I think that is plain stupid of him. I wonder if the league can reprimand him for that.

Not necessarily true. I think this falls under "hurting the brand". If this becomes big, it can come back to bite him.

This seems like the most indulgent vacation ever when he could be here working on his free throws so he doesn't humiliate himself every game.

For a first violation and no prior off the court incidents I doubt this gets any big attention. Top of that the Sterling saga is the brand nothing more clipper than that going on.

Also, if he's not a regular smoker then within the week this will be out of his system. Keep vacationing big fella

For a guy who is questioned about his IQ, smoking trees isn't helping the situation any. Jered, DJ has every right to enjoy himself but when he's doing something that is against league policy, it's just stupid. Bet BG and CP3 aren't "enjoying" themselves that way. Just look at the company he's with and that tells you all you need to know.

Wrong, weed stays in your system up to a month.

I think weed should be legal, but this just shows how immature DJ still is. Wake up, man, the league policy applies no matter where you are in the world! Even more wary of giving this guy another big contract next offseason now.

Let's all over react. There aren't any pictures of him actually smoking, and no proof that it is actually weed. If he ends up getting suspended or has a some type of issues due to this then I'd be on board; but he might be rolling his own cigarette (or at least he can claim as much if he doesn't pop).

I'm more worried about not getting a good small forward or back up big than this.

Nope. If you just smoke one time, and then do a pee test later that week, it won't show up. It's when you have regular or habitual use that it stays in your system for longer, up to 3 months.

Wrong. Even if you smoke a couple of hits for the first time, it stays at least 2 weeks in your system. Especially now with the high-grade stuff out their with massive THC levels. DJ is a smoker, I don't think this is his first time. Going to Amsterdam kinda proves it.

Going to Amsterdam proves you are smoker, maybe it was Big Baby's idea. It doesn't prove anything. I'm glad you don't work in a court of law (or at least hope you don't). It might not be his first time, it might be, unless you actually know the guy or you where there you can only assume. He might be blazing it up or just might enjoy rolling his cigarettes. He might be showing Big Baby how he use to do it, or maybe Big Baby just showed him how to do it. The point is we can assume a whole bunch of things and still know nothing about it in the end.

It doesn't look good, but doesn't prove anything. I stated in my last comment that he can claim that he wasn't smoking anything illegal especially if he doesn't pop. I know guys who smoked every once in a while and would get tested all the time and never popped, they drank some stuff from the local smoke shop and came out clean every time. It's not me being nave if you think if he doesn't pop that he wouldn't be able to claim that it was a cigarette.

Are we mad at him for smoking? Or that it might result in a suspension and hurt the team?

Personally I don't give a damn if the most athletic center in the NBA wants to puff a little on the side. Chances are he's still going to be the most athletic center in the NBA regardless. And plus, I don't think a guy with Asthma is smoking regularly.

If he gets suspended then I'm a little mad, but nothing to freak out over. It's just 5 games.

For me, it's just about the person he is. This adds to his character flaws. If it was you or I smoking on the side, I could care less. I work for myself and I have only myself worry about. DJ is playing a pro sport where he is prohibited from using drugs. They get tested in the off-season too. Does he also get a pass on this too? Remarkable how this guy gets so much passes around here. We have a Josh Howard now.

I'm with CapsNClips on this one. Only if it affects the team will this upset me. Is it that we have had a lot of bad experiences with TMZ, that when they report we jump out of our shoes.

Would I rather him be in some gym working out all year, yeah, but I can't be mad at the guy for having some R&R.

I'm glad I don't work in the court of law either but then again, I am entitled to my own opinion. Let me ask you a serious question:

looking at those pics, judging by your past experiences (either yours, or through observation), what do you think he was doing? Was he rolling cigarettes? Or was he rolling a joint? Forget what he can say, forget trying to be a lawyer, cause you're not. What do you think he's doing in those pics. Be honest. I surmise 90% of people that see those pics will easily say that was weed he was rolling and smoking. The other 10% will deny it and try and play internet lawyer.

Did you pass judgement on DTS as nicely as you defend DJ? I am asking cause you brought up this court of law stuff. I call it like i see it. I'm consistent. Have you been?

I used to hate DJ and thought he was the laziest piece of trash on the planet...until he started producing on the court.

In the world of sports you can kill dogs, get DUI's, beat women and still be seen as role models because they can play a sport better than most people. It's disgusting, but that's how it is.

I hate all of those players that do the things I listed, but what DJ did only harms himself and I'll be honest, since he's actually producing on the court I'm willing to give him a pass.

Not to mention that DJ's never missed a game in his NBA career, so when the league suspends him for a couple of games it's going to hurt him that much more and possibly put his a*s into gear.

Good argument to say the least. But for the most part, those examples don't pertain, or it didn't effect me cause I wasn't rooting for their teams. I had no vested interest. This is different cause it effects me directly. I also don't by "the lesser of two evils" to kinda brush this under the rug either. Or using " the guy has improved so he gets a pass". As it is, there is a cloud still hoovering over this team and the last thing we need is adding insult to injury. you think CP3 and BG will have nonchalant view of this? I hope not. I hope they come down on his ass about drawing more bad publicity to this already hurt club.

Here is a link to a couple more pics that makes it a little more conclusive, have to say yes he is for sure taking a puff of some good sensimilla

http://network.yardbarker.com/nba/artic ... d_16776343

Quite honestly can't really blame the guy, we forget for the most part these NBA stars are really kids or very young adults & the standards they are held to are a bit ridiculous at times. I would estimate that 50% of the NBA players engage in the chronic at times. The fact he is out in public for the world to see is what I have the problem with, you know this will get back to Doc and he will be having a stern talking to DJ when he gets back stateside.

I don't know how smoking weed is a character flaw haha. It's on par with drinking alcohol. He's an adult who can make his own decisions, and in the next 5 years it will probably be legal in half of this country.

This shouldn't even be an "off the court" issue.

Smoking weed is not a character flaw.

Violating NBA rules and being dumb enough to get photographed doing it, on the other hand?

DJ, Barnes, and Big baby can start their smoking crew now. All they need now is to get two more players and they can start their own team. Lob City just died. Watch us now be called, "Lit City". Not in a good way either.

Have fun DJ but, come on you have to be more careful. Btw I thought Blake was with them? It would've been a bigger news if Blake got caught rolling a joint.

I insinuated that it probably is weed, but as long as he doesn't pop on a piss test he can claim whatever he wants to keep him from being suspended. You said being in Amsterdam proves that it is weed, and it very likely is but being Amsterdam proves nothing.

As far as DTS, I wanted him out way before any of the tape recordings came out. I don't really think the comments were enough unless players don't want to play for him. That is a different issue. I've wanted Sterling out way before that, and it had to do more with the track record and history. The tape recordings were just the tool to get him out.

So why all this towards DJ and not the same towards Barnes? If consistency is the question, Matt is a 30 something old veteran. DJ is 25 going on 26 and all I hear is how DJ has huge character flaws. The thing is we know what to expect from Barnes and somehow expect DJ to be like Blake. He's not, but as long as he continues to improve and show a good effort and production on the floor it's working for him.

I'm a Clipper fan, and I said if this has no effect on what we put out on the court then I could care less if he puffs a bit on the side. I have friends that smoke on occasion that have great jobs, are great people and I don't sit around judging them for doing it so why am I going to judge this guy on non basketball related things. If he get's suspended or something along those lines then it's an issue.

Still just circumstantial evidence. A picture proves nothing unless it's proven via testing, so the league better get over to Amsterdam fast and have him pee in cup, lol.

Do I "think" he's rolling a joint...probably. But that doesn't guarantee he is.

By the way, just got back from the Bicycle City. Very beautiful and serene. Lot's of nice "cafs" too.Smile

they don't need to. All they have to do is test them before 1-2 weeks and it should come up positive. All someone has to do is present the pics to Silver and he can have his people contact the players to come in for a random test. Analyze a picture? You think they'd actually do that?

The most shocking thing about the picture to me is that it looks like Big Baby stole CJ's sweatshirt and he's stretching it all out. That might be why it's bothering him so much.

Ahhhh...The infamous "make it personal" post. I think it's just stupid to find that 4 of our players (some ex-players) are caught breaking the NBA rules together. Maybe you're just too naive to know how that makes this team look. Like i said, i am consistent when it comes to stuff like this ( DTS, this) so my outrage is equal opportunity. I'm not selective like some of you guys.

All in all, it's not a huge deal, but this is kind of disheartening with DJ in particular. Barnes and Big Baby have always been idiots, they're not going to change at their age, and there's a reason they're journeymen. DJ, on the other hand, was supposed to be newly mature, got a fat contract before he had earned it, and was being paraded around as a member of our "Big Three" with comparisons to Bill Russell. Despite that, he's never done anything in the playoffs against teams that weren't missing their starting center, his free throw shooting is the joke of the league, and he apparently spends his offseasons breaking NBA rules in full view of cameras. And he now wants big money from us again next offseason? Screw that!
