if we are going to pick a wing player the point of emphasis should be on defense(length, lateral quickness and (athleticism) and shooting.

I agree. My two predictions for stardom in the NBA: Zach LaVine and Glen Robinson III, in that order. All the rest will be good players, but are overhyped. LaVine will outdo all these hype-ballers. My opinion, for what it is worth.

One player they should look at is Deandre Daniels from UCONN. As a big Uconn fan, I've seen every game he's played. He is a late bloomer who has been coming on. He's a long, 6'9" small forward with an excellent stroke. He's a first rate defender and excellent 3 point shooter, who may still be around with the Clippers pick.

Sure, we have Reggie Bullock, who is much the same, but Daniels, I think will be the better player, who has gotten better every year.

There are two knocks on him. The first is obvious. He needs to gain some weight and he will The second, I don't think is going to be much of a problem for him. That is, he's not a shot creator or ball handler. Because of Uconn's system and because they had Shabazz Napier and Boatright dominating the ball, Daniels didn't see it until the end of plays.

He's more skilled than most people realize, which is good for us. It makes him worth a shot at 28.

Bottom line, nobody at this point in the draft is likely to be an asset to a playoff or championship level team, as the Clippers are, in that first year or two, but Daniels is interesting.

I usually say that when they say a player has a lot of upside, it usually means the player has no fundamental skills. Aminu anyone? Daniels is different. He can already shoot lights out, his handle is better than most realize. He's very long and quick defensively. While he's not a lock for being an asset, he just might have the potential to be a major star in three years. Worth the risk at 28.

another developmental guy in addition to Daniels worth a look is Markel Brown.... little short and undersized, and.... has some skills.

I wonder how far he'll slip. Remember Jared Sullinger fell to the 21st pick because of back issues and Doc took a chance on him.

Randle isn't going to fall past 15-17, but I would take him in a heart beat if we ended up trading for a higher pick.

the greek freak 2 would be great at sf,

if the clips can trade someone for a top 10 pic...they can get kristaps (c) who looks like he would develop into a defensive monster..

could play him at pf or c..use him as a backup

They were dead set on Embiid before these reported red flags, maybe they still want a young athletic center for their team.

Cavs get: DeAndre/Jamal/Reggie/28th pick

Clippers get: Spencer Hawes/Andrew Wiggins or Japari Parker

The Cavs can then trade Dion Waiters for Denver's #11 pick.

We would have cut $11 mil from our roster, after we sign the #1 pick we will have roughly $6 mil to sign Pau or Channing Frye.

Bingo! Everybody wins

Right now, I suspect we are the third best team in the NBA. DJ isn't going anywhere and we are certainly not going to be looking for a rookie to bring us to the next level. Any adjustments we make will not involve CP3 or Blake and the only way I could imagine DJ going anywhere is for a solid veteran who can take us to the next level

And who would that be? We need defense more than another scorer. DJ is staying.

Let Collison walk and replace him with Shabazz Napier in the draft

Spencer Hawes is not good enough on defense to be our starting C, and Parker/Wiggins might not be producing early enough, might be a step back as a team. It is too risky a move. SA traded George Hill for Leonard. The guys we can look to trade is someone like Bullock, Jamal and if he wasn't the new guy, even Redick could be an option like that. A guy you like, but you let go in order to make the team better.

there are a lot of nba-type wings in this draft that's for sure. in my opinion if we draft a player i am really hoping for just two types of players: a wing player w/length(a wingspan of at least 6'10"),size(6'7"-6'8"),lateral quickness and shooting who can also defend 1-3 positions, and big w/length,hustle,rebounding and toughness. We need a role player who is equipped w what i mentioned above.Chris Paul should not be our best perimeter defender next season cause we need him on offense and as what I have observed he defended curry, westbrook and durant which i know he can but in all honesty he was out of gas cause of his focus on stopping the best scorers of the opposing team.we need a wing, not barnes, that can help paul on the D side of the floor.By the way talking about barnes,i would love to have harrison barnes as he can defend and shoot threes. He only needs playing time and iguodala obviously prevented him to get quality minutes at the wing. For our bigs, a backup big is definitely a priority that the team must solve this offseason. We don't have length after griifin and dj.We need someone to anchor the paint when dj and griffin takes a rest who can get rebounds and bother shots. a big and a wing please.

Damn this thing is in 11 Days? Whew!

So Mitch McGary, Glen Rob III, and Shabazz Napier , or Russ Smith,

Or my favorite guy who is right for us and this team is Patric Young from Florida. 6'10 250 lb. brings Tougness and Strength.

Here's a look.

This kid brings energy, toughness, defense, and strength. I watched him ALOT. The kid has some of the best lateral quickness for a big I have ever seen. Very Strong. Almost Blake type strength if he keeps working.

I think you guys should really check out Clint Capela.

Bench PF/C is a huge problem with the Clippers and I think Capela can fit in with the team. He brings rebounding, defense, and some limited offense but uses athleticism to finish.

He's basically a DeAndre Jordan 2.0 that comes for cheap (rookie contract). Great backup for DJ.

Look out for Vasilije Micic. I think he's going to be a 2nd round steal.

His game reminds me of Manu Ginobili. I hope we buy a 2nd round pick for this dude. He's 6'-6" and has the passing ability of a PG and the shooting ability of a SG.

I have confidence that he can come in instantly and take Collisons place.

These damn Spurs are forcing me to want to dublicate their team for us.

after a quick perusal of various mock drafts, would say our cluster looks like GR3, Jarnell Stokes, Mitch McGary, and DeAndre Daniels. Robinson seems like the most likely pick, w/a coupla few teams before us possibly capable of spoiling the party. Shabazz is a consensus early to mid twenties pick, so if we were to move up, would guess it would be for him, and.... don't know if Ainge'd be interested in JJ for the 17th, and don't know if he'd give up the likes of Avery Bradley in addition, or even Green ?? don't think we need to swap picks w/them as they already have an earlier pick, and.... am tired of being fleeced by the Celts. stand pat Doc and Gary.

the other trade I'd look at would be Jared Dudley to Philly for their 32nd, and don't know if they'd give up Moultrie (can he guard Lebron) in the process ?? if we bought a pick, my money would be spent on the big man, Walter Tavares. another guy I wouldn't mind, and don't know if I'm being sentimental cuz his dad played for us, but wouldn't mind McAdoo as a third string pf, if we could dig up another pick in the second.

pg * if we can't retain Collison, and given that I don't think we could afford Sessions, think that ups the ante for Shabazz, and as mentioned above, would be nice if we could do that w/o giving up our 28th.

sg * personally like both Jamal and Willie, and based on JJ's salary and lack of defense, 'specially come the more physical playoffs, would hope to move him in exchange for a pick and a player. in his stead, would look to bring in a vet like Franciso Garcia, if he'd think of declining his player option, or if he's not game, then might look to the likes of Xavier Henry and hope he can improve upon his D w/Doc.

sf * both Barnes and Bullock have team options after this season, and my guess is that one of 'em is gone by then, hence GR3 makes a lot of sense here. don't know if any of Hedo, Granger or SJack is worth bringing back, and given the overload of players here, would def look to move Dudley, and hopefully to Philly where we he can perhaps ease the transition of Wiggins, if Philly is successful in moving up for him. also don't think we could afford Ariza.

pf * if Davis takes the player option we're looking pretty good here, if not would think about Jason Smith. in the draft would have no problem w/Jarnell Stokes, as can't imagine him not being a boom in the playoffs, and at both ends of the court at that.

c * so tired of hearing that we can't win w/a center that can't shoot ft's. true it's painful to watch, and.... please do your due diligence over the history of the nba and see how many great centers had their difficulties at the charity stripe. have said forever that DJ is not the problem.... we need D on the wings. we could also use a replacement for Ryan. don't think we could afford Kaman, albeit would be curious how he might feel about things w/the new ownership ?? and again, think that Walter Tavares might make a lot of sense, again for his defense and physicality in the playoffs, albeit prolly not in the short term.

Spencer Dinwiddie is gaining attention from the Clippers in the draft. He's a 6'6" PG and I have to say, I would be disappointed in wasting our 1st round pick on some random PG like this dude. I am praying the Clippers don't draft a guard because that is not our first priority.

clippers might be trying to trade paul for lebran???

then they would need a point guard Smile

doc is up to something big...

expect some changes by november guys Smile

there is no sterling to nullify his trades now...

so go to vegas and bet the clips to win it all at 8 to 1

If the Clippers don't draft Clint Capela, Mitch McGary, Jarnell Stokes, Glenn Robinson III, Cleanthony Early, or Shabazz Napier, then it will be considered a disappointment IN MY OPINION. These are the realistic best options with our pick, and notice I only included 1 guard.

I haven't really looked into Patrick Young, probably because he is predicted to being draft in the 40's (We have the 28th pick). But I just have a bad feeling we are going to draft another underachieving guard like we do year after year. PF/C should be the 1st priority, then the SF position. We can always sign a FA as CP3's backup if Collison leaves.

I'll be in Vegas in July and I will bet on Clips to win it all. I hope I can get 8-1.

Edited addendum:

Miami Heat: 5/2

San Antonio Spurs: 8/1

Oklahoma City Thunder: 8/1

Los Angeles Clippers: 10/1

Indiana Pacers: 15/1

Chicago Bulls: 15/1

Maybe I can get 10 - 1!!!

We need to get as many rookies this year as possible because we don't have a 1st round pick next year.

Jamal and our 28th for Chicago's 16th and 19th picks.

I would love Zach LaVine and Rodney Hood.

@AdamZagoria: C.J. Fair, Glenn Robinson, Cleanthony Early and JaKarr Sampson worked out today for the Clippers.

These are all small forwards, not guards (finally). Out of the list, I think Glenn Robinson III and Cleanthony Early are the best fits.

Yea I saw Glen Rob III post a picture of him in Cali. I figured he was working out for the Clips! I just havent seen any news and Dan Woike is on furlough this week.

I have been all over Glenn. I feel he was the best player Doc could morph and create our own Kawhi Leonard.

I feel if we draft a SF, one of our SFs will be on their way out or atleast two if Melo comes.

    1.) Glenn Rob III

    2.) Patric Young

    3.) Mitch McGary

4.) Zach Lavine lol. I like this kid

    to mr cleeper:::

you are supposed to be the moderator not an instigator... ??????

and you never know who will be traded...

    the nba is a business..not a family..

and it is easier to find a point guard than a superstar small forward..

so why would doc not trade paul for mr James??

it is a good move for both teams..

clips would have a great starting line up..

    resign collison..

    collison, jj...james...griffin and dj..

    that is a great 5..

and there would be a line to get on our bench...

    think about that..

I don't see Zach Lavine dropping to our pick, but I agree with the others. Glenn Rob, Patrick Young, Mitch McGary, Jarnell Stokes, Shabazz Napier, Clint Capela, Cleanthony Early. That is my list.

I think its harder to find a true point guard. That could drop 30 and 15 on any given night. You are just looking at the names. Yea that is a great 5 , but none of those pieces fit. Collison, LeBron, Blake, and DJ all score in the paint. Those pieces do not fit.

You have to look at it from a different standpoint. A team of Chris , JJ, Melo , Blake and DJ all compliment each other. Chris JJ and Melo all give space to Blake and DJ to operate. Especially when Chris and Blake hit that high screen and roll and Blake throws the lob to DJ. When teams start helping on that look who is in the corner? JJ and Carmelo? WoW. So many options.

That team you listed doesn't help each other. It just clogs everything up.

Because we have limited cap space, this is a deep draft, and we do not currently have a pick next season, I hope we either buy a second rounder or trade down in exchange for multiple picks. It is unlikely that we land someone at 28 who will significantly impact our fortunes. However, there are usually guys in the late first/early second that serve as inexpensive bench players. There are lots to choose from, but one of my favorites is Spencer Dinwiddie, a well-rounded combo guard who's stock is low because he suffered a mid-season injury.

@DwainPrice: Baylor C/PF Isaiah Austin worked out for the ‪#‎Clippers‬ today, then flew to Toronto and will work out for the ‪#‎Raptors‬ on Thursday.

Isaiah Austin is a shot blocking big. A month ago, he was my #1 person to draft with our pick. His draft stock was slipping (don't know why) but he wouldn't be a bad pick.

Let's hope that neither Fair, nor Sampson appear on our roster. I wonder if they pair projected first rounders against projected second rounders to see if there's a discernible difference between the two, thereby confirming whether or not the projected first rounder is actually worthy.

Yes, Austin is blind in one eye but he's still a beast and has plenty of potential. As for the above comment, I agree. Glenn Rob III and Cleanthony Early are the best choices and Fair and Sampson are prob late second round picks.

Shooting and actually scoring are completely different things. You do know that right. A majority of Collison, Blake, and James scoring came in the paint and that is a large majority. DJ, that was the only place he scored. That does not work team wise if 4 out of your 5 players all have to score in the same place. Meaning they all have to score in the paint which clogs up the lanes for anytype of penetration and kicks or offensive rebounds. I never said he could not shoot , but he scores in the paint. It does not work team wise. How many teams do you see that they can only score in the paint without any outside shooting? Okay. That Is what I thought

wish peoples would put as much thought into how our defense would work, as opposed to just looking at the other, more talked about, side of the court.

and do agree that Isaiah Austin is a player of intrigue, and do like that can shoot and block shots, and.... don't think he is a playoff basketball player, which is the type of player we need to target from now on, as it is clear we need someone to defend Durant/James, and to apply consistent defensive pressure on the wings, and behind Blake and DJ.

'nother player that's not getting a lot of ink on this forum, but that is also of some intrigue, 'specially over the long run me thinks, is Walter Tavares.

I have said this before, and I will say it again. There are only two superstars, almost MJ level, in this draft -- LaVine and Exxum, in that order. We cannot get Exxum. But if somehow we could pull off a trade for LaVine, we would rule for years.

This is my opinion but I stand by it until proven otherwise.

No, I don't know who will be traded... but I think it's quite telling that not a single credible NBA insider has reported any pending trade of CP3 for LeBron, so I ask again... Who says?

    That's not instigating... it's called a question.
