plain and simple, with how everything played out....WE COULD NOT GET MAGGETTE!...its done, its over, it couldn't have happened because he decided to sign before EB left.
and as far as randolf goes someone made a good point about randy moss last year....he was traded for like a 4th round pick?!...no one thought he had value because of his character issues....sure enough he went onto to new england and led their receiving core to a superbowl appearance....everyone deserves a second chance(in randolfs case maybe a 6th chance) and with a new scenery and team mindset who knows what he could do for this team?!!!! |

| Ok ill admit talent wise he would be a GREAT fit. I remember his whole career he is VERY VERY similar to Elton Brand. My big problem is.. why the hell are we offering a second round pick only? Lets at least throw in Thomas like others suggested. The reason they got rid of Randy is he poisoned the team by hating playing for the raiders.. so his effort was not there. Randolph is doing better with the knicks now than he was for the blazers... so its not like the knicks are rushing him out as they are with Marbury ; ) |

| I agree with Clippersfan86, if we throw in Thomas and/or Mobley, it would be a great deal. I understand people like Mobley, he is a great player, but for about 10 million a year? There's better, younger talent out there |

very true....but from the clips point of view they were probably just testing the waters to see what his value is to the knicks....obviously he has some value so another offer will probably be made in the future....
this reminds me of bartering in mexico....they come at you with a pair of FOakley's in their hand and say "you want?', you say $2....they laugh, then say $20....you laugh and say $5....they come back with $15 and somehow you come to an agreement with $10....it'll all workout if this is our main target.... |

| Definitely. We may have trouble swinging Mobley because he's got 3 years left and gets paid almost as much as Randolph and they wanna dump cap space. I think thomas' contract is for like 10-15 mill less total than mobley's? Plus they never let David Lee develop! Kid has shown he busts his ass and can score at will so maybe if they give us randolph they will be better off |

| I read that Mobley and Thomas are only on contract up to the 2009/10 season unlike Randolph who is there until 2010/11, that's perfect for the Knicks because they want LeBron |

| WOW their 5 year contracts went by fast. lol. Yea it would would IF knicks bite on it. Ide much rather keep Mobley so he can bring Gordon along. If we trade Mobley our 2 position will be very weak. |

| The thing with Ranolph, the Knicks are the ones that are trying to dump him. Low balling em is the right way to go. There can't be too many teams looking to add his fat ass and contract on board. The Clippers need to let them take maybe TT and a second rounder with Powell or something along those lines. The Clippers need a PF but the advantage is not on the Knicks side. |

| The only problem in offering TT's contract is that his was an MLE and doesn't count against the cap. So we would take on a 14Mil contract and not clear anything. Cat's contract on the other is almost 10Mil. So we only take on about 4 Mil against the cap. Depending on who is doing the math that still leaves us about 8-10Mil to go and sign another really good player like Iggy or Deng. If we trade TT, were done. Our hands would be tied. No money left. |

You don't have to go south of the border to barter. You can go to Olvera Street and haggle over the wares. Heck, you can walk into any neighborhood yard sale and try your negotiation skills. But I agree, the Clippers were probably just sending out feelers by offering their lowest offer,
Why does no one ever mention that Randolph went through micro-fracture surgery in March 2005? When poeple talk about succesful recoveries, Amare and Kidd are often named but not Randolph. Coming back from such a thing is supposed to be very hard work. Randolph put in that hard work and came back statistically stronger than before.
My own opinion is that Randolph does not take pride in team concept or even the game of basketball, really. But apparantly he does hold some personal pride. It might not be much, in fact, too often detrimental. But such pride could be harnassed, as his statistics prove.
His best year came under the helm of uber-tough disciplinarian Nate MacMillan. As coach, MacMillan (given the nick-name "Sarge" by the troubled power-forward himself) focused Randolph's selfish drive into career bests, though they came during the nadir of the Jail-Blazer's era. They included run-ins with the law and with teammates (punching future Clipper Ruben Patterson in the face).
It's never a good sign when a team gets rid of their star player for peanuts and finds much more success when he's gone (call it the Stephon Marbury rule). But that's exactly what happened for Portland. Meanwhile, Randolph is paired with maybe the worst front-court complement in the league. Eddy Curry mirrors all of his own defeciencies (shot blocking, defense, passing out of double-teams) while negating his best (scoring). Rounded out with ball-hog teammates and a self-destructive coach and it's a wonder there haven't been anymore "incidents" with Randolph (the Nate Robinson thing aside).
I think the Clippers present an advantageous situation for Randolph. There is a major hole at PF, one which his skill-set fills well on the offensive floor. There is a coach who can be just as tough-minded and stubborn as Nate MacMIllan (and who is no stranger to Jail-Blazer personalities, though not his specifically). Chris Kaman does the things he doesn't (blocks shots, defensive rebounding) and their is a PG who can find him if he's open (Randolph's ability to hit 18-footers could really come in handy here).
But I just don't see Randolph as a good move. He wants to be a gangsta, not a professional basketball player. He doesn't take his conditioning seriously. He chucks horrible shots. He will not -will not- play defense. He's just corrosive, like battery acid. If we land him, I get the feeling that, in retrospect, he will be an embarrasing move that looked really good on paper when it happened. |

| Well with what JAMFAN says the only real trade bait that will definetly work in our favor is getting rid Mobley's contract. I like Mobley but if its best for the team then somethings gotta happen. IT doesn't make sense to get rid of TT right now if it doesn't come off the books in the same way. |

| Yea Mobley and second round pick or restricted first would be nice. We need a forward like a young Chris Webber. A forward who passes alot.. As of now our team is loaded with scorers... Not many play makers besides Baron. |

Quote:
Walsh already proved he will work at his own pace when he turned down an offer from the Los Angeles Clippers for Zach Randolph, whom Walsh had been shopping for a while. The Clippers reportedly offered a second-round pick for Randolph, but Walsh believes he can get a better offer. Randolph, who has a hefty three years and $48 million left on his contract, is still a consistent double-double performer.

| Heck no- we were generous enough to offer to take on that huge contract that they want to get rid of anyways, but now I think we should reconsider. Maybe Randolph + a future NY first rounder for our 2nd round pick? That's pretty much the type of trade Philly made in order to get cap space for Elton Brand. |
