When, not if, Ballmer finally takes over, I think one of two things needs to happen with regard to the clippers players team health department. Either we double the staff AND upgrade Jason's knowledge with....

If I'm Ballmer, I just back up the Brinks truck outside of the entire Suns medical staff's houses.

Phoenix's staff couldn't help Bledsoe. In Phoenix, he missed the most games in one season. So one can say that that he was much healthier with our training staff if we want to look at it this black and white. Training staff are not miracle workers. They don't prevent injuries, they just help prepare you, and help you recover.

I think the weather in Phx is a significant factor in the health there as well...

No medical staff is perfect, but the Suns staff is routinely proven to be the best at treating injuries, protecting injury-prone players from having further injury problems, taking preventative measures to stop injuries from getting worse, and using the newest and most advanced science and technology available. They worked miracles with Nash and Grant Hill. Especially Nash - Phoenix was able to milk everything they could out of his bad back, then he fell apart physically almost immediately after joining the Lakers.

I'm sorry, but did Jasen Powell pop Chris Paul's shoulder out? Or deck JJ Redick in mid air? Or tear Matt Barnes' retina?

All of those injurys have absolutely zero to do with Jasen Powell. He did an amazing job and got JJ back playing in the playoffs when it was unlikely that would happen. Matt Barnes was only out for like 4 weeks and then came back injury free for the rest of the season despite a few hand injurys that didn't cause him to miss any games. And Chris Paul went into the playoffs with a fresh shoulder and although he gained a few ailment during the playoffs Jasen Powell was magical enough to get him to play through them and he played some of the best basketball of his career.

How about we stop looking for the next person to blame if things go wrong??? I know it might sound absolutely insane to think **** just happens, but guess what. It does.

Jasen Powell should get a raise for his performance last season.

Please delete this thread. This is a stupid thread. I have no ties to Jason Powell but here is this:

Anybody saying he needs to use the same methodology as the Phoenix Suns training staff clearly don't know what they're talking about. Jason is a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). The Phoenix Suns head Physical Therapist is Michael Clark, Founder and creator of the NASM-OPT model that the whole Suns training staff uses on a week to week basis. Anyways, Powell is certified by NASM and Michael Clark.

Accidents/injuries happen. I do however think Powell has done a great job in not only helping players come back from injury. I also think he helped prevent compensatory and reoccurring injuries. Judging him from his resume, he has 15yrs of experience around professional sports teams pretty much 24/7 -- that experience is invaluable.

Also, Grant Hill came to the Clippers after discussing with the Phoenix Suns training staff (and Mike Clark) on how good our training staff is. Clippers training staff got the thumbs up and told Grand he'd be in good hands. So there's that.

^Lol I am not calling you stupid. I'm saying the thread wasn't really thought out enough to go and suggest that someone get a better education/training process or lose his job with no knowledge on what it is he actually does. I just think your opinion in this particular topic doesn't have any depth to it. No offense intended, just my opinion. Like the statement about "possible fixes for our team." What is there to fix? What did he do wrong? What could he have done better? Everyone was healthy by the playoffs.

Do we know enough about what Powell does to comment on whether he's good or bad? I think every area of the team should be examined, just no sure if we even have info on how well the guy is doing his job to actually say anything about it.

I just meant if there were new methods of keeping players healthy, (seminars and such), and with the new owner wanting to improve his staff with new techniques), then spend the money that may have....

I see what you're saying now. Seminars always help. No matter how good his techniques might be, there are always things he can learn from top trainers and sports doctors out there. Guys like Mike Boyle (Red Sox Strength coach), Dr. Stuart McGill, Martin Rooney (nfl combine trainer and mma strength and conditioning coach) presents at many events like this one 3 day summit in Long Beach next month. They talk about new age injury prevention techniques, rehabilitation techniques, strength training. It'd be nice to see guys like him there learning from peers.
