J.A. Adande is the first reporter to actually come out and say the Clipper's woes may have something to do with the amazing coach DUMBleavy. While he doesn't call out all of the coach's faults (overcoaching, not using his bench, etc.) it is a start. Here's what the article says: J.A. Adande: For Clippers, bad isn't good, but worse would be better February 12, 2007 The Clippers can't even lose correctly. If they're not going to ascend, the least they could do is nosedive. Instead they're just trudging along into the worst region of the NBA, that seedy border town at the bottom of the....

"Can't lose correctly???" "But these being the Clippers"??? Whatever you bandwaggoning JERK- the guy's a Clipper basher. I remember him trying to put them down many times in the past. Even last year when they were in a bad stretch he'd take the chance to write something negative about them. I'm glad they did good in the playoffs to SHUT HIS MOUTH.

So what is he suggesting now? That the Clippers would be better off tanking to get a high draft pick? Bogus.

He's going to bash Dunleavy on the draft choices, but he doesn't bring up the front office's great decisions in terms of finding Bobby Simmons, Q Ross, signing Sam Cassell, Cat Mobley, and trying really hard to sign Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen, and of course Kobe Bryant.

J.A. Adande = Clipper Basher

As a Clipper fan, I have no problem with what J.A. Adande said. In fact, my feeling is that if you don't want to be bashed, then don't give someone the opportunity to bash you. For the longest time, the Clippers have deserved the negative attention that was given to them. Last years playoff push made people think that maybe the organization had turned things around...no more bad drafts, no more letting players go elsewhere when they became free agents, no more bad teams.

This was suppose to be the year where they proved that last year wasn't a fluke. So far they haven't done it...and time is running out. With 29 games left in the season, it's going to be a battle for the team to make it to the playoffs in the eighth spot.

Yes, the team has made some great moves like trading for Cassell. Mobley was as good of a signing that we could get at the time (we settled for him when the others wouldn't sign). I would classify some of the other decisions as fairly good/decent such as finding Ross (if it was great, he'd be a permanent starter with no discussion) and Simmons (remember, he's really only had one good season). As far as trying hard and coming close to signing Arena, Allen, and Bryant...remember, close only counts in horeshoes and hand grenades. The reason they didn't sign with the Clippers is because of the negative feeling that people have about the team. And I'd say this negative feeling was deserved.

Until the Clippers come out and start to change peoples minds and prove to them that they can be a quality organization, people will continue to bash them. The Clippers tried to start that change last year, but, unfortunately, haven't followed through on it. In fact, they've fallen flat on their face. Hopefully, they can pick themselves up and stop giving others the opportunity to bash them.

I, on the other hand, have a problem with these haters. I don't mind writers being critical, but when they sit on a high pedestal and cop a such an attitude like that as a long-time Clipper fan personally I must take exception. He's totally dissing the Clippers. As fans obviously we want the team to do well, but unlike bandwaggoners we stick with them through the good and the bad. And no matter how poorly the Clippers play I don't want to read articles that denigrate my team, nor will I respect the those writers who author them.

It's hard to explain- I guess it's kind of like having siblings- you can mess around with them yourself but when strangers say crap about them you take exception. Wink

Wow, that article seemed to generate more F words on TopBuzz than any I can remember. It's easy to bash the Clippers right now. It is even easier to bash Dumleavy. But exactly what part of the article is untrue? Mistakes have been made, lots of them, important decisions gone the wrong way. The Clippers have obviously done some things right the last couple of years, like Elgin finally getting the owner to sign the core of their lineup to long term contracts. But when it comes to decisions that Dumleavy has been a part of, there are more things that have gone wrong than right. The biggest recent mistake was when we went after Gilbert Arenas. We offered 60 Mil, Washington offered 65 Mil. I wonder how many Clippers execs now wish we had stepped up to the plate and offered more. Arenas was a bargain at those numbers. Now he is the second leading scorer in the league. Some say he is a better wing player than Kobe and Dwade.
