Former Central Michigan player Chris Kaman , now a center for the Clippers, has received German citizenship and will team with Dirk Nowitzki for Germany at an Olympic qualifying tournament this month.

Kaman's great-grandparents were German. He will be on a team seeking to qualify for its first Olympics since 1992.

Well Germany beat Cape Verde 104-68
Kaman had a great game with 10 points on 3/5 shooting and 4/4 FT in 20 mins of play. He also had 2 blocked shots, and 10 defensive rebounds (no offensive)
All in a days work for the new and improved Kaman. Leave some of those stats for us Wink

ATHENS, Greece (AP) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points to lead Germany to a 104-68 win over Cape Verde in its opening game of Olympic qualification Tuesday.

Canada lost to Slovenia 86-70 in the 12-team tournament that will send three teams to the Beijing Olympics.

The Dallas Mavericks' Nowitzki led Germany with 16 points and five rebounds. American-born Chris Kaman scored 10 points in the Los Angeles Clippers' players debut for Germany. He's glad his teammates speak English and have welcomed him as their fellow player.

"The problem is I don't speak any German," the 26-year-old said. "I'm excited to be here ... These guys have been playing together for 10 years now. They've been very welcoming. It reminds me of college."

Jaka Lakovic scored 19 points in Slovenia's second straight win at the tournament.

Compare Kaman now with his rookie photos. He has really matured from that dear-in-the-headlights kid. He's grown; you could see it in his face. Hope he picks up some tricks on how to defend Dirk in the regular season.

along with 2 blocked shots, 4/6 FT, and 4 boards. Not too shabby.

Germany has lost versus Croatia and they'll face tomorrow the loser of the next Greece vs Puerto Rico. It means Puerto Rico.

Kaman hasn't played a good game getting only 12 points. He has had fault problems.

Sofo played a good game yesterday versus Puerto Rico scoring 13 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in the Greece victory over Puerto Rico.

Greece and Croatia are already in the Olympics while Germany and Puerto Rico must still play the last game where the winner will be headed to the Olympics and the loser goes home. Personally I bet a Germany victory but we'll see...If you're bored and wanna watch the game I supose there will be a link to wach the game via Internet on channelsurfing.net
