Not a fan of Henderson as a starter, especially at the SF spot. If we are getting rid of Jamal I'd rather just throw in Barnes and a 1st round pick for a Lance Stephenson S&T. They are both only 6'5", but Lance is way more capable of guarding big SF's like LeBron. I say let's go full throttle of we are gonna trade Jamal.
Charlotte is $23M under the cap, so they actually have the money to get Stephenson, so Indiana would sign and trade as a consolation to not lose him for nothing while we would have to kind of grovel....

Lower defensive rating = better, not higher, so Iguodala's is actually much better. With that said, individual defensive rating numbers don't really tell us much about a players defense except that the better their's is, the better their team is at defense, and the more defensive rebounds, steals and blocks they get. Better off checking on/off defensive rating at least as a starting point.

Unfortunately defensive saber-metrics are lagging behind the offensive numbers. Ways away yet from getting true meaningful info.

Hopefully sooner the later.

If you're only going to judge by their guns, the mailman looked like he could still win another MVP at all-star weekend.

Not sure if it has been discussed but What do u guys think of offering Metta a vets minimum contract. Not sure if he would take the minimum but He can still defend at an above average skill, he would brings us some grit and toughness, loves LA and in the past has expressed his interest in signing with the Clippers. Don't think it would completely solve our SF issue but I think he would be an upgrade to Barnes and Dudley...you could also play him at the 4 as well.

I believe a motivated, focused 35 yr old Metta could still help this team with some solid D minutes. Last year he suffered through 2 deaths of family members which would derail just about anyone. Definitely he would not be the answer by any means but if we're giving Delonte West a look we should definitely give Metta a look. The guy is always in shape and plays tough when he is focused and playing around winners. We definitely will not be getting anyone of substance at this point with our finances but I guess we can always wait until training camp to see who gets released. I'm not too worried with our current squad to start the season anyways.

There is only one remotely capable SF still left out there and that is Evan Turner. That is basically our very last option on landing someone via free agency as everything else would require trades with the involvement of DJ and or Crawford. Right now I would go after Turner as he can play multiple positions and try to do a sign and trade with Crawford and Dudley involved.

Turner was renounced by Indiana, so he would need to take the minimum

Good gamble for a minimum. Off topic but I am liking what MJ has done with Hornets. If they're able to get boozer to add with Jefferson then we might see the best scoring starters in the league. Dunno about playing defense though lol

Actually I might have been wrong, don't think he was renounced, and that's not a gamble at the minimum, that's a steal. I'm aware of the guys flaws and fit issues, but he's still a better player than a minimum contract, not even a chance that happens.

Just a funny thing I noticed. I think it is interesting that people always say MJ when talking about Charlotte's moves, and while he is the owner, he isn't the GM, sure he approves moves, but he isn't the one going out and making all the moves or picks etc that they make, he does let Cho do his job.

Wolves and Celtics are looking at him. If Wolves can't move Love, makes sense, they need an on ball guy off the bench, or to start at SF I guess, and while Turner isn't the most effective, you have to compare to what they currently have.

Why would he need to take the minimum? He is free to sign for whatever he wants if he's been renounced. It just means the Pacers no longer hold his bird rights. Am I missing something?

Big Al averaged 22 & 11 last season and would absolutely demolish the Cavs front line.

With the addition of Lance Stephenson it will be possible for Kemba to play more off the ball where he really excels. They also probably have the best wing defender combo in the league with Lance, MKG, Marvin and Henderson. They got two really good rookies in Vonleh and Hairston.

Steve Clifford's defensive system is almost on par with Thibs'.

They've added Defense AND Scoring to a team that was already an elite defensive team.

Cavs have a lot of flaws in their team. The Bulls are probably better IF D Rose comes back 100% which is a big "if"

The Hornets are the most balanced team in the East.

I think the key is someone like Boozer. Another veteran present to mentor Walker and keep Stephenson in line. They should look at Drew Gooden as well if he isn't under contract.

Jovan Buha @jovanbuha about 1 hour ago

Just remembered Evan Turner hasn't been signed yet. Don't see how he gets anything significant. What's his market value? The minimum? BAE?

Not high on him, but for the minimum?! Backup plan for if Dudley is still out of shape or if we have injuries...

Didn't the Pacers trade for Turner just in case Stephenson left in free agency?

I can't imagine they'd let Granger, Stephenson and Turner leave for nothing.

Evan Turner would be a great pick up. Not sure what there isn't to

like. He is way better than Dudley IMO. Outside of 3pt shooting Turner

has been solid his whole although short career.

He is a good rebounder, and an excellent slasher. I'd like him to be an inch or 2 taller,

but I def think he is a good fit.

Can we afford him? Who knows.

Yea, but Turner didn't fit well in Indy... and I hear Indy is pursuing Rodney Stuckey to replace Lance.

Was Evan Turner renounced from Indy? Not that I want to S&T for him, but I just want to know if we actually can.

This could be a good opportunity for us. They may be looking for a big name to replace Lance with, and that may lead them to try and clear some room to make such a move. We could get involved in a three team trade somehow.

From what I'm reading he wasn't renounced, but Indiana signed Stuckey to a one year deal now

http://www.celticsblog.com/2014/7/14/58 ... van-turner

  • The Celtics currently have 17 players on their roster, so adding Evan Turner would have to come in some form of a sign-and-trade. After getting traded to Indiana last spring, Turner played himself out of the Pacers' playoff rotation and Indy opted not to extend him his $8.7M qualifying offer.

They just didn't give him his qualifying offer because they obviously didn't want to pay $8.7M for him if they couldn't come to a contract agreement.

Gotcha! I thought that is what you meant since that's about the only thing we would be able to offer him.

Stuckey is actually an excellent slasher, career 5.3 FTA/36, 37% of his baskets at the rim, career high 7.0 FTA/36 in 11-12. A PG/SG, who an play PG decently in a backup / 6th man role as the playmaker off the bench (career 4.8 assists/36 and career high 6.0 assists/36 in 10-11).

As Indy, since I lost Stephenson, I easily take him over Turner. I think the only thing Turner does better is rebound and be taller, Stuckey from what I've seen and can gather might be better at every other basketball related thing, and neither are going to impress you in a significant way on defense.

Isn't Turner more of a shooting guard than small forward? Either way, I don't see Pacers taking either Dudley or Barnes for him so it doesn't seem likely he will be in a Clipper uniform next season.

Not sure .326 shooting percentage from the 3PT area would it should be considered solid. He's actually a below average shooter for a SF in both FG and 3PT%.

They definitely made some moves that look solid on paper (I think they will pencil in reality also). It will be interesting to see if Zeller or Bismack Biyombo can make some more strides forward.

They might be starting Marvin Williams at PF even, which would be interesting. Essentially he is taking McBob's position.

They do still need a little more shooting. We should attempt to send them Dudley and Bullock for Gerald Henderson now that they got Lance Stephenson, maybe they will accept. Jordan can maintain his love for having UNC guys.
