| Well, with Smith and Okafor being restricted free agents that will likely get a match from their existing teams, it looks like the only hope the Clippers have at PF is Shawn Marion. I'm not sure Miami wants Mobley or Tim Thomas, so it will have to take DeAndre Jordan in addition. To tell you the truth, I'm starting to give in to the fact that Tim Thomas will be the starting PF this season. What a loser. |

| i dont think this deal is dead they just have a rework it a little....the knicks are probably interested in mobley but i'd rather try and get rid of tim thomas....TT used to play under d'antoni so dont be surprised if this trade option surfaces again.... |

Both contracts for Cat and Tim end at the right time for the Knicks after the 2010 season two years from now so they can make a run at LeBron. It is the reason they would want to unload Randolph's 3 year contract. A NY newspaper is reporting late tonight that they expect Donnie Walsh who is in Las Vegas for Summer League to continue talks with the Clippers. They report that the deal is stalled because Donnie want Eric Gordon included in the deal. After Eric's 23 point explosion in his first game, the chances of the Clippers tossing him in seems really remote. So its Thomas or Mobley or both, or one of those two guys and an asset that the Clippers don't mind losing like Brevin Knight. |

Why in the hell would we want to use up our cap space on a guy the Knicks are dieing to get rid of? I rather have no low post offence then have this guy who is lazy and plays no defence. His contract is astronomical.
We need to play uptempo, and Zach Randolp is not an uptempo player. This would be a stupid trade, even for Mobley and Thomas. Then they want Eric Gordon. If the clips give Eric Gordon for this scrub I am official no longer a fan. |

| The Clippers are not going to give up Gordon to get Randolph. And they are not going to give any significant amout of their cap space either. They will be trading probably two contracts away to bring one contract in. They are doing this to get a stud PF and keep thier cap space to sign other free agents that they have their eye on. Making offers to Smith, Okafor, and Biedrins is a nice idea but they use up all of our money, leaving nothing to sign anybody else. The result, a lack of depth and a poor bench. I'm not promoting this trade, just explaining it so you understand better. |

| By the way, there are very few PF's in the league that average Randolphs 18 and 10. Very few. |

| He was a beast with the Blazers- I'm just a little cautious of possible locker room issues or off the court problems he may bring. |

I totally agree w/ JamFan. I don't like Randolph, but it does leave a much more open financial picture. |

I understand the rational of bringing him in. He can get you 18 points and 10 rebounds. Big deal. We have Kaman in the low post. Baron wants to run the ball and we need to switch styles. Randolph is not a runner and is very bad for chemistry. I think Thomas and Mobley help us more than bringing this guy in. They atleast space the court out for Kaman. If we did this trade, we would have no depth in the backcourt, and Gordon would have to start his rookie year which would be a mistake.
Only a fool would do this trade. Cap space is something you want to preserve, not waste and we be stuck with him for 3 years. |

^^Yeah if we could somehow trade Tim Thomas/Josh Powell/Brevin Knight + a lottery protected first rounder for Randolph, and then still keep our $12-13 mil of cap space. Holy smokes- we can go and get an Andre Igoudala (take that Sixers!) or another very good player who's not a PF. Monta Ellis, Josh Childress, Luol Deng, & Ben Gordon could be options too.
That would be one scary team.... |

| Yeah, I can see the purpose of it...but I'm just not sold on Randolph fitting into this team...I kinda hope they would only do this as a last resort if they cant get the restricted FAs. |

Zach Randolph always has had "bad press". Last year seemed like he was the main cause of the Knicks disaster and it's totally unfair. All the players that have gone to the Knicks have failed.
The Zach I remember from the Blazers is as good as Brand offensively. He had a nice jumper and he was a machine scorer. In fact he was a 20-10 man. On the defensive end it's a different story but attacking he was really good.

| There is a lot of good and bad with Randolph. The clips don't have to give up equal money for him because they are under the cap. So they don't have to give up much for him. Knicks of course are gonna ask a lot for him but Clippers won't budge if they do. Everyone knows the Clips won't hold it down with TT at PF. They need an upgrade. Randolph has a lot of baggage. If he comes in here and keeps his head on straight and puts down 18 and 10 a game the Clips look like geniuses. If he doens't, then they look like jerkoffs. I am not going to jump ship just cause they make a move that turns out bad. I've gotten used to them. Hopefully things go their way with what ever decision they make. |

| Is Randolph a psycho or a thug (like Iverson) I think he's a thug and thugs can grow up. Randoplh + Andre could be real interesting. I like it. If Gordon can do some PG, all of the above choices sound scarey. Since we do have the $$ and I think our luck may have finally turned. Isn't it going to be real hard to get Deng or Ellis? Speaking of luck we were worried because we didn't have a PG and they were in short supply. We got a good one and a PF will be a lot easier. Speaking of Clipper luck believe it or not given the choice of Davis or Brand we're better off. It was impossible to find a good PD through FA. Sorry guys I got ripped for this in a previous post but EB isn't the type of player who can put the team on his back .BD cam. It's a lot easier to find a good PF this yr that a PG. We've got cap space and none of our possibilities sound bad. I think there's a silver lining |

The Knicks have rejected a proposal from the Clippers to trade power forward Zach Randolph, league sources told SI.com.
Terms of any proposal were not known, but the Clippers have enough salary-cap space to accept Randolph's contract without having to give the Knicks equal salaries in return. The Clippers, seeking to replace the departed Elton Brand, were trying to take Randolph off the Knicks' hands while offering little more than cap relief to New York, the sources said. Randolph will make $14.7 million next season, and he has three years and $48 million left on his contract.
While the Knicks are known to be interested in clearing cap space by 2010 to make a run at LeBron James or other potential free agents, the sources said New York wanted more than simple cap relief in exchange for Randolph. The Knicks appear to believe that Randolph will provide a highly productive season under new coach Mike D'Antoni, which could raise his value much higher than it is today. That's why the Knicks were not interested in nearly giving away Randolph's contract, acc | |
