I hope he sticks. This may be a foretelling sign that Collison will not return.

Very nice pick up by the Clippers. Looks like Delonte had some solid numbers in China, so this is certainly a low risk, high reward signing, even if it's just for the summer.

Sort of reminds me of the Barnes signing. Nice pick up to shed that Collison salary. Maybe a player like West and Pierce and Jamal off the bench. With some great bench bigs. Maybe Lamar....

Nice pick up! I like the idea of a defensive orientated PG/SG

Hope he's in shape and has his head on straight. One downside: Even though there was a minute chance of LeBron coming here anyway, but if Delonte is here, no chance LeBron is coming

Ain't he a headcase? Full of drama. Thank god its only a SL deal.

If he doesn't cause drama in the locker room I would love to have Delonte on the team.I like his style of play and think he would fit in great playing next to Crawford off the bench. We need a guard to play next to Crawford who doesn't need to have the ball in his hands, plays tough defense, and can shoot from 3.He has past experience playing for Doc which is a plus but he does bring a lot of drama with him unfortunately.

Doesn't really seem like the correct arena to try him out. I'd rather work out some Euro or undrafted college PG at SL and evaluate Delonte's mind and body with an invite to training camp where he'd be jelling (or not) with our actual team..

I've always liked Delonte despite his issues. Maybe I'm in the minority but I hope he ends up on the team. He can play defense and isn't undersized. Me likey.

Honestly in my opinion Delonte is a bad idea for 29 NBA teams. There's one team that I think Delonte would be able to resurrect his career with and that's whatever team has Doc Rivers.

Delonte needs a coach who's dealt with him before and can keep the rein's tight. He also needs a coach that he respects.

If we don't re-sign Darren he is at the top of my list behind Patty Mills.

I think this is a good move. If he can get back to form he would be useful off the bench.

Ugh, Delonte is the retread of the retreads. Baron Davis is still probably better than Delonte. And Baron was HORRIBLE the late years of his career.

Guarantee Grant Hill can still outplay Delonte.

Speed at backup point has helped us the last 2 years in Bledsoe and Collison. Why get someone slow with no shot?

Really? Mo Willams, Bledsoe, and Collison were all undersized and no defense...Save Bledsoe. Speed is only good for a 1st or second round exit. I'll take a chance on him.

i think West would be a perfect backup, i wanted him this year. West is a big PG that can play D and also be on the floor with CP at the same time.

i love west as cp3's backup pg and he also has the size to play sg but he needs to prove it first and hopefully he can show us in the summer league why we need to sign him for next season.

Great point. There definitely was that underlying commonality between Williams, Collison, and Bledsoe and it has always led to a 2nd round out at best. I can't recall watching too many games in which Delonte West played in, but at this point there does need to be a change in direction. If West can offer solid defense then it's an upgrade. We need defensive guys and hopefully West can fit that mold. Doc has always been fond of West, and sometimes he can find some very good players to fit his system.

I kind of recall the decision to bring in Hedo Turkoglu, which at the time I was completely against. Turkoglu ended being a really great decision, and had he not been injured he probably could have helped us tremendously in the playoffs. Perhaps Doc is hoping he can have success with Delonte as well. Either way Delonte has summer league to display how much he has left in the tank.

Delonte West is a very good player. Hopefully he hasn't lost a step in the past couple years playing against substandard competition. I like this idea though. He's tough as nails, true competitor, plays hard, and is a clutch shooter.

He'll get no more than a minimum deal and will be grateful for that opportunity. He'll be motivated. And it leaves us with exceptions to use on other positions.

I thought about Mo, but I don't think it makes sense. Redundant talent and not really a PG IMO. No defense, shoot first guy. He'd play his role, he's old enough to know what he is and what he isn't but I think we can do better as far as fit with the roster.

If we sign Delonte, say goodbye to the Lebron-dream because Delonte bumped uglies with Lebron's mom. "Allegedly"

Speed is only good for 1st or 2nd round exit? Then would not be whatever the clip have done the last few years only good for a 1st or 2nd round exit since that is what happened? So we should get rid of the whole team following that logic.

Maybe I should have added a sarcasm smili or something. My point is that undersized PG's who have speed haven't worked out that well in the playoffs for us. Maybe trying to get a bigger PG who can shoot and play defense might fair better considering we already have a undersized PG starting.

if there is one pg who you want to play alongside jamal crawford on the second unit, its delonte west. he is 6'3" w/ a 6'6" wingspan which is just an inch shorter than the 6'1" beldsoe's 6'7" wingspan and a 3" more of collison's wingspan. he may not be that quick or athletic compared toEbledand dc but he definitely has the the size to play defense blocking opponents shots and he has long and quick hands to antipate passes and close out passing lanes, and his type of play on offense is perfect w crawford and even paul for he doesn't need the ball in his hands to be more effective if you compare him to dc.his spot up shooting is great and his form is smooth. bledsoe can't even shoot right now. he is actually a combination of what dc and Ebledcan bring w lesser speed and atheticism but he is way more smarter than both of them.he is basically a skilled cerebral combo guard w size and handles. the main question marks with him right now is his attitude, game shape and consistency.

It's a lame rumor that LeBron haters ran with in 2010, and regardless, he's only been signed to a Summer League deal with no guarantee of making our actual roster. Chillax.

Delonte is a good and solid player two way player if he's fine mentally, but him being fine mentally has been why he hasn't been in the league, soo...

I mean he was playing pretty well for Dallas and then they let him go. It wasn't because of his actual basketball ability or lack thereof.

Like someone mentioned, he's 6'3 but his length means he can actually defend SG's. He has a 6'6 wingspan and an 8'3.5" standing reach. For comparison, Redick is 6'5 but has a 6'3.25 wingspan and 8'1.5" standing reach and Bledsoe is 6'1.5" and has a 6'7 wingspan and 8'2 standing reach. So in terms of what is important in basketball, Redick is the shortest of those three players when it comes to contesting shots, getting shots over defenders, covering horizontal space.

If he's right with everything, he's a backup PG that can actually play and guard both PG and SG, so no more feeling so undersized. He's got length and athletic ability for his size, and he's a committed defender as well as having the ability to be a secondary ball handler, and is a good 3PT shooter. So it's a good under the radar move if it pans out.

Agreed, part of the problem is having small sized PG's who aren't strict bench players which means they force you to play them more minutes, so you then play them with your starting PG who is already small and you see things like Paul expending energy guarding SG's in the post.

Really hope we can get someone like Livingston, tired or seeing the small PG lineup. I had said it over and over that Bledsoe was perfect to use as a 6th man PG/SG if you don't want to start him, have him take Jamal's role, just balances the roster much better and him and Paul in the backcourt isn't bad because he can actually guard SG's. He plays much bigger than Reggie for example.

West is also a good option, he has the length and athletic ability to actually play two positions, but most importantly he brings the consistency of defense.
