It sounds like the NBA wants the new owner to have a "clean slate"

Don't think the NBA is running anything other than the eventual sale, or perhaps someone else has a better understanding?

Quite frankly I read this as progress is being made and Adam is merely dotting "I's & crossing T's"

I see it as the League gettin rid of all things Sterling. Wouldn't Be surprised if Gary Sacks Is gone as well. They would either promote Doc to OFFICIAL GM or President. Having that Popovich type of role. I am glad they are getting rid of all things Sterling

The statement he put out in which he practically was defending Sterling is one I think he'd like to have back. I appreciate all that he's done and all, but that statement he put was beyond pathetic. We need a clean slate with a fresh batch. Can't have any more puppets around.

The new owners should decide this, not the nba, I smell something rotten!

Remember, just because you work for a "Hitler" type of a boss, doesn't mean you share his same views, but you still need a paycheck. Andy did the best he could under the IMMEDIATE circumstances he was facing at that exact moment in time. He literally did not know who he could be working for the next day. Any of us would have said a simular statement with our job on the line, admit it!

I think defending Sterling too much was the problem. ESPN TAKE:

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Los Angeles Clippers president Andy Roeser is taking an indefinite leave of absence, effective immediately, the NBA announced Tuesday.

Roeser, one of the team's alternate governors, has been with the organization since 1984.

STERLING BANNED FOR LIFE

Adam Silver/Donald Sterling

NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the league for life in the wake of Sterling's racist comments. Full coverage

"This will provide an opportunity for a new CEO to begin on a clean slate and for the team to stabilize under difficult circumstances," league spokesman Mike Bass said.

The NBA announced last week that it will appoint a CEO to oversee the team's day-to-day operations.

Clippers owner Donald Sterling was banned from the NBA for life and fined $2.5 million last Tuesday by commissioner Adam Silver for racist remarks he made that were published by TMZ.

Roeser, one of the Clippers' two alternate governors besides Sterling, had been in charge of the team since Silver's announcement. However, he drew the ire of many in the organization after he released a statement initially giving Sterling the benefit of the doubt in the wake of the owner's controversial comments.

The Clippers beat the second-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the opener of the teams' Western Conference second-round series. Game 2 is Wednesday night in Oklahoma City.

Be careful what you wish for! It is this current fo staff that has put together the very team that you love right now, NOT STERLING! You "don't throw out the baby with the bath water", to quote an old saying, yes, I'm that old, lol!

Actually, in defense of your post, there were a number of people here that were like Andy based on us not knowing a freaking thing just as he didn't had the wait and see attitude. I think he towed the company line at the time.

I 100 per cent agree with you! It's one thing to discipline a bad owner, but that's where the buck should stop! Changing the staff in the FO isTHE NEW OWNERS PREROGATIVE, NOT THE NBA OFFICE! Unless the NBA OFFICE can publicly give the reason for this action, I say, BUTT OUT! Till a new owner takes over, IMHO.

Not much of a surprise...Andy's been there thirty years, and besides Ralph, and he's the long-tenured employee in the organization. If Ralph follows through with his retirement plans after the season, and if Andy leaves for good, the last tie of the old Clippers (dating back to the Sports Arena days) will be Mike Smith.

A similar defense was employed at the Nuremberg trials... didn't work then, either.

Anyone worried that taking this action now makes the distraction for the team worse?

I'm a little miffed by some of the comments I'm reading, the NBA has a fiduciary responsibility to the current owner as well as the eventual owner so a move like should be expected. Furthermore, here is a quote from Doc;

Rivers said he doesn't expect Roeser's absence to affect how he does his job, primary because he has operated at a certain level of independence regarding basketball operations.

"Honestly, that's how they've allowed me to work for the most part anyway, so that hasn't been a big change," he said. "Andy would basically let me do what I needed to do. I would have to call him once in a while about stuff, so it's nothing big."

Rivers also said he isn't concerned that the organization may have to operate for a while without a primary leader.

"I think we have good leadership right now," he said. "There's a lot of guys that have been very good with all the staff downtown, so I think there's very good leadership in place."

And besides once a new owner is in place of course they choose who they want. I personally like Gary Sacks, his seats were a row behind mine for many years, his wife and kid(s) also very nice people. Whomever this CEO the NBA puts in Andy's place will by and large only be "symbolic". It would be foolish to assume that the incoming CEO would do anything other than "behind the scenes" allow Doc to do whatever he feels is best for the team and organization.

There is NO new owner yet that's why the NBA is doing this.

Good riddance to Donald's buttkisser-in-chief. I completely agree with the NBA, we need as clean a break from the Sterlings as possible.

I don't think Andy did anything wrong per se, but he is Smithers to Sterling's Mr. Burns.

He had to go.

Yet Shelly is still lurking around. She is annoying with cluelessness bordering on the absurd

So supposedly she is the co-owner, huh? Lol

Roeser's role was always more running the business side of the team (pretty much making sure the team always maintained a positive cash flow, especially since he's an accountant by trade); his only main job as far as basketball operations was handling player contract negotiations.

But the big problem is all the contracts of all employees and players are still under Sterling he is the one paying for it.NBA should act fast on it for the new owners to get in or stop any of this to lessen any distraction for the Clippers remember we are contenders for the NBA Championship.NBA should act on the right timing no distraction please.

I feel for Andy Roesner. Its sucks that he's been cut after more than 20 years with the organization and didn't get a proper sendoff. I understand some people aren't too thrill with Sterling's right hand guy, but I always found Andy the guy who keep Sterling calm before the storm. He probably have the worst job, but get paid really well at the position he is at. I also found him very nice and cool guy and never share the views of Donald Sterling. It was never his fault that Sterling's situation went south for both Donald and him. Good luck in life Andy!

Check out this link, its a very informative video from Darren rovell(sp?) I think it explains why were not hearing much from the NBA on the legal situation.

Everyone here has it wrong. Trust me. Employees are dancing at their desks that Roeser is history.

I have had season tickets longer than most of you have been alive. I think he is an arrogant prick who never gave

a crap about anyone but Donald, especially about the fans

One more thing. I guarantee that Shelly would have fired Roeser and that's why she came out as supporting a new CEO. But truth be told, she is just as much of a racist, if you read her depo's

Never met him personally but to have been with the team for all those crappy years and never be fired you had to be sterlings puppet! He really led our team to some horrible decisions (whatever his real role was). This is definitely a good thing he is gone.

But I give more credit to Neil Olshey than anyone currently with the team. Sacks merely inherited what Olshey put together.
