Thanks for the read CP3 I honestly think that is DJ were to use his body and strength he would be able to rebound better and defend bigs better and hell even have better scoring opportunities. I feel that he doesn't use his body as much as he should or could. I think he's better defender than Howard and Davis. Ibaka as much as I hate the guy knows how to use his huge body and is the reason he's such a good defender I think if DJ were to use his body the way Ibaka does he would be a beast.

Yup. I sure hope DJ doesn't waste the whole offseason working on post moves and free-throws... he'll need to get some quality nut-punching practice time in if he's going to compete with Ibaka.

Yea because look at past bigs that just dominated the paint in particular Shaq, ibaka, Dwight, Hakeem the dream all bigs that would use there brute strength to defend grab rebound and score. DJ is a big dude and is strong he should really use that to his advantage a lot more. And before someone calls me out on it besides ibaka who has a jumper to some degree from up to like 15-17 feet they all use the strength and body. I would love for DJ to play like Shaq lol I know Shaq was way bigger but I could see DJ playing like him to some degree

The only area I noticed DJ not using his body was one-one defense. When his man backed him down. But DJ is already a beast - 14 rebounds a game. You don't get that just by luck. But I think it showed in the OKC series that he needs to use his body more, I'm sure he'll be better this season, Free Throws can't get any worse, and I hope he remains the magnet that he is for rebounds.

Oh no don't get me wrong DJ as a rebounder is a beast, a tank and just demolishes opponents I guess I should have explained my self better what I meant was I would sometimes see him lose the battle when it came to boxing out. I don't know if it had to do with how he positioned him self or if he just got boxed out. That's what I meant by him being able to rebound better. My main main points were if he were to use his body more he would be able to defend better one on one andayne score a little more exactly like Shaq did cuz that's how he got almost all his points just man handling his opponents.

DJ still needs improvement, his shining stats are due more to athletic freakish ability than bball skill and IQ. His team defense is good but still inconsistent as shown in the POs by the numerous times the paint was attacked and DJ was nowhere to be seen. His 1v1 cover is lacking and still struggles against quality big men like Marc Gasol who pretty much scores at will.

DJ will definitely be in the talks but if you ask me, i reckon Ant Davis will take DPOY honors this coming season. As Nene quoted from their recent international scrimmage "He looked like Dhalsim," lol

Yea but look at what Doc did to him In just half a year not even a full year. I think that sometimes people don't give DJ enough credit. I'm not saying your bashing him but I feel that this coming season DJ Is breaking out and will come into his own and be our final piece to winning it all.

You can't put all the blame on DJ, cause when you have Russ go full speed that is just too much. The paint was open cause our perimeter defenders werent stopping the dribble drive penetration. It was 'Pick Your Poison' for DJ either letting the guard lay it up or dish it to DJ's big man...

I don't see DJ beating out Serge Ibaka, Joakim Noah, or Roy Hibbert. His rim protection/opp fg% is worse then all three as is his lack of consistent defensive awareness. I loathe Ibaka, but the guy is an absolutely elite defender. He shuts down Blake at times like nobody else I've seen. Noah has a noticeably greater BBIQ than DJ and is a better overall defender largely because of it. Then there's Roy Hibbert who holds opponents to just above 40% at the rim to DJ's nearly 50%. Even though I don't see him winning DPOY, I'll be happy if DJ can gain some ground on the top tier guys next season.

I believe he will be VERY close... Not sure he will do it next season but he will be DPOY twice in his career.

Technique wins over brute strength any day. Hakeem was a master technician. Shaq was strong but they let him get away with his "boom boom" move which was illegal. Kevin Love has and can give Blake fits because he's technically sound. Duncan has remained great because of fundamentals etc etc. Let's go old school. Russell and Wilt had great technique.Wilt was also the strongest man EVER to play the game. Stronger than Shaq. I have heard from announcers who knew them both. Wilt probably could lift Shaq. Wilt could out sprint any guard (10.9 in the hundred) mostly because he knew HOW to run. Bench press 500 #. They said Wilt would move Shaq like a rag doll. He would have destroyed Shaq. But back to the subject. They were both world class track and field athletes and knew how to use their bodies. They knew HOW to jump. Wilt was a pentathlete. He did triple jump and broad jump. He knew how to move his feet. He and Mr. Russell would have embarrassed Howard. Russ was one of the best high jumpers in the world. He knew HOW to jump. There is a difference between Basketball Athleticism and an athlete DJ is athletic but not an athlete. Players are two inches taller now than then. Make Russ 6'11" and Wilt 7"3.5" and add a few pounds. They would take the heads off any center in the game except maybe Timmy (yeah Russ was a PF as is Timmy). Patrick Ewing? Jabarr was as skinny as a rail.

Floyd Mayweather and Ali are other examples. Hollyfield beat Tyson on technique, a strong left jab. Larry Holmes would have handed Tyson his head. For you youngsters if you have never seen a young Ali fight you don't know sports Go to you tube NOW. Brazilian jiujitsu is another example. Another treat. Mifune in Masters of judo on you tube. A 70 year old man maybe 5'2' and maybe 120# throws 200# guys.

If you want somebody to defend the paint, Bill Lambeir

Back to the subject. You lose athleticism as you age but you don't lose technique. Blake had better learn some technique. Sometimes DJ is the only Clipper guarding the paint and he needs help.

Working of FT's is a waste of time but DJ has to learn to score in the post. When he's the Roll guy what does he do? set a screen or dunk. When they hedge he has nobody to protect the rim. Blake better learn. If we could have gotten Deng or even an old AK47, DJ could be DPOY. Pre CBA we could have picked up Deng and a ring.

You don't have to hit Ibaka in the hangydowns. Get behind him spoon style reach in and squeeze. DJ is a lefty. Once you caress his cajones turn sharply to the right and don't let go. I don't advocate violence but let him know that he will soon sing soprano. The refs won't see it and he will get the message. What would Barkley do? Send Dudley to Brazil and get another tough guy. Dud will love it. The food is good, the women are gorgeous and have big bundas. (your first word in Portuguese). I screwed up and didn't take my Clipps T shirt. Pictures of Copacabana bunnies in red white blue and butt floss. Nene means kid or baby or little boy btw. If you would like these pics send me large quantities of cash and I'll go there and snap them.

No blame at all, just an observation and admittedly some of the defensive problems that attribute to that situation is the lack of premier wing defenders.

Interesting enough amongst the hoopla with the love trade was watching this clip and found the no. 1 play quite amusing, now who is that missed his man giving him a wide open look at 3 LEL?

I don't think Clippers tried to run many plays for DJ last year, but I think they should do it more often though. And DJ need to be a better P&R player and maybe.....even some hook shot?
