Being reported on Twitter. Wow... going to a rival. Traitor. He was the mastermind of our motion offense. Good news is Lawrence Frank will likely fill in and is an elite assistant coach himself. So we shouldn't have a drop off much. Plus the guys already know the system a bit now..

Marc spears suggesting not official

It's not actually official, a GSW writer jumped the gun from the looks of things.

^^^ figured it was BS , because that was the only guy that reported it. I do not see him just jumping ship like that. Hell Ballmer could offer him a good bit if he wanted

I'm pretty sure Doc & the players know Gentry's plays after a full season, so it may be a good thing to be able to use some of Gentry's offense and add whatever Frank has to offer...

Whether or not they jumped the gun, I have a feeling it will happen.

Do you think Lionell Hollins would accept the role of being an assistant coach for the Clippers? I think he can do as much as Gentry did on offense for us, but on defense instead.

Its smart for him. He goes in to back up Kerr, Who's never coached before. So if Kerr blows it and they fire him, they still have alvin as a replacement. Its a smart move for Alvin since Doc is definitely not getting fired

That actually makes a ton of sense.

He's an offensive coach, so I see how he views the potential of the splash brothers and the Human Torch butchering opposing defenses. Problem with that is Great defense with a lil offense always beats Great offense with lil defense.

That reminds me of one of the few things Vinny did that I liked - when, during media day in his last year here, he asked Arash if he was done kissing the Lakers' asses yet.

I want him to stay, our offense was amazing best in the league or at least top 3, PS it's the summer what is he working?

At least Vinny showed some pride for the team. I wish Doc would done more of that and show more pride for the Clips.

Draft workouts and stuff of that nature. Possibly working with Blake and other players. Looking at film. His job isn't just in the regular season

Like what? Appointing himself as President of Basketball Operations? That would show some major Clippers pride.

I think you should have you wished Doc kinda stopped to younger brother type approach to the Clippers. I mean I guess becoming GM and then Pres. Of BBall Ops and then covering up Laker Banners....

i can see this and it would be a total normal move. The guy coached for Ker on the Suns so they probably are friends and comfortable with each other. I don't wish to loose him but i understand.

Mike Woodson would be a terrible hire. Goodbye ball movement and motion offense, hello isos every possession. Our offense would go down the toilet and we'd be one of the easiest teams to guard. Really hope it's not true.

Go after Ettore Messina since it's unclear whether he's actually going to be hired by the Spurs. Anybody but Woodson, really.

Also probably shoots our chances of grabbing Melo

You think we're gonna have isos with DOc Rivers running the show? We're gonna see a floppy set opening up Reddick who throws it to CP3 in horns that turn to a loop for Reddick into a sideline pick and roll to have a weakside screen opening up flaring Melo for a corner 3, drive down the baseline with options of hitting Melo in the corner for the 3 lobbing to DJ and Griffin or BOTH of them dunking it home for the Dunk Of the Year.

And that's IF they cover our floppy set, and proceed to defend against horns. That's a big IF!

You clearly haven't seen what Mike Woodson considers offense.

It'd be more like iso CP3, iso Melo, iso Blake, repeat.

It's also not good that we are losing out on someone due to $$$. It's a sign of things to come until ballmer is in place. Anyone expecting a big offseason is deluded

Frank and especially Woodson bring nothing to the table. Nothing. I have been a gentry fan and just hate that he left for a sideways move with our rival. Steve Kerr is making me sad

I think they were head coaches for a reason, you forget how good knicks were last season in 2013, They couldn't handle a head coaching position so I don't see a problem with them being simply assistants where they just focus on one thing, I trust Doc he knows what people are smart and not, whatever he decides I'll back...

JQuick32

I don't think it's money that caused him to move, more just a bigger role and getting to work with Kerr again. He was already getting paid top-dollar by assistants' standards.

It's hilarious how their fans try to claim we're "overrated," "just dunk," "product of flopping/refs," etc. yet their organization is so thirsty for anything Clipper-related.

Okay, you are right. He did show some pride by covering the Lakers banner. That one I give props.

Also,

F*** you Gentry. Don't come back crawling when you get fired again.

If it's that easy to leave the Clippers team and Doc, then good riddance to Alvin Gentry, lol.

There is no one from the warriors I would want to poach. I just hate that he will institute our offense up there but they have better three point shooting, which will make it deadlier. And he knows inside secrets

The report does also say they are paying him double, so I don't doubt it was a factor to some degree at least There is no one from the warriors I would want to poach. Yea, Woodson is actually a slow paced iso coach, but he actually does have decent ability in developing a defense (most of the time). I can't imagine anyone getting Woodson to be an offensive coach though, so that wouldn't be the purpose in getting him.

Billups will be taking Lue's role, probably a learning and developing his coaching skills role while being with guys he's comfortable with if it is to happen

Doc's been coaching in this league a long time. He knows coaches get moved and traded to other teams, then try and tell them there prior teams secrets. Doc's a genious and a professional. And I trust every decision he makes for the Clippers. Me personally, i would like Lionell Hollins or Mark Jackson to be our associated head coach. That would put a smack back in GSW face! Lol!

Coaching Staff: Doc Rivers (master mind)

Lionell Hollins (defense)

Mark Jackson (offense with doc's help)

Tyron Lue (developer of players)

I'm a huge Billups fan (as you can see in my name), but his heart belongs in Detroit and I think he should become an assistant/head coach over there. Oh, and whoever says no to Billups underestimates how well of a coach he is going to be in the future.

I think Hollins would be an excellent assistant coach because the Grizzles were a thorn in our side while he was coaching. Also, he didn't get fired for not making the playoffs, he was fired because they didn't go to the finals. The Knicks coach had a losing season regardless for the reasons, he should stay in the East. Hate to see Gentry leave but if it's all about the money not loyalty and getting a ring. BYE.

What's with the Mark Jackson love, I can't seem to figure out exactly what he brings as an assistant to be honest.
