Farmar played on a horrible team when he was healthy. Unhealthy 2 seasons in a row is a bad trend no matter what his stats were. As far as teams looking to sign him, his own words pretty much sums it up: Looks like he was waiting on the Lakers when he realized the Lakers weren't giving him the time of day.
Also, those numbers are a little misleading considering the team he was playing on. The Lakers were down so many guards that they gave Farmar the second highest MPG last year of his career. His upside is....

Not a bad pickup to replace Collison. We've added some good shooters in the last 2 days. Like how the roster is starting to shape up.

what i like about this signing is the competitive edge Jordan Farmar gives. from what i've observed from the times i've watched the Lakers play to lose is Farmar's aggressive nature. He shows fight.

After watching the spurs dismantle teams i've realized its really not about the size of the ship but the motion of the ocean lol. Patty mills, boris diaw, and danny green were nobodies for a while. Then came on the spurs and magically revived their career? No its great coaching and putting at their best spots in order to succeed

was just thinkin' back to how Earvin won the championship for the Lakes w/Kareem out.... playing center for the Big Fella.... half court Laker offense was the sky hook.... Byron had a decent J as well, and they usually had someone at the forward spot who could hit/drain the mid range shot.... know where you're coming from on that, and.... the Lakes weren't all bad in their half court O, it was just overshadowed some by Showtime....

still in favor of signing Delonte if he pans out in Summer League and camp.... my guy @pg was $e$$ion$, which I'm guessing was a bit too pricey for our liking, and.... can't underestimate the import of a backup pg w/CP3 on your roster.... hopefully Farmar will be an addition along the lines of what Barnes was for us.... Barnes needs someone to replace Bledsoe's energy on the second unit.

Good signing One more important piece. Who is our SF? Last year we had a bunch of journeymen manning the spot and that wasn't good enough.

I hate this quote from farmar:

"I'm sure it's going to probably be pretty different for me, but we'll see," Farmar said about playing for the opposite side of the budding L.A. rivalry. "Hopefully my real fans, they don't have to cheer for the Clippers, but support me wherever I go and that's all it is. I'll always have a special place for the Lakers in my heart, but it wasn't in the cards for me this time."

Yeah I don't like either. Sounds like he's pretty bitter about coming here. I hope gets over it soon, I don't want him complaining next season about how he's playing for the us and not the Fakers.

This is exactly why I didn't want this prick on our team. Ex Lakers come here as if this was a consolation prize when they can't get resigned by the purple and piss. F##k him.

So we're just going to ignore how he put the Lakers on blast for their pathetic begging of Melo and their lack of a coach or roster? He's hardly been sucking up to the Lakers.

**** this signing. Farmar grew up in LA went to Taft then UCLA and probably always dreamed of playing for the Lakers. In his heart he is always a Laker, which our organization shouldn't want. Pissed.

Sheesh, as long as the guy plays good basketball, all this other stuff is just irrelevant theatrics, who cares.

I'm a bit confused or maybe hoopshype has the salary numbers wrong. They have 8 guys on the roster for 70.2 million. The Lux tax threshold is supposed to be around $77 million. Add the rookie Wilcox and you're just below $71 million. With Hawes at a base of $5 million and Farmar at $2 million, that puts them above the threshold before you fill out the roster.

Here's where I'm confused. I know that you can go as far as $4 million above the tax and still spend the full MLE. That $4 million is known as the apron but I was always under the assumption that you could not spend the small exception, which is what Farmar is getting, if you were a tax team and that the apron wouldn't apply. Or is that wrong and you can spend the small exception as well as long as you're below $81 million?

Why the Overreaction? All he was saying is that he hopes his real fans cheer and support for HIM wherever he goes. They don't have to cheer for the Clippers. Not really a big deal.....

I like the signing, though it's too bad it wasn't for the minimum, and for 2 years instead of 1. Farmar is a good backup PG when he is healthy, but the question is how many games will he miss. If he plays 65+ games, it'd be really nice, but probably wishful thinking.

I expect doc rivers to finish this deal off in a sign and trade with the Lakers using their trade exception from the bledsoe trade, as result it will allow the clippers to keep there bi annual exception

I'll wait to see how he does before i make any real judgements, but i'm cool with it so far. I don't care if he was a former Laker or former ___fill in any NBA team___, just as long as he can contribute positively to our team.

Not sure what kind of PG you guys expect to get with the BAE. Farmar is a quarter of Collison's price, how is that not a bargain? Plus the real areas of need are third big and SF, of which one has been resolved.

If he really want to be a Lakers, why don't he continue wait for them and become a Lakers. If he really dont' want to be with us, then cancel the deal and go away.

I'm gonna like the "going small" line up of CP3 and Farmar at the 1 and 2 better than CP3 and Collison. Collison had so many open corner 3s , just imagine Farmer taking those!

Odom may not have said anything but anyone can see the emotional dive he took from the Lakers tried to trade him. Matter of fact he did talk about how he felt betrayed because the LAKERS felt like home. I remember the after game interviews with Ralph he would talk about how much he loved being a laker.

I can't really knock these guys for having a connection when they won a title(s) but they need to stfu about any laker pride when they sign. Same went for Doc last year with shoving the Celtics stuff.

I wanted Jordan Hill because he didn't win anything with them and there was no connection.

Different scenario. The Lakers traded him and then the deal was nixed. He was hurt that they would trade him and realized he couldn't stay there anymore. He demanded a trade. he also talked bad about the Lakers' FO and lack of loyalty. Odom NEVER said to his fans you don't have to cheer for the clippers, just cheer for me. That is a backhanded insult if ever I saw one. I don't care about Lakers pride or Celtics pride, I care about what they say about the Clippers.

His fans are probably Lakers fans, so they are having cognitive dissonance in cheering for him as a Clipper while being Lakers fans. Guy has been in the area almost his whole life, probably has a good amount of fans who think he betrayed the Lakers or something lol.

Sure, they can cheer for him, and they certainly don't have to become Clippers fans or cheer for the Clippers to do so, that's good for them. I don't really see any issue or insult happening there to be honest, it doesn't seem that serious.

Jordan Farmar is a veteran player who played on championship teams. He can also spread the floor with his shooting and doesn't play outside his ability. This is a good pickup by the Clippers.

It seems people here hate the Lakers more than they like the Clippers.

We are "sensitive" to certain things for a good reason. While I appreciate Jordan's talent and realize that his acquisition slightly lessens the loss of Collison I would prefer to have gotten a player not affiliated with that organization. Still, these days we can at least take joy in the fact that the tables have turned and the Lakers are....

Sorry but it wasn't deserved at all. You don't see us ripping on Cavs fans or magic fan recently. It's that I'm better than you attitude that lakers fans had that clippers fans hated. The laker players talked crap about the clippers the fans everyone. If you think it was the right thing to do... Well enough said right there

As always CB24 great post. The Clippers fans did not deserve all that we had been given. For years we have been loyal, and such devotion should be acknowledged and commended not ridiculed in the Mason and Ireland way.

This was a smart move by the Clippers for Farmar replaces

Collison production at a decent price.

It seems the second team has really improved with the addition

of Farmar and Hawes added to the potent Crawford.

Think your confidence might take a hit on that one. See shooting from distance stats.

Still think it's a fairly good signing though.

If he can average 7 points 3 assists and 1 steal in about 15-17 MPG he will be a great pickup for the price. He is a sniper, a superb 3-point shooter. Like his game, I think it will mesh nicely with this team's play-style.
