| No, if you wanted two players, you would have to do a sign & trade. |

| sorry to come off so strong just really angry.... We need to just wait it out, josh smith would be nice but he is more of a pf/sf hybrid. Too small to do much against quality bigs in the WEST. I think we should just wait until 2010 and try to do BIG THINGS, or sign okafor for 10mil and see if he bites but besides that we are done for next year. I think kaman/okafor/thorn/mobley/baron is pretty good maybe playoff material with a stud veteran sf coming of the bench but there is none available except maggs or posey. What do you guys think?? |

| Yeah hopefully. If we lose him we are so boned. We really need him more than ever now. At least with an All-Star point guard we have something good that came out of this summer. We got Al, Gordon and Kaman. Hopefully we have a strong summer league and our prospects perform well and consistently. We land us Smith or Okafor and we will be ok for this season. One step at a time. We're just in a bit of a rebuilding mode. |

| Baron has no where else to go (unless the basketball gods are cooking up even more). I don't see him backing out. |

| 76ers wouldnt let iguodala go now that they are signing brand. they obviously want to see how miller brand and iguodala will work together so iguodala is probably out of the picture. okafor, great defender but isnt a threat when it comes to offense. smith has better stats then EB and is way younger then elton. so smith is probably the best choice out of all of them. but personally, i rather have rasheed wallace or vince carter |

Yeah, I agree JAMFAN, although I wouldnt call it rebuilding mode. Maybe re-structuring mode. An All-Star caliber PG is more valuable and important to the game than an all-star PF. We still have Kaman, and pair him with Smith or Okafor and we may be able to survive. Then get some youth in the draft and use some of our remaining salary room to shore up our bench and we've got a good team again.
Maybe we should look at Josh Smith instead of Okafor for the simple fact that Josh can score a lot better than Emeka can. I dont want to rely on just Kaman trying to score inside. Emeka may be enough scoring to help, or Josh Smith may be not enough defense to help...it's kinda a toss up. If we could get a decent backup PF/C, I'd be ready to bring in Josh Smith. Powell is decent, but we havent seen enough of him to know if he's the answer at backup PF. Tim Thomas is a shooting guard trapped in a power forward's height and a small forward's frame, so yeah. |

Well if we were convinced enough that we can rely on Davis, Gordon, and Thornton to produce the number we need, we cold possibly use the defense of Okafor, though Smith is probably the better choice overall. He's 22, an inch tall than Brand though a lot less powerful but is crazy athletic. We could use a guy like him. But the Hawks have reported saying they'd match any offer but who knows right lol
Hopefully we have some good news tomorrow about what are future will look like. |

I'd say we should spend our money wisely. Josh Smith will use us to get a bigger contract with Atlanta, let's not help him or them. He will not sign with us. It might be worth a shot to try though and offer him Brands money.
I think the best thing to do is go after Monte Ellis. He is a restricted free agent I believe, and if we offered him Brand money, or 70 million, he would sign with us. I know Eric Gordon might be real good, but he is a question mark ? ? ? I rather have a sure thing in the back court. If he turns out to be the real deal, then we could always trade him later. |

| yeah i would go for ellis but brands money or 70 million is to much for ellis or even josh smith. i think we have a better chance signing ellis tho if we try but we arent really looking for a pg\sg. plus i heard ellis wants to go to knicks. anyways we are looking for a pf that has both offense and defense and josh smith has both of that but his not going to leave atlanta what ever we offer josh smith the hawks will to |

We still need some kind of inside presence though. I guess if Smith wants too much money or we can't land he, Okafor is the next option.
We need someone to fill Brands spot and Powell, Thomas, or fazekas wont fill that need. |

| We might end up signing a veteran PF as a stop gap for one year with a year option. Cat's contract and Tim Thomas contract comes off the books in two years. That's another 16 Mil. We might start to angle on what we might do then. If we saved Elton's cap space and add 16 Mil, we would have about 30 Mil to spend. If you have it they will come. |

I'd change my mind, I think we should offer Josh Smith the max we can. We might get him. Altanta is way over the cap, and they already have Al Horford and Marvin Williams, both will play power forward and the other will play small forward. I think we can get Josh Smith. I spoke to hastily when I said that we could not get him and should go after Ellis.
I think Atlanta would be stupid to offer Josh Smith the max when they don't really need that position filled. He may be the next new clipper. If not, I guess I would go after Okufur and make Charlotte match. You might have to max him to get him, but since every team in the league will have money next year, we should get him while available. And then I'd go after Ellis. It's hard to imagine Ellis turning down 65 million dollars. He's worth the chance. |

| ^^^ Doesn't sound too bad at all considering whats happened. Both very athletic guys who can attack the basket. The only thing is it'd be nice to have a PF who can play the post-up game and be a strong defensive presence. |

| Yes we all know we need some NBA players, especially at PF but we shouldn't pay All-Star prices for average players. And we shouldn't mess up our cap situation on just anyone just because we lost Brand. How about Kurt Thomas? Could be a decent starter without overpaying and offering him the starting role. |
