Damn, not even new ownership can convince the NBA to stop slurping the Lakers and screwing us on the schedule. The Lakers also have the fewest back-to-backs.

Trying their best to make the Fakers appear relevant so they can keep selling those stupid #24 jerseys before no one will buy them anymore. Bet they have one of the weakest schedules too.

The fact that we only have 3 games against OKC could bite us in the arse. After we play them opening night, we don't see them at Staples again and we have to visit there twice. It's always going to be a tight race between us and them seeding-wise, and of course the NBA has to give golden-boy home court advantage.

Even if we beat them at home, we still have to take one in their building. Otherwise if we're all square at season's end, they will be the higher seed. They pretty much start the season a half-game up on us.

If the Clippers win the home game against OKC. OKC will be half a game behind us.

Actually, we would be a FULL game ahead... but with two still to play in their house.

If both teams win on their own floor, we have to win more against the league to finish above them.

Example:

Of the remaining 79 games not against each other, let's say the Clippers go 57-22 and OKC goes 56-23. If both teams win at home vs. each other, they will be tied, but OKC would have the better seed despite the Clippers being better against the league as a whole.

We either have to win more games overall or win in their building. They don't have to do either. Whichever way you slice it, the league has given them an advantage against us.

The Clippers were 2-3 at Chesapeake Arena last season including the playoffs. They know how to win against the Thunder so homecourt advantage doesn't really matter between those two teams.

I don't think that is how it works. Theres a certain way tie breakers are determined. Such as who has won more games against their division, against their conference and those determine it, they don't just let OKC be seeded higher cause the league likes them better.

And what is that crap I read about OKC being seeded higher even if our record is better? NO! Best record determines highest seeds. The records have to be identical for there to be a tie breaker... Am I misunderstanding what you wrote? Cause it doesn't make sense to me right now...

Settle down, Mascot... I didn't say that they get better seeding because the league likes them better. I said that they have an advantage by having home court in 2/3 games. If both teams win their divisions (highly likely), the next tiebreaker is head-to-head record. So if both teams win the games on their own floors, OKC owns the season series and the tiebreaker.

Per my example... if the Clippers go 57-22 against the rest of the league (minus OKC), and OKC goes 56-23 against the rest of the league (minus the Clippers) PLUS both teams win their home games against each other, their records would be tied at 58-24 - but OKC would get the better seed based on their 2-1 record against the Clippers.

And Yemi, we were also 2-3 at Staples last year including the playoffs, so it's just as easy to say that they know how to beat us there. So while I agree that home court might not be the be all and end all, I'd rather have it against them in the playoffs than not - and the season series could end up deciding that.

Game #5 in the semis was the point where our season went tits-up... and it was in their redneck palace. Maybe CP3 makes clutch FT's in front of his own fans... or gets away with his touch-foul on a hail mary 3... or doesn't decide to be cute with the ball because he's worried about being stripped with no call... or actually gets a call when he was mugged by Sefo on the very last play... maybe Barnes gets the correct out-of-bounds call at home. There is absolutely no way we lose that game in that fashion in Los Angeles.

I just hate that we only have game #1 of the entire season to get ahead in the season series, and then we STILL have to take one from them in their house later on. Let's not forget how flat we came out against a weak laker team last year on opening night. If we lose game #1 this year, we will almost certainly lose the season series and any subsequent tiebreaker. We will HAVE to get the better record to get the better seed. They will only have to tie to get the better seed.

Hence, it is an advantage for OKC... as if they needed another one with the inordinate amount of times the stick-insect goes to the line as a jumpshooter.

Ok, makes sense i thought we were playing them 4 times not 3 times this season. And I'm not worried about us on opening night. You have to remember that we had an entire roster overhaul last summer, with a lot of new faces in the lineup and especially the starters. I expect us to dominate, cause I honestly think OKC is the same this year as last if not worse...

Are there any good local Clipper hangouts in the valley or downtown to watch a game and eat good food and drink?

All I care this season is playoff and going far. Don't care where we at the standing as long we go deep and to the WCF.
