I don't agree with their assessment of the west here. A lot of teams are going to finish with better records than what their predicting

1.) Spurs

2.) Clippers

3.) Thunder

4.) Mavericks

5.) Grizzlies

6.) Warriors

7.) Blazers

8.) Rockets

That's how it's gonna go down.

They didn't do too bad last year (except for the 7th/8th spots) in their summer predictions.

Talking about the "top" 8. Not necessary in the correct order. Not bad.

I think everybody knew those top 6 teams were gonna make the playoffs. The hard part is getting them in order.

It's tough just trying to get the top 5 in order let alone 8. In the West it's tough now who will make the PO's. Very, very tough conference and getting stronger.

By the way, how did you do last year in predicting the West. Betcha you didn't see Portland or Phoenix making the hard eight, lol.

I think they need to move the "Wubs" up a notch or two and who gives a shite what ESPN thinks anyhow. CAPSnCLips is probably closer.

It's just for shite and giggles anyway. Nobody really cares. We'll see who's closer at seasons end. Loooong way till then. lol.

One should only look at ESPN's predictions for laughs. It doesn't matter where you stand at the end of the season. You can be the 1st seed and get knocked out in the first round.

How many years have the Thunder been first on ESPn's predictions?

Prediction is quite difficult, and dom, too many teams can't finish with better records because if there are a lot of good teams, then you have to be beating someone, unless there's no middle teams and just a lot of really good teams and a lot of really bad teams.

Yea, it is hard, and technically anything could happen, but as long as people have a good educated guess, not going to really get on them about it. I might disagree here and there, but that's not a big deal. Only if it is something crazy like Sacramento is 5th seed or something like that, then it's a bit ridiculous and one would have to question.

Actually these predictions look pretty accurate to me.

One thing to note for ESPN this was extremely tough to predict the top 3. All separated by one game. Almost saying anyone can be first or third its that close and I would have to agree.

For Playoff purposes. I hope Thunder is 2nd and We are 1st.

I think people forget that Westbrook only played 46 games. If he played more, it could have been 2-3 more wins for OKC last season. Similarly for the Clippers, Chris Paul misses games yearly, but not 20 games, and Redick has missed games here and there, but again, not 47 games. If we had Paul for 10 more games meaning he would still miss like 10 games, and Redick for about 40 more, that's a possible 2-4 game boost from last season also in addition to having Hawes, and maybe having Barnes and Dudley healthy to start the season. However we might feel about their play or ability, them being healthy still helps, even if it is just 1 more win that it adds.

...now of course that has to be adjusted to a new season. Those are boosts in comparison to last season, but if more teams improved than got worse, there might not be a total win increase, but could be a relative increase. 58 wins could be the best record in the West this season for example.

Agreed, I'd like to get first, but I don't care who between SA and OKC is 2nd or 3rd, just whatever post-pones matching up with SA until the WCF, though being first would of course accomplish that if they are 2/3. At the least 2nd would be nice with SA first.

1 San Antonio * until someone knocks 'em off, don't see how you don't seed them first 2 Oklahoma City * w/Westbrook coming back and their history w/Durant, again don't see how you seed them any lower.... good coach too 3 Clippers * hope Ballmer gracefully relieves Doc of his personnel duties, and somehow is able to eventually rework CP3's contract.... Doc is sentimental in keeping his man Dudley.... not sure how CJ Wilcox for Willie Green is gonna pan out.... would have rather had GR3 or Kyle Anderson there, and have said our good byes to Duds........

Aren't the Spurs getting older. Isn't one reason they're so good is that they've played together a long time with Pop. Leonard is their only big iprovement. Manu and Tim are a year older. We've played under Doc for ???. DJ has just started to flower. Blake hasn't hit his peak. Reddick was hurt. Our bigs sucked canal water last yr. Have OKC or SAS gotten better?

I hate to be redundant but out lack is a wing defender. Too bad DTS took so long to leave.

You should make sure you say "our backup bigs" as we had some one of the best pair of starting bigs in the league last season.

Spurs are very fine tuned that they have a great chance of having a very good regular season record always. They don't lose too many games that they "shouldn't lose". If you win 2 more of those games in comparison to another really good team, that is two more wins no matter how we slice it. So yea, they are definitely always a contender for best regular season record even if old.

Lakers will be at the bottom of the conference again, they won't be chasing any playoffs, Suns, Nugs are better!

To be brutally honest, we are going to be considered the third best team in the West until we beat OKC or SA in the playoffs. Not saying we can't, but just saying that now we need to prove ourselves against the elite teams.

OUR BACK UP BIGS SUCKED CANAL WATER not our bigs Embarassed

Are we better than OKC? Remember we should have beaten them except we pulled a "Clipper Classic" finish. Sam and the 8 seconds comes to mind. Are we CONSIDERED better? Your point is well stated. We have to beat them in the PO's. The difference maker with SAS is the coach. Take that same team with any other coach and they'd be just OK. Given a decent SF Pop cold win a ring in '15-16 with this squad. It's all on is on Doc. Last yr CP3 was hurt, JJ was hurt and DTS was DTS and screwed our pooch. For you youngsters Welcome to Clipperland. Remember the REFS.

When we're on a roll our offense is a steam roller but the difference will be defense, What can we do against Westbrook and Parker. Is Manu a step too old?
