If it was Jared Dudley missing all those shots, we would be killing him. Just sayin...

I've always loved Granger and his defense > Dudley, all day, any day. But WHEN will he stop taking the outside shot and start DRIVING to the hoop. He can't hit anything. This is SIX games in a row now, he's been BRICKING everything. He can't hit water if he fell out of a boat. And ALMOST doesn't count for anything. There are no points for hitting the rim on every shot. No Stuffed Animal. No Carnival Prize.

If Granger would start faking the outside shot and start DRIVING to the hoop like he should and make contact, then he would be of use on offense. Right now, we are all just waiting... waiting... waiting... every game... when is he going to make a shot???

You maybe waiting for Godot. This the "new" Granger and not the "old" Granger. He is what he is now unfortunately.

I'm willing to defend grainger as he has shown flashes of brilliance at times.........ahhhh consistency is what were really complaining about here isn't it?

I think he is a capable defender and also a capable shooter, lets face it, he's been thrown into the Lions den that is the playoffs. I'm willing to go out on a large limb and say Grainger will be the difference in one the OKC games or in fact will hit a game winning shot. I know the latter has a very, very slim chance of occurring as the likelihood of him getting that chance is pretty small. However, I'm sticking behind him until till proven otherwise (sounds like what I did with duds & I was proven otherwise)

We cannot expect much when his minutes are so inconsistent. He never earned the minutes (partly due to injuries) so he never knows when he is going to be called upon.

Last series, he did not really get any burn time. This 2nd round has substantially slowed down in pace than GSW. Sure, he's not who he was years ago, but I think we'd utilize him properly on defense.

I have seen way worse then him on defense.... last night wasn't bad, ,but bricking up all those shots would have cost a game had CP3 not been en fuego

I know his jump shot looked bad, but before last night, he hadn't got to shoot very many times in actual games. His overall stat line wasn't too bad. In 16 minutes, he had 5 pts, 5 rebs, and a nice steal. Hopefully this was a tune up game for Danny. I have a feeling he'll make a big contribution in one of the next few games.

Dudley v Granger. Duds plays aggressive in your face D. Granger is a Hollins esque foul machine. Duds has come through with important corner threes. Granger can't hit a shot in shoot around. Duds plays with confidence. Granger looks like Ryan Gomes. Maybe his knees are bothering him.

We were hoping for a SF who could post up. Maybe it's Doc's doing but we haven't seen it. We were hoping on a long wing spanned defender. Duds will do better on Durant. The PO's are not the time to inch your way up the learning curve. If he gives us 10 ppg and can defend we will have a pretty decent bench but don't bet the whole ranch on it.

And Granger doesn't?? Granger was giving guys like no room to breathe on defense and he's a better rebounder than Duldey.AND can run faster, he was running on transition and had that lay-up I say no way Dudley does that very often. Sure, dudley can hit the three, but he's slow, at times streaky, barely shows hustle, can't rebound like Granger, and his free throws have been shaky. I would stick with a more proven player and actaul former all-star in Danny Granger. He will get out of his funk, he just came out of team he played for for years and has to get adjusted to a new system and find his rhythm. Hands down he will be a great 3 guard for us if he actaully stays for training camp in the offseason and gets healthy. Doc has that affect on players.

Dudley has stunk it up all season. He can make a shot or two but that's about it. Grangers 1 on 1 defense is incredible. I haven't seen him get beat very often. Grangers shot will come back in the next few games.

Granger's defense is good cause he's so damn long he can get in the passing lanes, got a few steals yesterday, and he can help on rebounds as we saw him tip some with those long arms of his, Granger has better defense, Dudley has a better jump shot.

Maybe the thread title should be "Will Danny Granger show up".

I am also waiting for Redick to get going again.

Granger has played in 8 games

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3943/

He's a foul machine. I see little to yell and scream about. Sorry, I see Ryan Gomes but not quite as bad, a guy who has no confidence. Grant Hill Jamison, Billups all didn't show up. Dudley didn't show up. It bothers me when a guy bricks shots in shoot around. Sometimes guys just don't have it anymore. Dudley has been hustling, he may be slow but he is putting in the effort. If Granger comes back we can't afford him next year and if he doesn't we won't want him. If he plays like now he's not worth much and if he comes back it's going to be for well over $3 mill which is over our limit.

Doc is keeping him hoping that it's just adjusting to a new system and hoping he's the piece we need. Hedo was playing a lot better. I'll keep an open mind but what I've seen is a very mediocre bench player. As a matter of fact our weakest bench player if you count Hedo.

We need granger on defense.. If he gives us at least 7 points then I can live with that.. Don't expect 15 every night because then you will just keep coming back to this thread... We should support our players not bash them like laker fans!!

If he slows down KD then less than 7 would be ok.

JJ has been doing great the past two games shooting and making plays. It feels like Granger can bounce back if he works his way from the post and in. The long ball just won't fall get on the block across from baby and do work.

I only just watched game 7 just now and I wouldn't have made that statement if I had seen it. I haven't had time to watch the OKC game yet. That's the problem with living so far away, I can't watch games live and live a decent life.

When he can get some decent minutes. ... he plays for 2 minutes then sits. We might see him more this series to throw different bodies at KD though

Decent minutes=not in foul trouble. Fouls have been a big problem for him. Maybe he needs to move further down the bench from Hollins. Very Happy

I thought Granger played very well on defense...his defense has led to a couple of steals and easy buckets. I feel like when he's in they run more. Although it would be nice if he could hit an open shot.

This. His shots will begin to fall again... People are way too tough on this dude. He will shine this series just watch. His defense has been great (outside of fouling) and he is just a high IQ guy. He's going against KD, expect some fouls regardless. If Granger gets more playing time and use to the system he will do amazing things. I mean the guy looks like he's in great shape and he's only like what 30-31 years old? Lots of life in him still

So Dudley has one lost season and he's done forever, but Granger has two lost seasons and is older and is ready to bounce back any time now?

Yessss. Has Dudley ever been an all star? Has Dudley been facing some more serious injuries?

Dudley was a bench player. Granger was leading his team for years. So yes Granger making a bounce back is much more believable.

One on one defense? You kidding, right? If you mean he's a glorified version of Ryan Hollins (Foul machine), then I completely agree. That's all he is, a foul machine.

He is playing solid defense. Even had some defensive plays that lead to turnovers. Comparing him to Ryan hollins really makes you lose credibility.

The Hollins comment Joe plagarized from me when I called him Hollins esque, My lawyer will be contacting him in the morning. Hollins is a better offensive weapon than Granger. Granger used to be good and bald men used to have hair. Grant Hill and Jamison used to be good. Aside from one game he has done little. By your assessment he should start. Again If Hedo were playing Danny would be our worst bench player. How many shots has he missed? Is he zero for thirty?

I've ALWAYS Loved Granger when he was a Pacer... but I was AT Staples for the amazing GAME 4 and then after mother's day dinner, I was excited to watch the 2nd half AGAIN on TIVO. I followed Granger and what he was doing.

  • Absolutely no confidence on offense. He retreats to a corner and waits for a 3 and BRICKS IT. He has BRICKED EVERY 3 pointer and outside shot since GAME 2 of Round 1. That's NINE Games ago. NINE. These are PLAYOFF GAMES. He is USELESS on Offense.
  1. On Defense is a glorified Jared Dudley and Ryan Hollins. ALL HE IS IS A BIG BODY. BUT HE IS SOFT. a foul machine.

  2. Help Defense. AWFUL. Every Time Russell drove to the hoop, Deandre would have at least got in the way. Granger did NOTHING. Let him go by like he was a ghost. TWO of the last layups where Russell got by Collison, GRANGER was acting like HIM with 4 fouls couldn't pick up more. WHAT???

  3. Rebounding - For a BUFF, SF... HE SUCKS. PERIOD.

With Barnes 0-6 on Three Pointers....

GOD??? WHEN WILL WE EVER GET A RELIABLE SMALL FORWARD????

CARON BUTLER > GRANGER, HEDO, JARED DUDLEY.

I would still take Barnes over Butler but BARELY.

BARELY.

Let's hope Barnes hits some threes next game.

Granger has been cringe worthy on D, making the dumbest fouls at the worst times on several occasions. I honestly wasn't expecting much from him anyways so it's no big deal to me.

Doc actually commended him for playing good defense and using his length to influence the boards. He was 1/5 part of why we won Game 4, OK?

Actually, I was the one who coined that phrase long before you did and most here would acknowledge that. So you better get your retainer back from your lawyer. Razz

I was also very happy with this acquisition of Granger, unfortunately the Pacers is right in trading him, he is not actually helping that much his shoot is awful most of the time, doesn't move to free himself and get a better position for his shoot, I'm not sure if he is still adjusting CP3's game, but he should be the one moving and let CP3 find him. I like his long arms btw for defense but he need to score when in the floor.
