I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to see BRAND go, and I am going to be really bent if he leaves us.........
But if he does, should we immediately go after Josh Smith to fill in the void?
He os the only worthy notable out there.
If we are left high and dry........this year is going to suck, and tossed out the window. |

Absolutely!
I am just bummed about the recent news. I hope it isn't true. |

Yeah seriously this news seems to get worse and worse for us and the bad part is its usually true to some extent...if coming from multiple legit sources.
But yes if we lose Brand Smith is a must for us |

| Don't rush any deals. We are still in a very good position with strengths at the 1, 3, and 5 positions. |

| I would actually really like smith, he can really fill out the stat sheet and that would be an extremely athletic frontcourt. With smith and kaman alone, we could be one of the leading teams in shot blocking |

But at the same time, it would be like having 2 Al Thornton's or 2 Josh Smith's on the team.
I like EKAFOR, but he is to injury prone, and still unproven after all these years. |

Lets get Bdiddy signed first
Then I'd go after Iggy or josh smith. |

| I like Okafor as well- he actually played in all 82 games last season. He is a rebounding machine- more so than Brand, though is not as good as Brand offensively. He is more of a prototypical power forward than Josh Smith. Okafor turned down $12 mil/year extension last season, but maybe he'd be okay with $13 mil/year? Bobcats willprobably match though, esp. with Larry Brown onboard. |

| I agree, Bobcats will probably match. Couldn't hurt to try, though. |

| i think josh smith is a better choice because as good as Okafor is, smith is younger, and will fill the void that the traitor gave to us. Okafor can rebound, and score buckets, but Kaman can already do that. Right now, we should go for smith because he's younger, and has more potential. |

| I also do not think we need any more O, and thats a ig part of Smith's potential. Yeah he is a great shotblocker, but thats different from being a great post defender. Most of his blocks are going to come from the weak side or on jumpers, not in the post... |

Agree with you on Josh Smith getting blocks by taking chances, and not being a great post defender. I disagree on your point that we don't need any more offense.
Here are what I think the Clippers will average next year (ppg)
Baron-20+
Kaman-17
Al Thornton-17
Starting PF-10+?
Cuttino-10
Gordon-? maybe 15?
Tim Thomas-10
Besides that, Brevin, Fazekas, Ross, Powell (whoever are the fill-ins) won't be able to contribute point wise that much.
I doubt that Baron and Kaman can both stay healthy for 82 games, so it looks to me like it'll be a continuation of last year, where we can't put enough points on the board consistently to win.
I'd like to see Josh Smith signed with us, and a big part of that is because I don't think Emeka is worth $12+ mil a year. If Emeka can be had for less, I would tell the Clippers to do it immediately. |
