Of course, another little nugget of information that the ESPN reporter neglected to mention was that the board of governors met with Ballmer at length and things went very positively. This paves the way for a quick and smooth transfer of ownership if and when Shelly wins. Literally all the other owners have to do now is to vote him in, which they can do by phone as soon as Shelly is confirmed as sole trustee with authority to sell.

Nah... Ronald's cool. He's the one that tells his girlfriend: "It's fine to bring black men to my games, just don't bring 'em home and f*ck 'em".

Steve Ballmer will back out of buying the Clippers if it goes beyond August 15th. I hope David Geffen & Oprah are paying attention.

And you know this... how? Are you his financial advisor?

If you actually knew the facts, you'd know that there is a clause in his purchase agreement that is good for 360 days beyond July 15th just in case Donald's litigation against Shelly goes long... that's how badly Ballmer wants this team.

Now, of course, the NBA won't let things go on that long. My guess is that they'll start to get very uncomfortable around the beginning of September if Sterling vs. Sterling isn't resolved by then... but the current case WILL be resolved by then.

Either Donald wins, then the NBA proceeds to vote him out and auctions off the team... in which case, Oprah, Ellison, et al get a second chance to bid...

OR...

Shelly wins and the deal goes through. Donald can try postpone the sale on appeal, but Shelly can invoke Section 1310(b) of the California Probate Code - requesting the judgement be made "notwithstanding appeal" by stating that the delay caused by an appeal would result in "injury or loss" to the trust.

Simply by producing independent valuations of the Clippers and evidence of the competing bids, she can show that the franchise is not worth even close to $2,000,000,000 and that this is a one-off deal, that - if it goes away - could cost her (and Donald) several hundred million dollars. This way, the sale gets done and Donald sues his own wife for "damages" at a later date... although it's difficult to see how she hurt him when she just brought 10-figures into the trust!

I still think that Ballmer is voted in by the end of August and the sale is completed by the start of training-camp. Donald will be suing the league for years to come, but that's no concern of ours.

Of course...

If he says: "No worries, your honor... take as long as you like... I'll still be here.", that obviously hurts Shelly's case. The same way as she's claiming that he will sue the trust if the deal doesn't go through. It won't happen, but it COULD. That leaves the trust open to potentially suffering a loss, further strengthening Shelly's argument that she's doing the "right thing" by selling.

Ballmer wants an NBA franchise more than a dog wants to lick his nuts... and he's first in line for one in the second biggest TV market in the country with a new deal on the horizon.

He's not going anywhere.

At a hearing to set parameters for the rest of a probate trial, attorney Adam Streisand implored the judge to make a swift decision when hearings conclude July 28. He said the final deadline for closing the deal with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was extended by a month, but "the deal ends on Aug. 15." A month later, the NBA can seize the team and sell it at auction, Streisand said. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/11233305/attorney-says-d onald-sterling-stalling-tactics-doom-sale-los-angeles-clippers?ex_cid= espnapi_public Just as I said. Ballmer's lawyer is merely asking the judge to expedite his decision so the deal can go ahead before the NBA loses patience and seizes the....

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men in their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night.

.. .

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I could not rep you for some some odd reason. But anyone, in this era of short attention span, who quotes Shakespeare on a sports board, deserves props.

Well done, good Sir!!!

Thank you. It's Dylan Thomas, not Shakespeare and I wish Donald Sterling would, in fact, go gentle into that good night. It's not to be. I thought the poem was appropriate for Sterling because if Sterling has a positive quality, it's that he's a man who fights for what he wants. He rages against the dying of the light, in this case the virtually inevitable sale of the Clippers.
