We all remember what happened last year. We needed a competent PG bad and the Clippers moved slowly. Then after all the good PG's were signed we ended up with the scraps that nobody else wanted. In an inverview with Hoopsworld, Prez Andy says they are now going to take a step back, talk to all of these players, and see where we are. Well, we all know where we are. We need a competent PF bad. And the likely targets are all restricted. So even after you make them an offer you have to wait 7 days. We have actually seen an unusal amount of movement early in the FA process. Much more than normal. If the Clippeers fiddle around, you can scratch off any player that you have on your wish list. Because by the time we sign our PF and see how much money we have left, most of the best 2nd tier FA's will be gone. Other teams are negotiating with these players as we speak.

Yeah I guess but I still feel they need to make sure they pick the right person. If we just jumped into it, Biedrins wouldn't of even been one of our options but now he's right up there and could be the right choice for us. We also want to bring back our other players such as Ross, Livingstong, and Davis. They have to make sure they know an estimated figure it will cost to bring everyone back, so throwing money out right now isn't the best idea.
I mean who know's this may be a mistake waiting till next week but it may not. I think the FO is on their game. they can't afford to mess up this offseason and they know that.

These guys can add. But if they fiddle around they won't get a PF and they won't be able to sign any of the best 2nd tier players either. We could end up with squat. We currently only have about 5 players signed to play next year. That sounds like an urgent situation to me. I'm available.

Yeah but as clipps04 said they need to mull over all the options, including trade possibilities. You do have a point that they can't take too long to take action, however.

How can we trade when we only have 5 players under contract? They are not going to trade Kaman and Davis. So that leaves Cat and Thomas. I'm not sure either one of them have much trade value. Most teams would look at them as being overpriced for what they are producing. If their contracts expired after next season then we could move them. But they both have two years left. So trade who? Where? I don't see it. I say, move slow and lose out. The top teams have already made deals with some of the top players. Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, Baron Davis, Chris Dujon, Antwan Jefferson, Michael Pietrus, Gerald Green, Ronny Turiaf, Diop DeSagana, James Jones, Jose Calderon, Beno Udrih, and others all gone in the first 3 days. This list will double over the next week. Wait and lose a date. The other guy will have already asked her to the prom.

Well most of the free agents they did not renounce rights to. So they are still technically on our salary cap. The only player we have to sign under the cap is livi. Im sure the FO knows that. And Andy and MDsr need to get on the same page because MDsr says starting monday we will hear some noise and andy says it will take time.

Hear what your saying but mobleys and TT contract are great for us because teams who want to go under the cap in 2010 will have there wish they are trade bait right now.

Don't believe the HYPE. They have already started making moves.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/b ... .clippers/

The Knicks have rejected a proposal from the Clippers to trade power forward Zach Randolph, league sources told SI.com.

Terms of any proposal were not known, but the Clippers have enough salary-cap space to accept Randolph's contract without having to give the Knicks equal salaries in return. The Clippers, seeking to replace the departed Elton Brand, were trying to take Randolph off the Knicks' hands while offering little more than cap relief to New York, the sources said. Randolph will make $14.7 million next season, and he has three years and $48 million left on his contract.

Well they either need a starting PF, or they'll bite the bullet with Josh Powell and Tim Thomas (ouch!) but if we can get some depth: my favs: Ross, Azibuike, Barnes...we could escape with those two holding down the fort at PF. That's if we get lucky and Kaman plays a whole year. Paul Davis should be re-signed for the minimum because at this point, I think he'd play for that. Give him a 1+1 contract. That way if he's improved enough, the Clippers or any other team has the chance to lock him up for a while.

I do agree that they need to hurry and make some kind of offer. Make it reasonable. If the Hawks or Bobcats wanna overpay for their players, then make em. Set a good enough offer for both Smith and Okafor (at different times) and see if it pans out. In the meantime, go after some of the guys I mentioned above to shore up the depth.

Hopefully something gets done, cuz our current lineup is good, but very very skinny (depth wise) at the moment.

Cat's contract is 9.5 Mil and expires after 2010 which is what the Knicks want. They want to clear by 2010 to make a run at LeBron. Randolph's contract expires a year to late for that. Cat and Thomas contracts together equal about 16 Mil, so to give NY cap relief we would have to accept a 2nd player in addition to Randolph that totals more that 16 Mil.. If this trade went down. We would pick up a credible PF and still have plenty of cap space to round out our roster. In fact over 10 Mil in left over cap space.

I know this is the Clippers board, buy why do the Knicks sign guys like Zach Randolph to such crazy deals and then try to dump them a couple years later. It's totally retarded, but I guess that's why they finally got rid of Isiah Thomas. I don't want the Clips to pickup Randolph's over-inflated contract. They are better off waiting until next season to trade for someone better.

Iguodala and Thornton could play at the same time, both are capable of playing Small Forward and Shooting Guard. As for Gordon, he's a rookie, he doesn't deserve to be a starter. He'll progress plenty coming off the bench, and he'll be great for energy

Its retarded if we trade for Zach Randolph and take on his $48mil over three years. Its even more retarded if the Clips sit on their asses and don't sign anyone (like last year).

The Clippers front office seems so narrow minded, only thinking in one direction with no back up plan. They put all their marbles into resigning EB, they didn't even think off what to do if he decided not to come back. All this analyzing of possible restricted free agents (Josh Smith & Emeka) should have been thought out before. I would have felt much better if after the EB news, the Clips put an offer on the table for one of the other guys out there.

Well to be fair, EB stated he'd be BACK! It wasn't till like 20 hours before he left did anyone realize he was bailing. Why would they even need a plan B when plan A was paining out to be amazing. Everyone was blind sided. You really think if the FO thought there was a 50/50 or even 30/70 chance he wouldn't be back they wouldn't start thinking about a back-up? They're not that narrow minded.
Give them some credit. It's barley even been a week, if that, and management is nearing who they want to get. They've already tried getting Randolph for unbelievably cheap. they're not sitting around, they're just not making every single move public because it's not necessary. When they do something big, we will hear about it. For now all we have are these BS articles that are 4 sentences long about "The clippers seem to want to go after (blank) and the next day it's someone else and so on.

Sorry to be a bit stern it's just crazy to say our FO is being lazy and taking their marry ol' time.
