Gives Doc a lot of power. Him and Pop are almost equal. Means Doc can do a lot of pulling for players he wants. Also assures he stays for a while. Good Move by Clips.....

Good move. This does gives Doc not just more of a say among the organization, but also gives the impression that while the team is in transition he is the of the franchise. This should make acquisitions and trades easier since players know they will be playing for Doc.

Who's Dave Wohl and is he any good? I feel like we have a new GM every year, LOL.

I wonder, with Doc having such a high place in this organization how long will he coach until. I don't think we will see much more of him as our coach. My thought is that he appoints someone as coach and just focuses on personnel decisions.

Even in 3 or 4 years when Doc decides to wrap it up, with him at Pres of BBall Ops, the team will be in good hands. He will still have that Riley type affect on the franchise and that is a good thing

Next step for Doc. Signing Ettore Messina as Assistant Coach??

I would love to keep Ty Lue and prep him to be our future Head Coach, but I think he'll get a Head Coaching job from another team sooner rather than later.

Seems like the classier, more professional version of the lakers' "STAY" billboards... except that by accepting the position, it seems like Doc has already agreed to stay.

Shrewd move by whomever is signing Doc's check... Parsons? Silver? IDGAF... all seems well.

Doc has not been a good GM so far. Getting rid of bledsoe for Jared Dudley? really, that is one of the worst moves in the history of sports. He also wanted DJ for Garnett, another terrible move. I hope he can make better decisions.

Why does everyone always ignore the fact that we got Redick out of the Bledsoe trade?

Doc hasn't been good or bad as a GM so far, I'll give him more time to see what he does. Interested to see what he does this off-season.

As long as he doesn't bring any more Celtic players, I can live with that.

Aside from Avery Bradley.

I'd take Olynyk as a project... not that Boston are letting him go or anything, but if Ainge called wanting a swap for Bullock plus Dudley's millstone of a contract, I'd sure pick up the phone. Very Happy

That would be awesome if we have runner up for GM of the year with 3 different people in 4 years.

Repped High Quality Post

Do people forget what was Neil first move as GM? Sign Ryan Gomes, Randy Foye, and the legend Brian Cook

notworthy

"The legend Brian Cook"... Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16

Thank you Professor for the history lesson.

Is there any way you could hold a class to educate our newer fans, please?

(p.s. I did think that Foye was pretty good value... but DAMN, that was a disappointing summer!)

I don't think Doc had anything to do with DJ for Garnett. In fact the DJ for Garnett talks were going on at the same time talks for Doc for the 1st round pick were going on.

Exactly. Most of the great coaches eventually want to transition into that role. Doc has done very well in his entirety when you think of it.
