Other reports had us offering Cat or Thomas or both for Randolph and/or another player. Now Newsday, a NY paper, says we only offered a second round pick. If this is true, it would be a pure salary dump on the Knicks part, not a plan of have contracts off the books by 2010. I'm confused by this if it is true. If Cat or Thomas is not traded and we take on Randolphs contract, we would then again not have any cap space to sign anybody else.

Yeah that would be kind of confusing if we're just absorbing his contract like that.

If they could include Mobley or Thomas that would clear some space to sign someone. Both of those guys cotract expire in 2010, which is what NY wants.

Wow if they get Randolph for a 2nd rounder, this will be great for both sides. If they can take on Cuttino's contract, that would be great as well.
Baron Davis
Eric Gordon
Al Thornton
Zach Randolph
Chris Kaman |

Thomas should be the first one we get rid of. Mobley still has game and can help us. Thomas is just garbage.

when healthy mobely can shoot and is a good above good defender.
tim on the other hand might be good this year since he wont be forced but he is too inconsistant at times.
but also remember he won on in pho run game so if we use run game he might wake up |

Man this is disappointing. Lately i jump to our management's defense. After seeing Maggette's new story and stuff maybe there is some truth guys to our front office making Brand feel unwanted. Yes at last second they offered big.. but maybe we missed something. He said Donald Sterling told him he doesnt care either way if he stays, which knowing how stupid Donald is, it would not surprise me. Also Maggette may be a difficult player to coach but we have to admit he ALWAYS gave his best effort on the court.. so not resigning him was very disrespectful to him after 8 years of service. I think Maggette should have been re signed. Also the clippers offering only a second round pick sounds shady to me.. like they want us to think they are trying hard when they really arent!

In my opinion coaches are more likely to tell the truth than the players and especially the agent. And Faulk is really a piece of work. Always held something against the team.I really doubt it was our fault and now we're blaming Brand and his agent. Maggette first went on air saying we we're all good to go and Brand backed out the last day. No he's changing his story. Usually the first story is right unless he was quoted saying he lied or misrepresented what he said the first time.....which he didn't.
Most everyone knows we got f***ed and it's the truth whether people say differently or not. I bet we have some text messages or emails but I don't think the FO will release them. They're taking the higher ground by just letting it go. No need to escalate everything more than it already is. |

with an uptempo system in place next year(which dunleavy claims) TT would/could be a good option off the bench....he can score and an uptempo game is gonna get him more open looks(which he didnt really get last year and therefore forced horrible shots quite often)....maybe the FO does see something we dont....a healthy cat is someone who can help a team in more ways than one and thats probably why they didnt offer him....TT is much more expendable but maybe they think this will be his year and therefore didnt necessarily want to offer him either....i'm sure one of them would have to go in this trade scenario and i prefer TT....

Well we are getting off topic for this thread. TT's contract was an MLE contract and not subject to the cap. If Cat's contract could be moved in the deal, we could get Randolph and maybe have money left over to sign Iggy or Deng(or whoever). If we just trade a pick, we are done. No money left to sign anybody else except 3rd tier FA's.

Randolph is a guaranteed 20 and 10 player, and he's not a bad defender considering his size. We'd be able to guard any of the front court powerhouses in the league. This would be an absolute steal...if Randolph lays off the nachos a little bit

one of the reasons i think randolf COULD work is the fact the both he and kaman have decent range on their jump shots....kaman can hit shots out to about 12-15ft and randolf till maybe 18 or 20ft(stay away from the threes!)...although they both are predominantly post players having some range would significantly help spread the floor....

You guys are coming up with very unrealistic proposals. Knicks already turned us down due to our front offices bullshit offer. Randolph is not a guaranteed according to stats only 4 players are good for that right now over a career. Randolph is good for 15 ppg 8 boards MAYBE. With the knicks he did well because he is their main scoring option. With portland he was good but again was a main scoring option. I dont think with Baron,al and Kaman that he would be a main scoring option. Plus some of you guys said earlier maggette is a me first player... so you want to replace him with the same kind of poor attitude guy???

He can rebound on score but he is a turnstile on D and a black hole once you pass him the ball.

Are u serious how could we only offer a second round for Randolph. I mean if we want to win we need to offer more then that he is like Elton brand a 20 10 guy. What does EB have that Randolph doesn’t. I don’t know if the clippers want to win because I would be jumping on the knicks to trade Randolph to us if the clippers could do this deal then we are champion chip contenders and everyone would forget about EB. He is like EB he could get the same points and rebound there is not a lot of those guys out their.

With all the talk about Randolph being a head case. The Clippers and Dunleavy must think they can control that head of his. Was he there in Portland when Dunleavy was. MDsr. must think he can handle and motivate this guy in order to even ask for a trade. Can anyone answer was he in portland with coach. If he was what was his stats while with him.

Yea Randolph also scores the same exact ways as Brand which is pretty funny. Like he has alot of post moves, not a big dunker like lets say Amare. But he can block shots and shoot the mid range jumpers. Only thing Brand was more talented at for sure was rebounding. Randolph can never crash the offensive boards like Elton, He simply does not play as hard.
