The Warriors primary and secondary defended played a whole lot better. Thompson pressured Paul to not give him space and angles, OKC let him see the floor and see the court, and he diced them up. Warriors secondary defenders were quick to get to Paul and Green was very mobile. OKC's secondary defenders were slower to the ball and stayed back a bit. I expect to see a change in that next game, and then I'd hope for the other guys, mainly Blake who will then facilitate to step up and make OKC pay as the defense should be stretched more if....

I don't know the stats, but I remember hearing something along the lines of MVP winners play out of character/timid the day they receive the trophy. Hopefully that's true.

It is like a "ring ceremony" game. It serves as a distraction from the actual game for the team getting the award.

Yup. A lot of championship teams get distracted on ring night. I'm hoping something similar happens tomorrow.

Don't know, but it seems to work for Miami who's been at the bottom of the rebounding rankings in RPG and near the top in FG% the last few years. Hmmm...

I had to DVR the game and I couldn't watch it until 1 in the morning. But WOW! What a game by CP3?! I can't believe people were talking about trading him a few days ago. Not only did he have 32 pts, but he had 10 assists with only 2 TOs. Best point guard in the world.

Yes it would be very cool...on the ratings. NBA would kill themselves , lol.

LAC vs Miami is what they are (and we) hoping for. Oh the drama.

I expect the OKC to try to score as much as they can in the first quarter, bother CP3 at all angles, and Ibaka to wrestle Blake, I'm not too concern about DJ and Perkins match up. but the first game tells all that they have problem in our game. As I said before I like Westbrook to play because he just want to score and score, and if they are down he is more aggressive and forgot that they re 5 in the his team. If he is frustrated he commit a lot of turn over.

Repped High Quality Post

I don't know if anybody has noticed, or if it's just me but is Scott Brooks THAT BAD of a coach? They have pretty much no offense just like we did when we had Del Negro, and their pick 'n roll coverage is TERRIBLE, he's had his core group for like 4 years, and they're still making really dumb mistakes on their coverages, but their offense is just HORRID to watch. Westbrook and Durant are pretty much carrying the entire team with NOBODY else helping, not the role players the coaches... Or is it just me?

Taking a moment from my Clippers bias, currently watching KD's MVP acceptance speech. He's really emotional, but he's giving all the credit to his teammates and showing how good of a guy he is. Happy for him.

Brooks is basically VDN except he doesn't have a great facilitating PG to cover up for his deficiencies.

I watched a clip of that on ESPN. Has to be one the most touching, and heartfelt speech I have ever heard. Got a lump on my throat when he said his mom is the real MVP. Great stuff.

Great breakdown on how CP3 decimated the Thunder. He flat out calls the Thunder non-contenders.

No one else is worried that the thunder are gonna rally behind Durant after that amazingly powerful speech? I am!!

Well, you worry about absolutely everything, so...

(Instead of worrying, let's just wait until tomorrow for the actual game to be played. Also, no about of "rallying" will be able to fix the huge strategic and tactical deficiencies currently in the Thunder game plan).

I'd be more worried if I were the Thunder. The Clippers have been rallying behind Doc's leadership throughout this entire Sterling controversy. The Thunder saw what that looked like last night as they got embarrassed in front of their own fans. The Clippers are playing for reasons bigger than basketball. I haven't seen the Durant speech and I'm sure it's a nice and all, but it doesn't get much more powerful than when Doc responded to the media about Sterling prior to game 5.

What amazes me is Durant is still able to win with those piss poor things that they call "sets". I want to see how we do when CP3 ain't hitting 8 3s a night and if we win, then we win the series just like when Miami had a game plan and it worked, OKC was never able to make the proper adjustments... This 1st game just gave me new found confidence...

I've only seen the Mom bit of the speech, and yes this might galvanise the team. Their morale could well have taken a hit after game 1 and this could be a big pick-me-up, but it could also be a distraction.

This is wouldn't solve their coaching and play calling problems, but if I were the Thunder I would trade Westbrook for Rajon Rondo. I know there would probably have to be other players involved, but Rondo would be a much better complementary player to KD. Westbrook still runs around and chucks up shots like he's the MVP. You wouldn't have to worry about Rondo taking shots away from Durant since he would actually prefer to just rack up assists. Not mention Rondo is a nice defensive player. I know nothing about being a GM, but it just seems logical to trade Westbrook for a pass first PG who would make Durant even better.

With that said, I hope they keep Westbrook. He's going to be the thing that keeps them winning a title. Better for us.

Mark Jackass blathered out speeches too, we still beat the Warriors.

The Thunder can rally until the cows come home, but until they can stop getting torched by our ball movement and start running some semblance of an offense, it doesn't matter.

I'm sure they will come out and a win a couple games. People are acting like were gonna sweep em now bc we torched em one game. This won't be over in under 6 games

What's with all the blow out wins? We win a blowout, Heat just dominate, and now the Spurs are on cruise control...

Rondo can't score for crap. If they trade for Rondo the Thunder will have one offensive option. They will be noticeably worse offensively and not much better defensively.

I'm not worried about the effects of the speech. I'm more worried about the way the Thunder will want to come back after this loss. They are going to be motivated for payback

That means we rally around OKC's rally It means we have to match their heart. We can beat these guys. C'mon Granger give Durant some.

Well put.. I mostly feel the same way. I personally think LA needs at least one shutdown type of defensive player. Like how memphis has Allen, i think lac needs a guy like that to complement the offensive scoring barrage. Because there will be times when the shots aren't falling, but you need to be able to still have good D to keep you in the game. Teams like the spurs who maximize spacing really expose teams like OKC and LAC on the defensive side. Can't wait to see how this series turns out. As an OU alum, I am a huge Griffin fan, but he's the enemy right now.
