| Korolev must not be getting offers from other places, cause he was just added to the Clippers summer league roster. If he signs for the minimum, maybe they keep him around as role player. I still say he has potential. |

| I believe the best way the clippers would have a win-win situation with Korolev is to keep him but send him overseas to develop and the experience as if he would get the same if he were to play full-time in the NBA. It would be a waste if the clippers would just let him go b/c I still think Korolev would be good but it is the fact that DuMBleavy's system aint cut out for Korolev...not as of yet right now...but maybe in the future. |

| You guys are right about one thing. One of the most stupid things I have ever seen, was taking a teenager from Europe, who didn't even play pro ball in Russia, then bring him here for two years and let him sit on the bench. How dumb is that? Dumleavy could have sent him overseas the first year, to the D league the second year. He hurt his team and he hurt this young player. Dumleavy???????? Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| That's nice of him having some loyalty to the Clippers. But yeah I agree with Clips84- if he doesn't make the team maybe he should go play in Europe and then come back the Clips (if he wants to) when (and if) he's proven himself overseas. Actually it would suck for him if he has to rot on the bench again even if he does make the team. Maybe he brings value as a good practice teammate, but you'd have to think he has higher aspirations. |

| He's a good shooter, which is what we drafted him for...but yeah like you say: why hasnt he been getting experience. HEHE, maybe the "Pine" he rode infused him with a magical splinter - now we will put him in the lineup and he's better than Michael Jordan...lol. That makes sense compared to what Dumleavy has done so far. |

| After your first two years as a pro aren't you barred from playing in the NBADL? |

Yes, players are not allowed in the NBDL after their second year. So Korolev cannot participate.
I like the idea of him sticking around, 'cause I'd like to see him play. But to be honest, with the drafting of Thornton (a SF with better credentials) Korolev will have even less opportunity to ever play for LAC.
Maybe after a few years of seasoning in Europe ... |

DID HE MENTION DUMLEAVY .... I am very disapinted in his work. Im still pissed about leavig Wilcox go, and almost Maggette! It is now evident to the world that Kaman sucks, at least sucks for what hes getting payed.... I belive staying with Wilcox would have been better (especially with a shun livingston on your team). But then again our coach is DUMLEAVY. |

Agree. I also miss Simmons & Singleton. Could have lived without Korelev. |

Clippers just signed Korolev to a new 2-year deal. That's real surprising for the fact that he'd never see any playing time now that they have Thornton. Tsk tsk tsk...it's sad to say, but what a waste.
But I think for some reason Korolev could play the 2 as a third-string if Diaz becomes a backup point.
man...i wish Korolev had time to develop and really see what he could do. |

| Yup it's not official yet but sounds like it's pretty much a done deal- 2 years for $800K I believe. I find it kind of interesting that they chose to keep him rather than either Ewing or Singleton, both of whom played more last season. Let's see how he does in the Summer League. |

| What a waste of money, he'll never get the playing time with Mobley/Ross/Maggette/Thornton/Thomas |

Are they thinking he will become an eventual replacement for Mobley? Can he really play defense in the NBA? I see him as such a defensive liability that he will never get playing time on a contending team. They are treating him like Larry Bird / Chris Mullin. |

| Korlev is in a lose-lose situation. At his young age he needs to develop a winner mentality. I'm sure that at this point he feels like an inadequate kid rather than an NBA pro and he won't get minutes next yr. You learn success by being successful and you don't get that by having your buns on the bench. He needs Europe |

| the only reason they kept him is because of pride, they have too much pride in admitting that they messed up with that pick so theyre going to keep him longer as a way of salvaging the disaster. hopefully it works, and he does come into his own...but with our roster deep of wing players, even if he gets good, we wont kno it cuz he'll have absolutely no playing time. atleast its only 800k... |

| I had thought the same thing you did ClipperFan909. But remember now that Singleton and Ewing were both "Dunleavy" picks as well, and they were let go, so it's hard say. But it probably has more to do with the potential they still see in him. We all just wish that he'll show it or at least have an opportunity to show it. |

Well, it's official:
Quote:
L.A.Times: "Yaroslav Korolev will return to the Clippers. The former lottery pick, who became a free agent when the team declined to exercise his contract option, agreed to terms Friday on a 2-yr deal. "The situation with the contract is not final yet, but we're working on it and I'm still with the Clippers," Korolev said. "I'm happy I'm going to be here." Under NBA rules, Korolev's new contract, which guarantees him about $800,000 and includes a team option for the 2008-09 season, won't become official until Wednesday."
