I for one, would employ, email, call, and just generally bug our commissioner, adam, to seriously START training camp right after the labor day weekend in September, so come opening night, all the teams are....

Technically the players should stay in shape themselves, not everyone is Andre Miller and guys like that who just get in shape during training camp. Injuries though are something that will happen. Even if training camp was earlier, some of those guys who get strains and pulls because they come into training camp in poor shape and the intensity affects them could still get injured.

Jared Dudley should. His training camp should start when the playoffs are over.

in my selfish opinion yes!!! and they should put all practices on TV and have interviews every day telling what the Team is doing and planning.

Also time off actually is in itself a good injury preventing mechanism, the players need that

@Loyal you may not be too far off from that idea. The NBA is planning stuff for the future. Like a longer break from the allstar weekend, moving the draft to early july, starting the playoffs a bit earlier & starting the season a little bit earlier. Basically move the season up a bit. It won't happen anytime soon tho. It's coming tho. Smile

I imagine their players union would have a major problem with that.

I would think as a pro athlete, you job is not 6 months long, your job is 12 months long like the rest of us. You just get paid a butt load more money then the rest of us but if you took your job seriously as you really should, you would always be in the gym and always be ready. YOu shouldn't get a 6 month vacation.

The players that take 6 month vacations (eg: Stephen Jackson) tend to have trouble in their older years.

Aside from the obvious pragmatic benefits of being adequately prepared from a job, ones that players with a mature and responsible mindset would already do out of their own ambition, I don't see this happening. The union would be strongly against this as players only get paid for games. It would be too big of a change for benefits players should already be getting on their own drive.
