This is my opinion we should just let brand leave and wait till 2010 to come for more superstars players like Dirk Nowitzki, Yao Ming, Richard Jefferson, Michael Redd, Tyson Chandler, Peja Stojakovic , LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Amare Stoudemire. The good thing about this is that Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas would become free Agent that would give us more money to get 2 or 3 great Players from this list including brand out so we would have like 35 to 40 million just to spend I think we should just wait till 2010 or even 2009 so we could try to get Carlos Boozer Yep but this is my thoughts. So what do you People think about this.

Instead of waiting two years to get a guy like Boozer, we could just retain Brand right now AND pair him with Baron Davis. Cuttino Mobley and Thomas both are needed now for depth purposes, though they become trade assets when they each have one year in their contract. We can win now and there is no reason to rebuild because BD and EB will be a potent combination.

Some merit to this thought, but there are two reasons why it may not work:

    1) Many of those players will end up resigning with their current teams (e.g. Chris Paul just got an extension, how many from this list will as well). Thus, that list will be much less impressive when 2010 comes around.

    2) We would suck really bad for the next two years, would be painful to watch. Worse, it would be hard to attract FAs to a team that wins 20 games a year. Look at Atlanta, only Joe Johnson has ever gone for that strategy. Boston did it, but they had Pierce to attract the other two ... no guarantee Kaman or Al will be the guy Dirk and Dwayne (for example) would think combines with them to give LAC a "Big Three".

No because if EB stays he would be staying for a relatively bargain price. Plus if EB leaves what are we going to do this year? There are a lot of expectations to win and win now, so I think that's the focus of the front office.

I agree with everyone. No point is giving up Brand and waiting for the 2010 draft class. Also Ether is right when stating that many of them will resign with their current teams. Besides EB is one of the best power forwards out there and we would sign him for cheaper than someone else of his caliber. So lets just sign him and work on depth of our bench.

i think your nuts... the only players in those list better than brand are wade and lebron and maybe dirk and amare. Yao is great but would be even better with a brand at his side. I think we can keep the team we have and add baron at the point, and let gordon adn thornton devlop and see where we are. Both are great players and should become great nba players, so before we start smoking crack lets appreciate the great player elton brand is.
