffin will eat Collison alive. Only match-up I think will give Griffin somewhat of a fit would be Ibaka. I would just hope Griffin can face-up Ibaka and beat him off the dribble and continue to attack him and put him in foul trouble.

I may be mistaken, but I think too much is made out of the 1 on 1 match ups. I think efficient offensive execution will be the key for us in this series. That is, running plays, forcing turnovers and getting out in transition. If we're able to do that, I feel that we'll put ourselves at a greater advantage because we'll be able to spread out our offensive production and make it so they can't just clamp down on our stars. Teamwork will make the dream work in this series.

The Thunder have two incredible superstars who score around half of the teams points each game. That can be a blessing and a curse because if one or both of those players are having an off night, there isn't really anybody who can consistently step in and pick up the scoring. I think Reggie Jackson will be their X-factor against us. He's an extremely talented backup point guard with good scoring ability. He can be a spark plug with the ability to catch our 2nd unit off guard in crucial moments. It will be an interesting match up between him and Darren Collison.

Blake will have an interesting time dealing with Serge Ibaka. He'll need to be extremely patient, and do a good job of staying in control offensively. He won't get away with some of the same bully tactics he got away with against Draymond Green and David Lee. Ibaka is too strong, long and athletic for that. Blake will have to continue to discover new ways to earn his points as his match up with Ibaka will be a true test of his skill.

I don't expect Chris Paul to have a particularly great series offensively, but you can never count him out regardless of injury. He's too good, and he's too smart to not find a way to be effective. He might not be able to stop Russel Westbrook, but Chris is no slouch on defense. I expect him to force a lot of turnovers from Westbrook, even if he doesn't stop him from scoring 25ppg.

Durant is a nightmare, but I love having Danny Granger to back up Matt Barnes when defending him. Barnes will have an extremely difficult time dealing with Durant but Granger might be a little more effective if he can stay healthy. The problem is that neither of these two will really make Durant work on the other end Unless Danny miraculously reverts back to his All-Star days.

My biggest fear is how we match up against the refs. We're nobodies favorites, and Durant and Westbrook get phantom calls from refs when playing more favored teams than us. We have to keep our cool and not let them get into our heads otherwise we'll throw the series away ourselves.

Westbrook is a different animal than Curry. He is way stronger and more explosive, he'll be harder to contain 1 on 1, but like Keaton says Chris will still do a decent job and make plays on D. Chris is a high IQ guy and hopefully he can heal fast be more effective this series versus the last. He'll still find ways to make plays because he has a top 5 bball iq.

I think the new Blake is going to give any defender fits, he'll get his. After his 4th q last night, I think his confidence continues to grow.

Like y'all said, trying to stop Durant will be key.

Westbrook is such a bull I think Barnes and Granger combo may get a look at somepoint.

Blake has had some trouble against Ibaka. He can't lose his confidence, and continue to keep attacking. Chris needs to be in attack mode the whole game. Westbrook is an overrated defender who relies more on his athleticism than IQ. But we don't have Durant stopper like Memphis, so he's going to get his.

KD and Westbrook take ALL the shots so I think our defense is catered towards those type of ball dominant wings. Curry for all his shooting caused trouble because he was very unselfish and the Warriors spread the ball around to the open man. Does anyone believe that the Thunder are gonna do that? Kevin and Russell are taking over 20 shots every game each.

Jamal has ran wild against the Thunder this year .....Ultimately it will come down to punishing the Thunder whenever we see Caron,Fisher,or Thabo on the floor.

We really need to get back on defense and take care of the ball and OKC will give us opportunities simply because of the style in which the yplay

Curry is much scarier than WB. Leave him open from 3 for even a second and he will score 3 points. Westbrook does so much dumb **** that will help bail us out.

But yea the problem is containing WB and Durant at the same time.

It's amazing that we dropped caron, and he is a vital piece to thunder now.

If only that **** Sterling didn't overrule the Caron for Ariza trade. Ariza>>>>>>our current SFs and Butler wouldn't be playing for the Thunder.

Good defender and shooting over 40% from 3. He has been even better in the postseason too.

Good matchup for Durant is Granger, hope he shows how good he is in defending KD.

Our main problem in this series is we don't have the ideal lockdown guy to guard Durant. I think Granger will last about 5 minutes against him, probably about a foul a minute. Barnes is gonna have to play a lot and we'll have to double team most of the time. I hope Doc throws Duds out there for some minutes against KD in first couple games and see how he does. It would be nice if we could get somebody to step up at that SF spot.

People keep saying Westbrook is going to give CP3 fits on defense. I disagree, the game plan switches, now Chris will be going under screens and he won't have to be running around them as much when Westbrook is off the ball.

Chris needs to let Westbrook think he's Steph Curry. If Westbrook gets 30 points, but he shoots it 30 times we are looking good.

Also, if Westbrook goes to the hole we have DJ to meet him there.

Considering we wouldn't have JJ now in that case, I don't mind that that trade didn't go through. Barnes is not far off from Ariza.

Exactly right. Give Westbrook the jumpshot all night and hope he takes a shitload of them. The more Westbrook shoots, the less Durant shoots and that's how you beat them.

One player we need to be worried about: Reggie Jackson.

I love this approach haha. Definitely how you would want to make OKC beat you.

And guys I'm really not worried about Butler, he doesn't seem as consistent from the 3 ball. If we survived the amount of 3 balls from game 7, we can even handle Butler going 2/5 for 3's.

Yep, the dude is legit. I think Colison can keep him in check though.

I feel like Durant fears the Clippers more than any other team... like we're in his head.

Conversely, I feel the exact opposite way about Westbrook.

If Collison plays as well as Jackson, that is a huge plus for us because we also have Crawford to light it up off the bench.

Jamal should be licking his chops when he checks in. He will have Reggie Jackson or Derek Fisher on him. They can't guard him

Agreed. Honestly I am more concerned about KD! Honestly I want Westbrook taking all the shots as long as Durant isn't! That Is what we want! As long as they are not going off for....

Not sure we have the personnel to do this to the thunder big two. If players are still willing to come here, we need a wing defender.

Great day! Basking in victory, day off and the most important thing I have to do is scratch my balls.

OKC scares me. I had hoped we could throw Granger at Durant but he hasn't shown up. Ibaka gives BG a run for his money, Sefalosha has given us problems and Thabet's height may cause Baby problems. Paul and Collison will have a problem with Westbrook. Can we rent Bledsoe? Durant is a freak of nature and except for the ghost of Wilt Chamberlain nobody can guard him and the Refs will be the sixth man.

We have to get bench production. If Granger shows up I'm worried not scared. Clippers in 6

Something has to be done about the refs. We had so many OBVIOUSLY missed calls. The foul on Barnes arguable cost us a game as did one on CP in Dallas and the one against GSW. Blake got tackled, Steph pushed off and DJ got a foul and Jamal was hit so hard in the head he fell down.

We need the coaches to have the right to ask for one replay/ quarter or at least one/ half. When the refs know that they're being watched they'll clean up their act. With good calls I'm mildly anxious.

Easier said than done. He's strong and agile. It's going to be hard for our #1 to do. Who's going to match up with Thabeet?

Mismatch!?, don't know where you "think" the mismatch is. It's pretty even so far, especially since Paul's been a Clipper.

Durant will be our main problem, along with rebounding.

Keys to the game:

-keep Perkins out of foul trouble, the longer he's in, the better

-give Westbrook tons of space from the outside and crowd the paint, he never passes up open looks

I think Granger is gonna get a lot of burn in this series from the get-go

I think Doc will alternate Barnes and Granger to KD. This game is more on one on one, Blake againts Ibaka and DJ vs Perkins, Dj should use his size and speed againts Perkins. Minimize KD's touch to the ball and force WB to TO, Tony Allen was able to contain KD '

Granger has stunk it up. More fouls that points and even not many buckets in shoot around. I hope we don't have Grant Hill. On second thought Hill would give Durant problems.

Start granger on KD and hope his offense game kicks in, go inside as much as possible, if there is a weak link its perk, he's kind of like baby, slow no hops but eats up space, take advantage of DJs length and speed on him.

OKC is long in every position, our wings/guards will have to work real hard to score in this series

I agree... I feel like Blake was playing underpar in Game 6 and in the beginning of Game 7 (he was great in the second half) so I feel like he will come out really strong against OKC. He got over some mental hick-ups and they will utilize what they did in Game 7 to get free with CP3, the high screen and roll at the 3 point line to give him a lot more freedom. It worked ALOT in Game 7 and will be used against OKC hopefully. I can see the Cliplers becoming that much more mentally tough going through that whole series with the Sterling BS going on and just taking Game 7 like champs. I have a lot of faith going into this series.

Whomever is guarding KD should wear a mask so that he can't breathe on KD. Because any time you even breathe on Durant, a foul is called.

The refs scare me, OKC doesn't.

Theres no way Coach Brooks should change his line-up and rotations after consecutive DNPs for SeFo. Last game SeFo or Westbrook was on Chris. Fisher was on Jamal

I don't care if he starts or not, but I definitely want Granger to have more time on the floor. Not only is he new to the team, but he's barely getting any minutes. He hasn't really had a chance to get acclimated in any of the games. Look at our stars. Sometimes it takes them 2 or 3 quarters to really get their game going, yet some of us expect Granger to get his game going in 2 or 3 minutes.

Westbrook really killed the team last year, Paul missed one of those games, and he had one good game and 3 bad ones this year, but the good game was the most recent one. In 11-12 he didn't really do anything worth reporting about. Due to this, there's this idea that he somehow kills the Clippers, he doesn't, and there's no need to fear him.

Westbrook produces below his regular performance vs the Clippers with Chris Paul, his scoring efficiency is weak, turns it over more than usual, takes like 19 shots to score 21 points. Paul also is a bit below his average, but has actually produced superior to Westbrook over the past 3 seasons vs OKC everything considered, and he doesn't have his own Sefolosha to go guard Westbrook while he gets an easier matchup on defense. I actually see Westbrook as overall an easier matchup for Paul than Curry. Paul can go under screens, he doesn't have to be as vigilant in tracking him down because of the fear that he will fire at any time.

On the other end, Paul with get Westbrook, but also get a lot of Sefolosha, which of course like always will be annoying for him. His little man stature has to work much harder to get shots of against these long athletic SG defenders.

Great video with Bruce Bowen and decent write up although the two are not about the same thing.
