people are saying that we would trade jamal crawford and barnes for pierce. wtf?! that seems like a heavy price to pay in my opinion (for any of the players we are looking at).

This is good news! At that rate. Its a steal and we can still sign and trade for Deng

Other reports had Doc working a S&T with the Nets for PP. If that is true, I assume it would take some money. Plus, I take that tweet as saying the Clippers are not going to offer much money for him. Doesn't mean PP is going to accept it.

I'll be happy if Clippers does NOT get Pierce. He's a great scorer, but that's it. Plus he's old and can't keep up most of the SFs. I value someone who can shoot down 3 and play lock down D instead of one dimensional player.

Pierce would help but ultimately I think it depends on how much we have to pay for him.

Does Pierce really have the balls to deny our BAE to spend his last few years with the Nets?

He could've stayed on the Celtics if he didn't think winning was everything.

Come home Paul.....but only if we can't get Deng.

I wouldn't want to give up Crawford at all for PP. I love PP a lot and I think he can start and give us a solid 25-32 MPG but I don't think tossing around a big name like Crawford is worth it. Crawford is explosive and will be explosive for another 3 seasons at least. If we can work a deal out to send some of our lesser guys there then so be it. I do believe we can sign him outright though

If given the choice it may be Clippers or retire.

As a Clippers fan that likes the Celtics (Wouldn't classify myself as a fan of them though), I think it's best that Pierce signs with the C's for one last year and retires over there. We should just stick to getting Deng.

I completely agree. It just didn't seem right to me seeing Pierce in another jersey, let alone one in the same division. He deserves to retire as a Celtic.

3 seasons is a lot, he'll be 37 years old, possible, but not easy

I don't u understand how people on here can be against pp but want us to sign the Marvin Williams and wanted sefalosha b4 he signed with the hawks. Pp at 37 is way better than both of them and we should b able to get them for same value smh

Seems like Pierce's price might be higher, don't think anyone would take them over him at the same price. Those are consolation type players.

If we keep thinking of trading for pierce that means pierce wants more money and not willing to accept the minimum

Don't think the minimum is going to get it done. He'll get much more then that: King said he spoke with Pierce's agent, Jeff Schwartz, on Thursday, and the two sides are in negotiations. The Nets, sources said, would like to re-sign Pierce to a short-term deal worth between $6 million and $8 million per season. Pierce made $15.3 million last season. "I think we're in the process," King said. "We know the number we want to get to, I think....

Player A.) Per 36: 15.9pts/5.3reb/3.9ast/1.1stl 47%FG, 37%3PT

Player B.) Per 36: 17.3pts/6.0reb/3.1ast/1.5stl 45%FG, 37%3PT

Now tell me, which player is Paul Pierce and which one is Chandler Parsons?

Minimum? This dudes worth $7-8mil. It's a matter of how much of a paycut he's willing to take.

It is clear second is Pierce, but I've looked at his per minute numbers already. You are right, that is about what Manu makes and they give you similar skills at their age. I don't know why people think as soon as a player gets to a certain age they must get no money. Pierce for example is clearly a better and more impacful player even at his age than guys like Collison, Jodie Meeks, etc, and they are getting $4-5M contracts and Pierce should accept the minimum?

If he accepts the minimum it would be as a favor, not because that is his value.

Let's look at another per 36, Vince Carter:

17.6 pts / 5.2 rebs / 3.9 ast / 1.1 stl / 40.7% FG / 39.4% 3PT and he made $3.18M last season, so contract wise there's a decent deal to be had. Then there is also Marion out there, though he made $9.3M last season, but there are some good options for older guys that can be gotten for cheaper prices vs production. As long as you have a good complimentary player where you aren't solely relying on the older guy.

I'd take Marion and/or Carter in a heart beat. Both can play multiple positions and are fighting off Father Time very nicely.

Also I've mentioned it before, if we can fill our weak areas with Veterans on 1yr deals Ballmer can pull out his checkbook in the summer and sign a player like Marc Gasol, Al Jefferson, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard (SA will match)...etc

Most of those players are unrealistic, but it would be nice to have flexibility.

This still doesn't answer the question of a starting SF. So far we have Matt and Dudley plus no guards.

That Is very misleading paul Pierce is no longer capable of playing 36 mpg if we did that he was fall apart so you can't say his numbers are even with parsons who could actually consistently play that many minutes. Paul Pierce played really just under 30 mpg most of the season and they basically rested him the last 4 weeks to get him ready for the playoffs. We need a guy that can play some an entire season we can't afford another Grant Hill or Chauncey type situation. OR he comes off the bench at a much cheaper price but he is not worth 7-8 million .

I'd be willing to give up a future 1st for Pierce, but only if they take Dudley from us.

We are gonna have Durant in 2016, so draft picks don't mean much to us. Wink

I want nothing to do with Paul Pierce for 10 mil, hell I don't want him for the full MLE. Let him resign with Bkn.

Paul Pierce still has two solid years left in him. He's a good scorer good defender knows the system he's a leader a great addition to the locker room has a championship ring he's clutch during crunch time good free throw shooter he's worth the full midlevel the clippers would sign him in a heart beat if they knew they could get him fir that much. He Is not Great no more but he is still the TRUTH!

Because we're tring to sign some salary cap to be able to trade for Pierce. We can't just take on his contract worth up to 5-10 million. We need them to take Dudley or Crawford off our hands

Well the truth can stay in Brooklyn! If we are talking 10 mil, there should be something that can be done for Deng or Ariza at that price range. If we are talking the full MLE, then I'd prefer PJ Tucker to Pierce.

We are talking about not only giving him money, but very likely giving up players and/or picks for Pierce. I don't want to give him money for the sake of giving him money. I'd rather throw multiple players with potential at the position then just giving Pierce money for his rep.

Brandon Rush

Wes Johnson

Chris Douglas-Roberts

Jordan Hamilton

Darius Miller

give these guys camp invites and hope we find our small forward versions of Danny Green or Patty Mills.

We don't know they are injured. Could be used in a trade and just keeping out of the summer league instead of trading them while they are in the summer league

Paul Pierce confirmed on Thursday that he has been contacted by his former coach Doc Rivers about joining the Clippers.

Pierce also mentioned that the free agency process will move quicker once LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony make their decisions. The two top suitors for Pierce appear to be the Nets and the Clippers, but more teams will likely be added to the mix once the top-tier free agents sign with teams. Pierce said that he will like to play for two more years, but added that he has "no idea where I'll be going next year."

So by my calculations. If Pierce were to bet his entire $1.7mil vet minimum in poker. He would make $8.5mil with the rate he's going.

Problem solved.

I keep wanting less and less to do with Paul Pierce. If I remember correctly he struggled early on last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if he does it again this year. He's always on the pudgy side. I wouldn't be surprised if he is overweight at the beginning of the season and it's Duds all over but at 9 mil. Not to mention he is from here, so going back home you are going to hang out with family and friends. You can't avoid hanging out and going out for dinner and drinks. I think this affected Duds who is from San Diego, isn't Pierce from Inglewood.

For the min, I thought this guy could be hungry to get another ring. For the money he wants I think he overvalues his abilities. I know the guy has good stats, but I just don't see it when I watch him anymore. I saw more from Joe Johnson than him.
