The deal Clippers get: Guard Carlos Delfino, center Miroslav Raduljica, their own 2015 second-round pick Bucks get: Forward Jared Dudley, 2017 protected first-round pick Los Angeles Clippers: D The Clippers have spent the entire summer battling the luxury-tax apron. Because they used the non-taxpayer mid-level exception to sign Spencer Hawes as a free agent this summer, they are hard-capped and cannot spend more than $80.8 million, no matter how much new owner Steve Ballmer might like to. That limited them to signing just one....

nobody cares about these guys.. they do not follow the clippers and do not know our needs.. we need rebounding, bigs who can shoot free throws and small forwards.. we got a big and a small forward.. and got rid of a 4 million dollar bench warmer.. enough said.. ....

Didn't realize that Dudley's contract was a legacy of the old CBA. Shame we couldn't have just used our amnesty on him (you piece of sh*t, Ryan Gomes!). Actually, I'm not sure we could have anyway, since we willingly traded for him. Anyway, thanks for posting, Javi. ....

Somethings telling me Doc wants to go the opposite approach and play big as opposed to small with Blake playing a few stretches at SF with Hawes and Baby stretching the paint. ....

What are they breaking down? It is just Jared Dudley. And THIS is an "insider" report? Must be a ghost town quiet summer over at ESPN. ....

The trade is a 'D' for losing a first rounder and our likely starting sf who's just now finally coming back from a chronic injury in what looks like nothing more than a salary dump. Nobody watching the Clippers last year watched the real Jared Dudley. This cannot be emphasized enough around here. I have no idea why it's so hard for many to accept that he was INJURED and looked NOTHING like the Dudley who played good basketball for....

The only hope is somebody good gets waived, 1% chance. Or somebody values Raduljica enough to trade for him, 2% chance. This is just a ridiculous trade unless Doc has bigger plans that are not clear right now. Are we really going into camp with Barnes and a 2nd year shooter that couldn't shoot last year? Delfino coming off a devastating injury is still probably a better option than anybody out there and that's scary as hell. Are we....

The best possible free agent wing is CDR, he made his three pointers and played legit defense for a very good defensive team in Charlotte last year. If we can get him at minimum it would be similar to getting Barnes at minimum a few years back. ....

CDR has some serious talent I think the problem was a ricky Davis syndrome, just grabbing stats instead of playing for the team. ....

if Radu can be a difference maker in the playoffs, the trade is pretty much a wash (there's no D in Dudley), albeit if I was GM, I would never trade my first rounder, and.... unless something drastic happens, can't see any other way than to get Blake to play some sf come playoff time.... if Danny Manning could do it, the Griff can do it.... do we have any other choice against the likes of KD....

loved him in college and remember wanting Clips to draft him. We ended up doing pretty good that year with DJ as our 2nd round pick with CDR still on the board. But last year was the first time he was a real NBA player, and this is going to be his 6th season. He was decent last year but Dudley is still a far superior option. ....

Looks like we're probably releasing both of them (prior speculation on releasing delfino and using stretch provision). Doc must have someone (or two or three) in mind, or maybe just flexibility for later on and next year. ....

CDR was much improved last year. This was true for other years, but last years CDR was actually quite good. He defends, he averaged 12/4/2 per 36 and shot 44.0% FG / 38.6% 3PT. Is he a SF? Not really, but in terms of being proven obviously we have no clue about Wilcox yet, but he's far superior to anything we've seen from Bullock.....

So all this for cap room, and Dudley gone, now what? We still have to fill out our roster to 13, so who's it gonna be AND Why?
I can't answer the questions of who and why, but they needed to get to 13 players without exceeding the apron.
    28. What is the hard cap? When are teams subject to it? How does it work? As described in question number 23, teams above the apron -- the point $4 million above the tax....

Now, after all the trade dust and training camp signing is done, I'd like to see what all the so-called experts think of our latest roster? This IS heads above where we were at this time compared to last year, AND with the owner change AND doc's extension, the mindset around the clipper players must be NOTHING TO STOP US THIS YEAR! So unless the injury....

Getting CDR makes this trade fine, he basically replaces Dudley and it also allowed us to fill out our roster with a few other guys. I'd preferred to keep Raduljica rather than signing Turkoglu, but whatever. In the end the trade allowed our roster to go from 12 players to 14, with more space left over than we started with and fortunately for us there was a league minimum SF available who is likely a good amount better....
