Caps the least you can do is not insult my basketball watching skills by saying I don't know the difference between a fast break and set half court offense. I am not talking about fast breaks at all but actuall ball movement in he half court setting, not draining the clock and then forcing a shot. But letting the ball movement free up players. Also teams can win series with Iso and all that fun stuff but usually not championships.
Are you implying that Chris drained the clock and forced us to take bad shots at the end of....

magics lakers were a very good defensive team..thats where the fast breaks started from...defense,

if the clips get better at defense the same will happen...lob city Smile

need a better defense..

lets start with a small forward who can defend...and a defensive back up point guard...

The Lakers half court offense consisted of dumping the ball to Kareem. While they were a fast break team, they milked Kareem a LOT in a half-court set. You also had Wilkes sitting on the corners with Worthy working his post game. The guy was also a great post up player.

As a defensive PG if we keep Jamal. I like Toney Douglas. Like someone said, to bad he got sniped. Good D against Paul. I like douglas a lot and have mentioned him before. He just has....

Techically you can be mediocre on defense but good at getting steals and be able to run out on the break a lot.

Kyle I think that's a bit excessive to say Lebron was using countless possessions poorly. I think sometimes people forget that every team has poor offensive possessions, even the Spurs, even the SSOL Suns.

It's like how there were people implying that Paul was consistently overdribblijg and wasting clock and taking too long (which btw was counter to our teams actual shot clock usage stats) when we were a top team in pace when he was on the floor and were the leagues best and most efficient offense. Perception isn't reality, and of course that is probably just confirmation bias for someone who has already detemined that CP does that, not actually making a factual conclusoon, so something that hapens minimally is extraoplated as the common occurrence. Might also be a case of expectations of what a fluid offense looks like vs the reality of it.

I agree about Toney Douglas, not a true playmaker, but he's decent at protecting the ball, he can defend, has good size, and despite his shot being down recently, he's not a bad shooter. He was a guy in was thinking we would get last season before Collision took the pay cut.

Agreed Agent, but LeBron did it frequently , but with his teammates its understandable. How can many critique Chris for "over-dribbling" when Tony Parker, the point guard of the best-offense in the NBA dribbled a....

take a shot? he jabbed stepped out the clock and then passed most of the time in the finals.

Disclaimer: using a bit of hyperbole for those that take what I said literally.

I think Douglas hasn't stuck because he's a 6'2 off ball PG who doesn't have the size for SG or the game for PG. He doesn't have the isolation and creating abilities at PG, but he is safe with the ball and doesn't have the size to play SG or good enough scoring ability for a team to try him there so he's stuck in between.

He's best paired next to a big playmaker. Which aren't too many.

If we are looking for a young/big defensive PG who can play both PG and SG and can shoot we need to be looking at Toure Murry. I know I've said it 1000 times, but he's really a great option for this ball club and can actually play along side CP unlike Darren.

Trade has to be in place. We gave Farmar more than the minimum , and used our BAE and MLE on Hawes "CURRENTLY"

Guys he's a better signing than you think. 10/5/2 last year on 44 percent shooting from deep. Back up PG when you the talent this team does isn't a huge concern.

Gonna need a 3rd string PG since Farmar and CP3 are almost guaranteed to miss games due to injury

I have always been a farmar hater but mainly because he was on the fakers. Reality is he should be a very solid addition and I really like that 3 point shooting.

I still hate him for that game winner he killed us on in NJ like two years ago. I talked to a few Lakers fans and they said Farmar was one of the few bright spots for the team last year Smile.

The Lakers PG rotation last year was filled with really good backup PG's. None are good enough to be legit starters, but Bazemore, Marshall, Blake and Farmar are like the cream of the crop for backup PG's.

Hahahaha. Jordan Farmar giving a thug life speech to teammates in high school. This team definitely needs more toughness and heart and he plays hard.

Farmar is worth $2M, remember that Collison was taking a paycut last year, so don't be fooled into thinking that was his value.

Farmar can shoot the three quite well and is a high volume 3PT shooter, better 3PT shooter than Collison. He's a career 37.5% / 5.6 3PA per 36. He's a decent passer, below average defender who is good in the passing lanes, pretty decent scorer and can get to the rim decently and fnish (26% of FGA and 57.5% for career). Career 14.4 pts/36 and 17.0 pts/36 over his last 2 seasons / 80 games on .561 TS%. Also averaged 7.1 assists per 36 since he's been out of the triangle, though of course with 3.1 tov/36.

I would occasionally watch a Laker game for the laughs and I was surprised how good Farmar was. He looked like his BBall I.Q. had jumped up quite a bit from the last time he was in the NBA.

I'm very happy with this signing.

Yup. The biggest thing I heard is that his maturity/IQ was much higher after Europe or wherever he played overseas. Doc is starting to make me eat crow little by little with Hawes+Farmar. Now if the team can get an upgrade at SF and a minimum SG who can defend like Deshawn Stephenson, our offseason will be mostly complete roster wise. Then the team can focus on removing Sterling and hiring the 3 assistant coaches.

Yup, we're sticking to signing white free agents only lmfao. Damn you Sterling!

So the last piece of the puzzle is SF, then another big man after that.

Thaddeus Young! Since the Deng and Ariza stuff isn't really falling into place, we should get Young, fits on this team in a lot of different ways. Of course we'll have to give up Jamal and Barnes and probably a 2017 1st (or maybe even not), and we can also ask for Tony Wrotten.

Oh, and for the mandatory YouTube video:

..oh, and clearly Doc signed him because of this:

He's saying what most pro athletes think but don't have the balls to say. I don't care why he's here as long as he performs and plays his heart out while wearing the uniform. Doc will focus him on winning.

Disappointing that we got him. He drew no attention from any team and we gave him 2 million? Plus, the guy has averaged 40 games a season the last two seasons he's played in the NBA. Horrible signing.

Someone needs to change the title of this thread.

Edit:

scratch that. 11-12 season was a shortened season due to lockout. Still, he played 39 games out of 66 games.

Don't be so down, maybe he stays healthy for us. He's a superior volume and efficiency 3PT shooter to Darren. He's a similar level scorer, similar level passer, probably a little worse defensively but good in passing lanes. Honestly if he's healthy, there's no appreciable difference.

In those last 80 games he's played he's also shot 43.6% on 285 3PA, 3.6 attempts per game in only 21.8 mins.

...and of course you know that just because it wasn't reported doesn't mean no one else was going after him. Seems like he wanted to stay in LA making his primary choices us or the Lakers. $2M on a 2 year contract is nothing at all. Byron Mullens can make $1M in this league.

As long as he doesn't miss half the season, he isn't bad. Last two seasons (with the overseas campaign sandwiched in between) in the NBA have been poor health wise, but before that he played 72/82/65/82 and 73 games, so seems like it is possible for him to stay healthy.

In the $2M range we're talking about guys like Toney Douglas etc without anyone take Collison type pay cuts.

I compeltly discount that Lakers season as far as injuries. For me, their entire teams was injured and stayed that way. Shows really on training staff. We were fairly healthy this year. Barnes stayed banged up....

Not a bad signing, considering what other players signed for so far. I mean Jodie Meeks got 3 years, 19M, and we got Farmar for2 years, 4.2M. Other guards that we wanted for the back-up position got mid-level deals (Livingston and Collison each got 3 years, 16M).
