im 16 years old and ive been a clips fan since i was in the 5th grade.i started to like the clips when i saw maggette play and how odom played.

the offseason has been a rollercoaster of emotions.we went from having a potential nba championship team in baron, brand, thornton, kaman, and maggette but it ended up blowing up in our faces. so now with a decision to attempt to sign josh smith, emeka okafor, andris biendrins, or through trade. let me evaluate whats to expect.

first of all, if the season were to start right now and all we have done was to sign people just to fill our roster out(which i highly doubt), we would be around a 30-40 win team. and thats good enough to make the playoffs......

    IN THE EAST. :}

so we really need one of the restricted free agents that i listed above. so i would have to choose a restricted free agent, i would choose josh smith.
of course some of you may ask, why smith? he cant guard elite bigs like amare stoudemire or lamarcus aldridge. well that answer is simple.
besides have great athleticism, being third in the nba in blocking, and having enourmous upside, smith may not be able to defend elite bigs well, but the elite bigs will have even a harder time guarding him. i dont think there are be any power forwards besides garnett or maybe odom who could keep up with smiths quickness. also, the fact that every year, his points are going up and his shots getting better. and last but not least, he would fitin perfectly with mike dunleavy's "new" style of play. mdsr said in the davis press conference that he plans to make his style of play more uptempo.

after smith, it would be okafor and then biedrins respectively.

thats for free agents, now if a trade were to occur, i think it would most possibly and hopefully be marion.

marion is kinda like josh smith except that he has a better but much worse looking shot, smith blocks more, and marion rebounds and scores more.

and so, heres my final conclusion of what the clips will be like this season:

-davis would be around 22-24 ppg, 7-10 apg, and 4-6 rpg

-kaman would be a beast avg 17-18ppg 12-13 rpg and 2-3 bpg

-thornton would vastly improve with davis feeding him the ball avg 16-19ppg, 6-8 rpg, and maybe 2 apg

-gordon would flourish as a rookie avg 10-16ppg, 2-4apg, and 3-5 rpg

-and well, with no changes to our current roster were a 30-40 win team, but if we accuire josh smith, okafor, or marion, were probably a 47+ win team.

thats my thoughts, so tell me what you guys think

    clips for life!

Good post rollingkiwi! I agree- if we get one of those guys we should be in line for 47+ like you said. Hopefully that should be enough to make us the 7th or 8th seed.

You're totally right. My only concern is that bringing in Randolph might poison the chemistry between Baron, Thornton and Gordon just because of how slow he is. Bringing Randolph might actually negatively impact the team rather than bring it up to the 47 win estimate.

GET JOSH SMITH. Look a t his #s. They're almost the same as ELTON JUDAS BENEDICT BRAND, THE PHONY, FAKE, LIAR WHO EVEN MADE MAKE ME LIKE KOBE. I'LL SEE EVERYONE AT CLIPS VS. SIXERS AT STAPLES NEXT YEAR. I WILL EVEN be at LAKERS vs. SIXERS rockin my CLIPPER GEAR rooting for KOBE to DUNK IT on ELTON's FACE. It'll be the only time I root for Kobe the arrogant bastard who now looks like an angel compared to ELTON who is so blinded by his agent, he doesn't know how FAKE he looks.

Great post Lil' Bro' Marion would be perfect but he's out of reach. He said he wants to stay in Miami and we don't have anything to offer. In retrospect, I wish we could have traded him for EB last yr---Oh well.
If Andris can play PF, good bang for the buck and maybe BD can convince him. We're not gonna lose with either Smith or Okafur The problem is the $$. Our team is changing from power to speed and athleticism. (sorry Corey wasn't athletic). We do need another scorer bad. Remember we lost 17ppg (with EB he wouldn't get 22) with Corey and 24 with EB and Cat's scoring will be down (father time does rule). We also don't have Sam's points. BD will give more pts than Sam but Al and Gordon are unknowns. TT is our only sure bench scorer. Go for the points. Smith is only going to get better and we may not miss Brand that much.

You either are a Clipper fan or a Laker fan. In Chicago people are either White Sox fans or Cubs fans. I'd rather put all my fanergy into one team. Otherwise I'd feel like a bandwagon fan. Clipper fans are loyal as evidenced by us being fans even thouugh The Clips sucks almost every year. Laker fans fly their little flags from their car windows only on the years The Lakers go deep in the playoffs.

Guys this thread ain't a who hates who and anyway it's a LAC site which almost by definition means LAL bashing. If you can't stand the heat you know where the kitchen door is. Before Kobe became an ass LAC were #1 and LAL were #0.95. My dream was LAC/LAL 1 pt 7th game DOT conf. Finals. I don't dislike LAL I dislike Kobe. I live in LA and to say if I'm an Angeleno and am a hypocrite for hating LAL is like saying that if I'm German I'm a hypocrite for not liking Hitler (yes a bit overstated). I was a LAL fan because of guys like Wilt, West, Baylor (at least as a player) Shaq, Magic etc etc. and this was before I moved to LA. Even with that history, I hope Kobe never wins another game

    LAC/LAL fan

Ditto TooHip on all points, that's almost exactly where I am at. LAL was my #2 team (a distant #2 behind LAC) in the 80's and 90's. But I like teams for the personalities and thus Kobe and Lamar completely turned me off. I don't hate LAL, but they're very low on my list. I like Garnett, Zo, Bosh ... so I tend to root for their teams (tough to root for Boston, but hard to hate KG) if not playing LAC.

LF98, you're a cool guy ... but I disagree that it's hypocritical to be an Angeleno and not like the Lakers. I never liked the Raiders either.

You know Kobe Bryant is not perfect, nobody is. Using that lame rape excuse show how truly immature you are. I'm not defending Kobe Bryant on that one, the truth of the matter is it got settle, no one know if Kobe rape that girl or she wanted money and lie about it, but it is the past.

"let the past be the past" that what I always say.

Please tell me how Kobe is an Ass? Last time I check you guys wanted to have Kobe on your team. Yes Kobe Bryant is arrogant but he is also good. Kobe Bryant is not the only player in sport that show boat, does Terrell Owen ring a bell? Yea it a different sport, but it make no difference. Maybe you hate him because the guy is good? You don't see people talking about Ron Artest, who last time I check is the real Ass.

Give me some credible reason why Kobe is an Ass?

Lakderfan98 - CALM DOWN. This is a CLIPPER FAN FORUM. MOST CLIPPER FANS DO NOT LIKE KOBE. Yes, Get that through your head. Have you been to Clipper/Laker games? Do you know that Clipper fans root for the Clippers and not both? I root for the Dodgers and Kings not the Angels and Ducks. Yankee fans don't root for the Mets and vice/versa. This is forum is CLIPPER NATION. Kobe is the most talented player in the NBA but he is NOT a leader. He bitches and complains about his teammates and wants OUT of LA. Watch him "lead" his team... he bitches out his fellow teammates and tells them DO THIS, DO THAT! WHY CAN'T YOU PLAY LIKE ME. Growing up, EVERYONE hated playing sports with arrogant pricks like that. Just because you can put a ball through a hoop better than others doesn't make your value as a PERSON higher than others. If Kobe is a great player, NOT a good leader and Team Sports is about LEADERSHIP. This isn't GOLF. This isn't TENNIS. This is 5 on 5. JORDAN, MAGIC, BIRD brought out the best in his teammates. Lakerfan98, Tell me this... If Kobe is a leader, tell me this: 1) With the best player on the court, with the best coach ever, on one of the best franchises... HOW DO YOU LOSE AN NBA FINALS DECIDING GAME BY 39 POINTS? 2) HOW DO YOU LOSE AN NBA FINALS GAME AT HOME WHERE YOU'RE 12 - 0 WHEN YOU'RE UP BY 24 POINTS? That's called a lack of Leadership. Kobe is becoming a better leader every year and with Bynum, I believe he'll win another championship. Now get the F out of the Clipper Forum and suck Kobe's c*ck with all my other Laker friends.

OK your starting to piss me but I won't take that against you because EB leaving is still stirring thing up for you. Look, I didn't know Clippers fans really hate Kobe so much, when the Clipper play against Lakers, I see more Lakers Jersey than Clippers Jersey so I assume people don't hate Kobe. However, let be a little bit mature here, I agree with everything you said. Just don't tell me to F*** off because I disagree with you, I am taking into account everyone perspective. Now that someone on here has tell me Kobe is an Ass and stating a reason, I can see why Kobe is an Ass.

I used to play basketball, wasn't really good, but I play defense pretty well. I was also the number one stealer and assist on the team. Of course I quit basketball even just playing for fun because of people similar to Kobe. I hate ball hogger as well, and I guess I was blind slighted by Kobe greatness. Yes Kobe is trying but he isn't a team leader, and the 39 point loss is terrible. He doesn't have a great attitude I if I was in the NBA I wouldn't want to play with Kobe during my first few season anyway.

It just hard to imagine the Lakers without Kobe Bryant. First Shaq left, the dynasty felt apart, and if Kobe Left, things would just fall apart. Still don't blame me for Liking Kobe Bryant, he is still a lot better than most basketball player out there (not NBA, students) that are ball hauler.

I do see your point, and I won't argue with you about Kobe, but please next time calm down. You haven't been the best of Clippers fans even though the loss of EB is still fresh in your mind

Anyway Al, Davis, Kaman, Gordon, Smith should be fun to watch!

Just to clarify - all those people wearing Laker jerseys are Laker fans not Clipper fans. I guarantee it ... I am a long time season-ticket holder and see zero Laker jerseys the rest of the year. Laker fans buy all the available LAL @ LAC tickets because they are cheaper than LAC @ LAL tickets.

Shame on LAC fans who sell their LAL games (I did once and made a big $). But the point is, those are NOT Clipper fans you noticed.

Hey guys, lets calm down with that vulgarity. As long as a visitor from another team shows respect, then leave him be. Lets stick to the topic at hand and move on.
LF, you have to understand that we are in a Clippers forum so you are bound to read some smack about the Lakers. Just realize that it will happen and don't take it too seriously otherwise the topic changes.

LA86 You have been rude and disrespectable to us and I resent it. I could join an LAL forum but I would never lack the manners to trash LAL's or their fans in their own forum. This is our house and you never disrespect anyone in their own home. If you continue, I respecfully request you go elsewhere. Being a boor isn't necessary to be an LAL fan like I was and will be again

I don't understand the argument of "Marion wants to stay in Miami". It's not up to him. And if he IS traded and doesn't play hard, he's screwing himself over going into a contract year
