Well, judging by this pick at the 28th we probably would have screwed up the second round one too. The best thing to look forward to now is if this pick turns into a good free agent.

I'm tired of acquiring shooters that can't ankle once they put on a clippers uni. We need to mix it up!!

Cory Jefferson, the 60th pic of the draft, would have been a better option than what we got.

Not really. Shows even SA can make a mistake...at the 60th pick, lol.

I'd rather have Jordan Clarkson than CJ Wilcox...and the Lakers acquired him for cash considerations.

It was Brooklyns pick. They bought it

How? Jefferson could have been a good back up.

Wilcox is way better than Clarkson. I'm mad we drafted CJ, but he's a really good prospect.

He's going to be a really good role player for us. We just need to get rid of some SG's.

But we need a backup point guard with Collison potentially gone.

Look at the bigger picture though. Jamal ($5.5mil) or JJ ($6.8mil) are expendable if we are trying to get LeBron or Melo.

Or in a smaller example. Deng or Ariza.

Fingers crossed that we sign Patric Young. God knows our front court needs help and Doc is showing a preference for players with maturity. Please, get, it, done.

As much I don't like the pick, I wouldn't overact that Docs need to go and stuff. You guys are clearing overreacting. Yes, there may be a better players, but it still not clear if they would have been better than Wilcox for us.

I understand why Doc went to this route. He believe CJ Wilcox provide the best shooting and maybe defense on the team. He want his team to be small and athletics as the game these days lead to more guards than big men. I will wait and see and serve my judgement later.

My biggest issue with the pick was that Kyle Anderson was available. What adds insult to injury is that the Spurs made the no brainer pick just a few picks later. Now, in a couple years, TNT commentators are going to praise the Spurs for being so shrewd for finding another diamond in the rough in Kyle Anderson with the last pick in the 1st round.

Doc better pull an ace out his sleeve, because this is overall a terrible draft. If he wanted to pick a SG, why not Anderson? Heck, even Early would've been a good pick. Wilcox may shoot at a decent level but other than that he's pretty much just another Bullock that will take up space on the roster. Seriously Doc, you better know what you're doing here.

President Rivers is no longer is GM but has the final say in all the GM's decision making.

Didn't we just hire a new GM?? Why can't Doc let him have some say?

Okay. The sky isn't falling. We got a skilled 2 guard with a very late pick. You guys are acting like we picked Olowokandi over Vince Carter. We now have a lot of assets that we can trade. Jamal is a one dimensional scorer in his mid 30's that can't play defense. JJ is a great shooter that moves well without the ball but can't play the point or small forward, let alone guard them. Maybe we need to get rid.of one of them if not both for versatility at the wing and front court and use Wilcox as insurance. We used the 28th pick for goodness sake. Let's chill out and let the offseason start.

Doc has been pretty clueless in his two years as a GM. If this team wants to contend for a title, many changes needed this summer.

Which is what I meant of course. Still not a single move Doc has done in the front office has panned out. Even guys who looked like good deals at the time (Reddick, Dudley, Granger, Davis) ended up being busts. Then he goes out and drafts a SG of all things when our holes are at SF and backup big??? SG is our deepest position with two starting caliber players!

Woke up to the sad news that it wasn't just a nightmare and we really did pick a 23-year-old with a low ceiling who doesn't fill a need over Kyle Anderson.

You would have to try to screw up a pick this badly. It's pretty clear that Ballmer has a lot of work to do to upgrade our scouting department once he takes over, because our competition is simply drafting a lot better than us.

Redick wasn't a bust, he had a couple fluke injuries, it happens. When he did play, he was a perfect fit with our offense.

Dudley, Granger, Davis, Mullens, Jamison, and Bullock, on the other hand? All bad moves.

Once again a pile of total gibberish here like we drafted the guy with the second pick! You don't even know what the idea was behind this and already trash talk Doc for it. What happens if we offload J-Cross, Bullock and Green in a move to get LeBron...then we have serious shortage of guards and this guy if not else at least can shoot and to be honest I don't think is much worse defender than J-Cross!

For one , Redick was not a bust. He had a sereies on injuries , because of one dirty play by Travis Outlaw and Demarcus Cousins. One injury came from the other. once he gets....

A LeBron trade is literally the only justification for the pick, as I said earlier. If LeBron stays in Miami or goes elsewhere, we are then stuck with five shooting guards and no good small forwards.

In other words, this pick was so f***** stupid that it would take trading for the best player in the world for it to make sense. Add this in with all the other bad personnel moves Doc has made and now do you understand why people are upset?

I think Lebron is staying in Miami. He, Bosh and Wade are all going to give up some money, so they can add talent. D. Wade is no longer a 20-million dollar player. Bosh never was

But I think they are all going to stay together.

The idea that Wilcox was picked for trade bait isn't credible. He may get traded, but it's not as if he has big time value. He was a few picks away from being a second rounder.

Many of us still treat the draft as if it as important as it was when we always had a top 3 pick. It isn't. How much did Reggie Bullock help us last year?

That's still no excuse for not drafting Anderson. "Crap, we couldn't get a deal done - let's reach for a useless and redundant role player instead of making the obvious pick!" Where's the logic in that?

Nobody's saying that Wilcox is trade bait. The "logic" behind this pick is that Wilcox would replace Redick/Crawford/Bullock/Green if any of THEM get moved.

Just because we enjoy throwing away draft picks does not mean the draft isn't important. Our main competition - the Spurs and OKC - are constantly using the draft to bring in young, cheap talent to develop. Meanwhile, we sign old veterans on their last legs and proven scrubs to fill out our roster while blowing draft picks on guys who are of no help and don't play. Gee, I wonder why we still can't get past the second round of the playoffs.

Redick was a great but can't stay healthy and is nowhere near as good as Bledsoe. Doc got raped in that trade.

easy there, we're not stuck with anyone. They can always be moved. This is more about Lebron for you than the pick. Face it, looks like Lebron is staying in Miami. The pick is not a bad one. It's the 28th pick, FFS!

Repped High Quality Post

You do know that Bledsoe is about get $12+Mil in Free Agency this summer, right?

1 year of Bledsoe is not worth 4 years of Redick. I'm all alone on this, but I'd even argue 1 year of Bledsoe isn't worth 1 year of Redick.

Redick made our team almost unguardable. He's our 3rd most important player to this offense, even more so than Jamal.

Bledsoe would've been nice on defense, but he never ever came through offensively when we needed him.

Word is Will Clyburn and Khem Birch will be on our SL squad. A pair of great rebounders.

Both seem like good, cheap 3rd-stringers if we direct more cap to the starting SF spot (Deng?). I'll be interested to see what they can do in Vegas.

No, it's about another 2-guard with no upside when better players were available.
