    Please check my logic:

    1) There are MANY restricted FA's still out there. Igoudala, Josh Smith, Childress, Deng, Ben Gordon, Monta Ellis, Biedrins, others

    2) All of these guys are worth more than the MLE.

    3) Only LAC, Charlotte, and GSW have cap space.

Thus ... only a few of these guys can be signed for over $6 M. So what happens to the rest of these guys. There will be several good players left with no team able to offer > MLE.

So the players have two choices: A) accept the MLE from somewhere, or B) play for the qualifying offer for 1 year and become an unrestricted FA next summer.

So there will be a lot of decent players available next summer, but LAC won't be a player since only Brevin expires.

So ... only 3 teams bidding for a ton of players. Does this mean LAC does NOT have to rush (there's very little competition if the players want to hold out for over $6M). The other teams make their matching offers, then LAC moves to the next on the list.

    What do you folks think?

You make a good point, ether. Only three teams have cap space, and the Grizz aren't looking to spend. But remember that many of those FA's are wanted by their teams (Ellis, Deng, Smith/Childress, Biedrens, Iggy, actually all mentioned ecxept B Gordon) and they all hold bird rights. I see all of them staying w/their respective team, except for B. Gordon.

what are the rules on signing a player from another team and then trading him....i.e. time frame and if its even possible?

could we sign one of those guys and use them in a trade later on to bring in a power forward?
