what about cat and TT for zach randolf and david lee....although everyone will probably knock this scenario i personally like it....their salaries are pretty close as it is so only a couple small adjustment is all that would be needed to make it work....

ok so YES randolf gets overpaid and YES hes had some character issues but the thruth is the kid can score....the reason i really like this trade is because it gives the clips a bonus piece in david lee....lee is going to be in the last year of his contract and will become a restricted FA next year....you know his value is rising in this league and could be a great addition to the clippers or a valuable S&T option next year....what i see as the best case scenario for this trade is david lee comes in and plays hard(you can expect that from this kid), we start him at PF and he gets similar numbers to last year and helps solidify our frontcourt, zach randolf(although this might be a stretch) comes off the bench as our 6th man and is basically asked to score(which we know he can do and likes to do), randolf could possibly be happy with this role because he could come in anytime someone 3-5 gets in early foul trouble....lee can always slide over to the 5 if kaman sits and randolf minus his horrible 3pt % can play the three or four....we would have a very deep frontcourt that could board with the best of them....

of course if things go bad we have several options next year....like i said hopefully this trade would work out but if it doesnt we have two valuable pieces that other teams and contenders would be interested in....we can work out a S&T with lee to bring in different pieces if need be or just resign him and look to deal randolf who will only have two tears left on his contract and therefore be a little more valuable....

essentially the knicks get $14+ mil coming off the books in 2010(which is all they seem to want these days) and the clippers lockup a deep frontcourt....lets not forget that this trade would essentially have no bearing on our cap space this year being that the we'd basically be trading salaries and would still leave the doors wide open to sign another key FA or just a couple lower tier role players to add depth....

i read on yahoo that IF we trade for randolph that we dont have to match the salary cuz we're under the cap. so theoretically speaking, we can trade for him just by giving them draft picks

No, they still have to get within 75% or 80% of his salary, they just don't have to exactly match. So they might could give Cat's 10 Mil salary to match with his 14Mil. That way we only lose 4 Mil of the 13 Mil in cap space we currently have and still have money to agressively go after other free agents out there, and there are some good ones. I think that TT and David Lee will not be a part of this deal. The Knicks will not let David Lee go for TT.

The knicks are actually including lee in talks for some weird reason. If you take on of their bad contracts you might be able to get him.

If we let go of Cat and TT's contracts, we could probably keep Livingston, that would be awesome. If things pan out, Brand leaving is seeming like more and more of a good thing, especially now since everyone knows he's a scumbag

Yes if we trade Cat Mobley and Tim Thomas for Randolph....
We could sign guys like Walter Herrmann, Maurice Evans, Keyon Dooling, Bostjan Nachbar, Ricky Davis, and Fred Jones

Cat and TT for Randolph and Lee is a great trade for the clippers, they should pursue it.
